Ludum Dare 45 October 4–7, 2019

Echo Studios

We're entering for the first time this year. Wish us luck!

I'm in!!!

Never done Ludum Dare. Beginner Coder. Lets do this!

First Time In

Excited to take part, and convinced I'm going to mess something up :D

First Time Doing The Jam

Good luck to everyone. First time ever partaking. Doing a team for the jam with 2 uni friends. We may only have basic knowledge, but we will try to have fun

Weird

Why can I see unpublished drafts from other people?

35 minutes left

This'll be fun. My first non-terminal game. Done with VSCode, SFML, and TGUI in C

37 minutes

Eyes open (more or less), coffee brewing, listening to music while reading things online. Still 36 minutes to go ^^

First Ludum Dare!

Getting ready for the jam! It will be my second game jam, but first time on ludum dare, good luck and have fun everyone!

Hold my wine, I am going in

Missed last LD but I am back baby! Let's jam some games and maybe even rate enough of them to get my game ranked this time!

Oh, Ludum Dare is today. Good thing I have a free weekend.

I'm used to the April/August/December schedule. Oh well.

I haven't even looked at the themes, probably better that way. Whatever it ends up being 90% of you are going to complain about it instead of just... you know... making whatever you want anyways like you're entirely allowed to do.

My last shot at this in April kind of got interrupted, but that won't be happening this time.

Probably going to do something with VR so I can get some practice in. Unity and Blender mostly, possibly AESprite and/or Gimp depending on style. If I get around to any sort of sound Audacity will most likely be a part of that. Oh... and probably VRTK to kick things off... didn't realize that existed last time and wasted a bunch of time just trying to get things started.

Anyways, that's about it.

Good luck everyone and for god's sake just have some fun with this.

Never made a game

Never made a game before in my life so this should be a fun 48 hours.

ANXIOUS!

I've missed ludum dare the passed few times and I haven't done game dev work in a while now. I'm feeling awfully rusty. I really hope I can get something done in time for compo this weekend.

My Very First Jam

I'm so exited. I have take all my willpower and all my passion and deside to participate in jam. Hope I'll finish my first game ever (excludes made with tutorials/books ones) sucessfully. At least, I think, will have a lot of fun (oh, it's not started yet but I already have). So good luck every one who participating and have fun!

We are ready !

See you guys in the competition!

Hey everyone, my name is Nicole, and I'm super excited to be participating in Ludum Dare 45!

I've participated in 3 Ludum Dare's before (on a different account), and I had a ton of fun, so I'm hoping this time will be even better!!

I will be streaming on my Twitch shortly after the event starts, so if anyone wants to watch a game get made (or to scope out their competition!) then come say hi! I'm excited to hang with you.

Best of luck to everyone (and here's hoping Factory wins ;) )! - Nicole

I'm in!

This will be my 14th Ludum Dare

Tools: - Unity 2019.2 - VS code - Aseprite and Gimp for 2D art - Blender for 3D (If I do 3D) - Audacity and my keyboard for music. - Github

Ludum Dare! Ludum Dare! Ludum Dare!

Its been a long time since I've touched a game jam like Ludum Dare.

Heres hoping the theme is good this year! I'll be working with a brand new theme of folks as the Artist/Animator 2D pixel art with Photoshop/Aesprite depending on the mood.

All streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/callcifer

Soon it begins

1550e.gif

Hopefully its a good theme

praying for something nice and simple, already have a list of themes we hope wont make it

IN IN I am IN Again For the Compo :)

This will be my 16th time participating in the Ludum Dare Compo! I did not finish my game in April due to losing a day to go see Avengers Endgame. But I'm back now with a good, full weekend ahead!

I will likely be using C# and MonoGame using any of the toy engine code I have sprinkled around my GitHub https://github.com/srakowski feel free to use any of it should you find something useful. For graphics I almost always go with Paint.Net, GIMP, and Paint. For Audio SFXR, Bosca Ceoil, and Audacity have been my go-to tools. On that note...

This LDJAM I think I am going to do my best to NOT neglect Audio. It tends to be the thing I try to tack on at the end of the jam, but I want to be working on audio by sometimes Saturday. We'll see how this turns out.

Good luck to everyone!

Stream Fear: He's just googling everything!

I'm a bit ashamed to stream my production, as I mostly google everything.
Even if I've previously used something, I'm always referring back to blogs or code snippets just to get the syntax or any additional parameters.
Hopefully that doesn't bring negativity to any potential viewers:

He's not even making a game he's just googling everything!

Just in case, I'll make sure to title my stream "Noob Making Game" or something

Im hyper

So hyped waiting for the Announcement!

Hey, Haxe devs!

I released on GitHub (ie. open source) all the stuff I usually have when I make a Ludum Dare jam:

  • my games base-code: https://github.com/deepnight/gameBase
  • my libs: https://github.com/deepnight/deepnightLibs
  • a simple Tiled importer for Heaps: https://github.com/deepnight/heapsTiled
  • a simple Ogmo 3 importer for Heaps: https://github.com/deepnight/heapsOgmo

Feel free to use these for your own projects :)

I'm in (Oh Snap!)

It's been a few years since I entered, but this LD I'll be all in streaming the whole jam at http://twitch.tv/adamcyounis

I've been working on the same game for the last 36 months, let's see what I can do in 48 hours.

