LD21 August 19–22, 2011

Almost time!

So I sleep in a bit, wake up, get washed, dressed, do a quick tidy, and have some breakfast. I am still holding out hope for Dreams being the theme, but I think I have to accept it’s gonna be Architecture or something I have absolutely no idea for. Oh well, part of the fun! I will be using Psybrus again for my entry, which can be found here: https://github.com/neilogd/Psybrus. I will be using XCode and Visual Studio during the competition, aiming for a Windows release at the end of the competition, closely followed by an OSX release. There will also be a timelapse video at the end of the competition! For that I will be using ScreenNinja.

Yesterday I done my shopping run, and I’m stocked up and ready to go:

– 24 cans of Mother energy drink.
– 4 cartons of Pringles
– Block of Mozzarella
– Block of Edam
– Gnocchi
– Tub of Sesame Snaps
– Tub of Milo
– Case of James Squire Golden Ale (for the end game)

Undecided on if I’m having take away for dinner later on. Anyways, the workstation where I will be spending about 95% of the next 48 hours:

Food and drink supplies to the right, code straight ahead.

My first thought was, “OMG, he codes with a keyboard…Epic”. Then I noticed the actual computer keyboard. Good luck man.

Escape the Something

I haven’t figured out what the something will be yet, but it is definitely something you’ll want to escape from. Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife, and hide yo’ triangular chunky pixel placeholder spaceships, cuz it’s rapin’ errybody out heeya (subject to change).

Escape the Something

Not much yet.

It’s not much but I think it looks pretty nice for 5 hours of work… 5 hours already?!?

First time! AS3 + FlashDevelop. Whatever for images and probably bfxr for sound.

Knee deep in improv….

This is my first LD entry, and it should be lots of fun, or at least very interesting!

I was thinking of possibly using C#/XNA, but I recently decided I will be coding in C++ instead. As a result, I’ll be using a new framework I started writing only a couple of days ago, and a bunch of other libraries of which I have little or no experience using. So the goal is to keep it simple. :) In a short moment we’ll all know the theme, at which point I can start pondering on the gameplay. Lots of improv (and learning) ahead!

Libraries used: SFML, OpenGL, boost, Eigen, and possibly lots more.

You can find the source code here: https://bitbucket.org/Trancelucid/ludum-dare

I’m in.

This is my second Ludum Dare. I’ll be using the same tools as last time; Gamemaker 7, bfxr/GoldWave for sound effects, and GraphicsGale/MSPaint for graphics. I wanted to use AS3 this time, but I didn’t learn enough in the past few months so I’ll be using Gamemaker again. I might use pxtone Collage for music.

Can’t wait!

Waiting for the theme… Now I don’t know what will I use really. It depends on the theme.
But will be something JS-ish… If not, JAVA-ish. Worst case, C-ish…

I’ll just lie here and wait. Then I’ll go to sleep… GMT+1 here in Portugal…

I’m In Again.

I’m looking forward to the start of this next compo. Once again I’m going to try a platform I have never even touched before. Yeah, I know, it is crazy to do and not suggested. For me it is half of the fun. Unity looks simple and easy to get going in. Should be easier than doing everything in lwjgl like I have been. Good luck everyone and I can’t wait to see what comes out of this. Ludum Dare participants always surprise me.

I´m in!

Hi everyone! I´ll be participating in my first Ludum Dare. I´ll make the game with OpenGL and C++. I´ll also be using freetype for fonts (Thanks Nehe), OpenAL for music using FLstudio and GIMP for graphics. Here is some of the code i´ll be using as a base for the game. It is based on another unfinished game from wich i will use the framework. It is kind of messed up but i promise to tidy it up for the end of the compo :)

Good luck to everyone!

I found a table

This is an elite table too, grade A, it was designed by Herman Miller and I found it in the garbage.

  • SFML
  • The GIMP
  • Bfxr

  • gLapse
  • Johnnie Walker Red Label

    Good luck everyone!

IRC isn’t working right! Chat here!

So IRC is getting SLAMMED! But our live stream chat is open for anyone wanting to talk about ludum dare stuff! http://livestream.com/ludumdare

Last minute “I’m In”

Okay, so I meant to do this a little while ago, but I’m most definitely in!

I’ll be developing in c++ using a (very small) framework available http://eternallydisputed.com/site/index.php?page=downloads&type=entry&id=ludum_dare%2Fdownload

My choice of libraries will be entirely dependant on the theme, but will be a toss up between SFML and Irrlicht depending on what I want. Also I’ve set myself a schedule to try to stick to because I’m horrible at keeping track of my time. If you for some reason want a look, here it is https://docs.google.com/a/dezzles.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoJxrjDhQdyKdGZ6ZE5BdFJwUXR1WHhsUGFvYmxtbFE&hl=en_US#gid=0 it should hopefully keep me going.

All the best, Dezzles

Pre-Dare Prep

Just got back from a run to the store to grab some of my guilty-pleasures.

My laptop is powered up and ready, I got a thing of cookies, a keg glass of water (yes, a keg glass), and a plethora of writing implements and paper for planning.

LETS DO THIS!

I’m in! I’m in! I’m in!

I’m in this time and i’m gonna jam with a friend of mine.

we will be using something java-ish …..maybe….

man… i should have prepared some more :)

this will be our workplace for now:

good luck to everybody!

btw… anybody sharing the same fate as me? it’s freaking 4am here in germany^^

I’m in

I’m definitely entering this Ludum Dare, since I missed the latest one, which was gonna be my first one, haha. Anyway I’m probably gonna be using XNA, but I might use Java or SDL/C++.  I will for sure be using paint.NET for graphics.

I’m All Ready

I decided to whip a quick site together where I will post my progress.

Below is the link :)

OH GOD I’M RUSHING INTO THIS

Hello, Ludum Dare!  I’m a first-timer who really should’ve lurked moar before jumping into the competition, but since all the cool kids are posting here and declaring what tools they’re using, I figure it’d be prudent to do the same:

Code: AS3 (with Flash CS3) or JavaScript (with Unity3D – free version), depending on the theme ‘n such

Visuals: Photoshop CS3 and Flash CS3

Sound effects: Bfxr looks cool.  Maybe Famitracker if I decide to go 8-bit (don’t have/know how to use Flixel, though)

Music: GarageBand, Audacity, and/or Famitracker

Here’s hoping I make it to the finish line in one piece! 😉
