LD21 August 19–22, 2011

I’m in

My first Ludum Dare,

I’ll most likely write the game in Javascript or Objective C with Cocos 2D

Here goes something

I’m in. My first Ludum Dare!

Depends on the theme as to whether I get anywhere. But I may as well give it a shot; nothing to lose!

Tools:

  • LÖVE 0.8.0 nightly build
  • Paint.NET
  • bfxr, perhaps Audacity if necessary
  • My brain
Pretty much all I need. My brain will be the most important, so I don’t plan to sacrifice sleep that much. I’m horrible without sleep. We’ll see what happens! :)

Ludum Dare 21 – Flip a coin, I’m in for now.

Unfortunately, I am on-call this weekend, so I may end up working on resolving a customer issue rather than coding a game. I also have a baseball commitment tomorrow afternoon/evening, so even with no calls I will end up with less time than I probably need to finish. Having said that, I’m going to give it a shot.

My tools of choice this time around are FlashDevelop, Flex 4.5, Photoshop, Audacity, Pen & Paper.

No preference on theme. Just gonna roll with it.

Tossing my hat in the ring

I’ll have to dodge spouse aggro and play with my kids, making this even more interesting. But what’s life without a little challenge, eh?

I can’t take it anymore; I’m in

LD is officially too cool to not do.  This is my first time officially; I’ve considered it in the past but the last few were awkwardly timed with respect to my personal schedule.  This time there is no excuse.

I’ll be writing my game entirely in Blitz Basic because I made a dumb promise to some friends of mine.  At least it’s not BF, or SNES assembly.

I don’t think I’ll be able to keep updating rigorously throughout the LD because there will be time for only one activity.

GLHF to all participants!  Let’s all make amazing games!~

Good luck!

I’m in, it will be a small entry

I’m in for this LD, but I’ve got a hectic weekend with freeplay on and projects for university. Despite this:

I will submit something, no matter how small.

I plan on using Multimedia Fusion 2.

Joining the fun

Hi everyone,

Joining the fun this time around :)

Weapons of choice:
– Libgdx framework (libgdx.googlecode.com)
– Eclipse
– GraphicsGale
– Espresso Machine

I’ll keep regular updates of my progress for anyone interested and also for everyone not interested.

Cheers,
Bach

okay so

The rules seem pretty big on full disclosure, so I’ll probably be using a bit of spare code from my Dungeon Bastard engine:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16928585/dungeonbastard.zip

In all likelihood I’ll only end up using the camera object and the surface drawing setup and the billboard code, which isn’t much of that, but I suppose it depends on the theme.

If it isn’t obvious, I’m using Game Maker 8, as well as Graphics Gale and Photoshop, possibly FL Studio or Modplug Tracker.

Good luck and godspeed.

2am seems like a great time to decide to do this.

So, I’m in the UK, only just heard about it, why not. Let’s see how it goes.

I’m planning Python, probably with pysfml or pygame, probably pygame as the new bindings for pysfml are not particularly stable at the moment. Not much in the way of plans as I only decided to do this a very short time ago!

3 24" Monitors, a laptop, a fan, and assorted other stuff.

My workspace.

Not sure how much I’ll post during – or even if I’ll finish something, but we’ll see.

So yeah… now I wait.

Edit: I’ll also be using PyCharm as my IDE. Great bit of kit. Running atop my Arch Linux/KDE setup.

Montage

Remember that back in LD #18 we did a bunch of posts collecting screenshots of our past LD games? That was cool, and I have a handful of games to add to it, so here’s a new one!

14 LD games so far! (if you count the minilds)

I had lots of fun making those! And it’s nearly time to start the next one!

We enter the ring as men, we die as kings.

First timer here

I assume this is the blog you guys are referring to…

Its likely I will be using some code snippets from existing flash projects I have done, but certainly nothing of substance. its mostly just because im terrible at remembering syntax.

update LD 21 ends in: 1d 14h 49m

i have my game idea, a shell of the game ‘engine’ done, decided on my character and enemies, and have half drawn the main player. Tomorrow is code day for me :)

and then i can get up monday morning and still get a couple of hours to try and bugfix and polish the game

——————————————————–

update, about 8hrs to go

=======================

ok i officially forfeit. i came close to getting a game done on time. Unlike some others who are still working on their games after the deadline (and using the 12 hrs as an excuse) You should totally check their file timestamps.

not bad for being new :

1) The first game i have made

2) The first time i had heard of / entered LD

3) never made any art before (eg pixeling/vector)

im going to show my game tomorrow in the Jam section. Thanks guys, its been a blast

ps.. Notch you are a beast, but if i hadn’t spent half my time watching your stream i may have finished in time.

I’m in!

This is my first Ludum Dare, and I’ll be using LÖVE, Gimp, and some kind of text editor.

I’m sure the hard drive that died yesterday won’t matter.  It only had my OS and programs.

Coggoid Libraries..

Ack! I probably should mention what my engine uses, since people may very well be using these for their own C++ projects:

  • Ogre 3D – Graphics
  • Bullet – Physics
  • OIS – Input
  • OpenAL – Sound
  • OGG/Vorbis – Ogg support
  • DUMB – MOD/XM support
  • FreeType – Font rendering
  • zLib – archiving
  • Polyvox – Voxels (probably not for LD)
  • wxWidgets – IDE (won’t be present in the exe being distributed)
Half an hour left and I’m cramming to add a few extra features. With the possibility of Jams being rated, I may very well be working with NeonLare on a project together, as he’s been my right-hand man on a lot of dev work.

First Dare

This is my first dare, but I have done a few 24hr gamejams in the past.  I will probably be doing the Jam with my wife.

We will get a game done, but I’m not sure how featured it will be yet.  Waiting on the theme before we come up with ideas.  Constraints FTW!!!

We will be using Unity 3.4, Maya, Inkscape and sfxr.  I plan to start from (near) scratch.  The only code that I might grab is the standard assets that come with Unity.  Every other bit of code I plan on creating as needed.

Hoping to post something every few hours, but we will see what happens.

This is going to be a blast!! Can’t Wait!!

First Timer, hope I’m doing this right :)

Hey guys, this is my first LD but I have participated in some other competitions.

I’ll be using Allegro 5, Graphics Gale and sfxr.

Here’s a quick game a made earlier just to get some Allegro 5 practice, since I’m moving from Allegro 4. I did this just to learn some of the syntax, since it’s very different from A4.

Time Until!

It says here on the site 14 minutes earlier than the IRC bot. What’s that all about?! When is it really?!?

I believe the website uses your local time to work it out, and hence will be different to the bot, which is by wherever the bot’s host is.

It’s me again!

I’m in, as always! Though this time i’ll be using C++ with SFML, coupled with the regulars; MSPaint, Musagi and AS3SFXR.

Good luck everyone!

LD21

Moved over from SVN to GitHub: https://github.com/CrustyCode/

Using my Java Engine and Util libraries again.

Hoping to do as well this time as I did last time (21st in fun category, 32nd overall).

The Battlestation

My dual monitor'd craptop. It is crappy, but it will do.

I’m not even certain I will get an entry but…

I’m in!

Gotta sleep tonight, but tomorrow is a whole other story. My tools will be GameMaker 8 (Pro of course) and Audacity for editing free sounds I find. I am really not an audio guy. I’ll shoot for the compo but if I can’t make that the jam may work out better. Good luck to everyone!