GLHF, pals.

I'm in

I wanted to do a longer write-up, but considering the jam is gonna start in a few minutes I'm gonna shorten it to I'm in, let's make something fun and quirky again
(BTW. I'm still working on a postjam version of previous entry :keyboard: Deadline in my spare time.

My Guess

I'm going to make a guess and say the theme will be Night Is Coming

I'm In

Lets do it

Did I need to sign up

Do I need to sign up before it starts or just submit at the end?

I'm in !

Finally, LD 45 is here ! My goal this time is to NOT chicken out and actually publish something. I'll try streaming the thing to motivate me !

GL & HF everyone !

We're in!

Team: My wife and I

I’ve followed ludum dare for a very, very long time. First jam I payed attention to was the 2011 jam, and I’ve followed ever since. I found great inspiration in Notch’s work, his entry for one of the jams was a gnaaarly game called prelude of the chambered; a first-person dungeon crawler which I instantly fell in love with. Anyways, me and my WIFE decided to enter this jam AND WHAT DA HECK WE’LL SEE HOW IT GOES.

I’ve been studying game dev and the disciplines involved for years, proficient in a few different programming languages (C, C++, Java), 3D and 2D game art, unreal engine, music production, and general game design (level design, gameplay design, etc.) I spent a long while learning 3D, and because of that I’ve become a bit rusty in the programming area, and I’m kind of an inconsistent 2D artist. My beautiful wife, however, is excellent in that area and went to art school for a few years, and she’s also an amazing singer and pianist, so that’s covered.

Schedule: 72 hours to complete the game 8 – 6 hours of sleep 1 – 3 hours rest each day Around 40 hours to complete game

As a general guideline, this is how we’ll distribute our time:

Music – 3 Graphics – 6 Framework – 10 Gameplay – 20 Polish – 4

My wife's time will be 100% art and music

Software: Bit of a software situation, main workstation in Florida and I'm in Canada, don’t have designer, fl studio, or photoshop set up Engine: Unreal Engine 4 Graphics: Photoshop, Blender, maybe Substance Designer Sound effects: Classic BFXR Music: FL Studio or just recorded guitar

Game plan: Going to try to get some style in the graphics and music though won’t spend too much time there myself, going to focus mostly on gameplay, getting the game to a playable and well-rounded state, and actually achieving the design goals No idea what we’re making yet, guess we’ll see what the theme brings us!

Oh no

How I felt 1 min before the jam giphy.gif How I feel now giphy2.gif

aDeCon in action!

aDeCon Production is participating in such events for the first time. We will make a quality product to raise the level of competition. Usually we are an indie team consisting of no more than 4 people and all are quite talented, but today for the first time I will participate alone without a team, as the leader and programmer of the company. I also draw and write music well, so I decided to take part alone to write a 2D game. I wish good luck to all newcomers, which means I also wish good luck to myself. all successful development.

We're In

And the team gets bigger with now a total of 5 daring creators!

@angry-cyboot : designer and graphic artist extraordinaire!!

@Eyam : dedicated composer and new to the team and to ludum dare

@Kackey : slightly nervous code artisan

@Oroshix : summoner of code and expert in git vodoo

@Synack : Code shaper ... somewhat less fancy than most

why

why start with :egg: WHY

I thing do!

This is my first Ludum Dare 45 jam, I've never done this particular jam before.

I like tools. These are my tools (w10 home):

  • Zotero
  • Skype
  • Settings

GL ;)))99

It has begun...

Theme: Start with nothing

First time in Ludum Dare

Seems a lot of people does not like the theme. why?

I'm in!

My second Ludum Dare. I made a couple of games since the last one and so I hope to complete current  Theme seems to be quite nice for making a simple game

Good luck you all!

"i'm in"

I'm gonna make something, i haven't done LD since the old wordpress site was a thing.

Anyhows, cheers!

It has begun...

Theme: Start with nothing

Thanks

I hate it

Yep : Start with nothing

Effectively ... i'm starting with nothing ... in my brain ;-)

Another LDJAM, another TERRIBLE theme

Guys, every jam we have the same problem, terrible themes! "start with nothing" is not a theme at all, sound more like a game mechanic. Theme submiting and voting system must be fixed asap. Anyways, i'm in, but i'm terribly dissapointed, we had some pretty nice themes, real themes.

I am in

It is my first LD!

Obligatory bitching about the theme post, please ignore.

I mean really? It's lazy! There were even some good themes in the running this year. Unconventional traveling would've been cool. Oh well, let's try to morph this theme into something interesting :). Good luck out there!

Don't we always start with nothing anyway?

Start with nothing? You always start with nothing. This theme is not really a theme, we can make almost anything we want now. Whether that is a good thing or not remains to be seen.

We are done!

Our game, made with @LillyByte and @janosch , is done! We started with nothing and since the theme didn't specify that you have to end with SOMETHING, we decided to publish our empty game!

Jokes, obviously. :P Good luck to everyone!

We're in.

Me and @scribbleninja are entering the jam.

We are going to give Unity with play-maker a try.

Let's rock and roll!

I'm ready for my first Ludum Dare! I'll be making a game with @mrpiedpiper :smile_cat:

Good luck

Good luck everyone for this LD !

Theme is...

ok?

Honestly I can see the problems people have but I think this theme is ok.
