I’m in… a bit late!

This post is very late, but I’m in (as I said in the video).  The base for my game was rushed as I ran into trouble specifically with the title bar in Java so I had to run it border less and create my own title bar.  I couldn’t get the MouseListener working in time so I will have to do that during Ludum Dare.  Hopefully I can actually make something!  I will be using Photoshop/Paint for graphics and as for sound I am not 100% sure yet!

While I was making this post, Ludum Dare has started O.o

These are my base game files.

I didn’t include any logos as they are top secret, and the title bar is a place holder.

Always late, but (seldom) worth the wait…

What are the chances? I randomly checked the site on a whim late in the day, my girlfriend is out of town for the weekend, and I just wiped and reinstalled everything and have a shiny new kernel, shiny new (but configured properly!) allegro, shiny new GCC and tons of disk space.

Aaaand a theme I totally am down with.

Wheeeeeee!

So it begins

I have been up far to long anticipiating the start of this event, so I will start by going to bed. bbl.

I NEVER SLEEP

CUZ SLEEP IS THE COUSIN OF DEATH

Escape

Escaping? Escapees… Hmm….

I’m just staring at #182A63, trying to come up with some sort of idea….

Escaping a Prison or some dragon beast thing is the only thing that’s come to me… Neither of them are good enough…

Stuck….. Hmmmmmmmm…. Let’s go see what other people are saying?

Finally doing Ludum Dare!

So, I’ve finally decided to participate in Ludum Dare – the game will be made in Java. I might end up using some libgdx stuff since I’ve been using that lately and it’s stuck in my brain…not sure how advisable that is, but we’ll see.

Also, I’ll be streaming my Ludum Dare progress here unless I chicken out: http://www.livestream.com/ludum?t=596087

Planning My Escape

Another exciting Ludum Dare! Got an idea and I’m rolling with it. Using Unity 3 pro, Blender, and Gimp.

Last Ludum Dare, I started a project that I’ve been hammering away on until today. It’s a first person platformer called Against the Wall. If this new LD project turns out to be any good, I’ll be sure to develop it further. Here’s to a good LD, and good luck to all you folks out there!

I’m in

Late, but I’m in, using:

Gimp

Audacity+sfxr

Anvil Studio

Eclipse

gonna make a java applet again.

Base Code

Chaoslab entry

Escape Time!

Going for 48!

Programming
Java / Eclipse / Eldian (if needed, my own IDE, you wouldn’t like it)

LWJGL / Slick2D / Lib / JMF (maybe) / My own Sprite stuff (in zip)

GIT – Digital Asset Management and having my back as I hack

Paint Shop Pro

Hand Drawn and Painted Art.

Sound / Music

Got a game idea, working on game

Got this idea that kinda sounds fun… I don’t know if i should trust myself, though…

Escape, eh??

Hmm. I was nonchalant about that.

Ah well. Time to sleep on the theme. Night guys 😀

So 30 Minutes in

So its 30 minutes in to LD21, and all I have is this:

A deformed face thing. Wonderful.

Hahaha.

Raw Feed from my Brain

My ideas so far (direct from the recesses of my mind):
1. Some sort of racing game with something chasing you that you have to escape
2. Escape from the wild. Some sort of RPG-ish thing.
3. Escape from the army. Maybe like a platformer. Could have interesting mechanics in both having to fight off the enemy (or not? ally the enemy?) and avoid detection by your nation.
4. Use sepia-tone graphics somehow…
5. Mash the escape button. Not sure how this turns into a game…
6. Something where you don’t know what you’re escaping from, and the goal is to find out.
7. Escape the internet/technology. Something about destroying infrastructure related to the internet (because let’s be honest, how else would you escape it?).
8. Escape stress/time pressure. ???
9. Something where “Escape” doesn’t come first in the sentence…
10. Escape daily life. Something about getting away from routines. Could be set in some sort of dictatorship that enforces routines.

Late (Sorry!) But I’m in.

Hope you can still let me in here :)

Anyways,

Code: Game Maker

Visuals: MS Paint, Paint.NET

Sound effects: sfxr

Music: Anvil Studio and Audacity

Good luck to everyone! :)

Dawn of the First Day

~72 hours remain.

Okay, so it’s not really dawn, and it’s a little less than 72 now… but lets not ruin my silly reference with nitpicky details.

No solid ideas for this theme just yet, but I’ll toy around with it and see what I can come up with. Currently a platformer or a roguelike sound the most appealing. I already have a base platforming engine so that’s probably the easiest choice at the moment…

Time to get started! Good luck everyone!

Rather than formulate a story first…

I’ve decided to shape what the character will be like.

In doing so, I’ve also picked the palette and mood for the game….

Almost macabre, but I feel like I’m only picking it to make Hope very obvious…. I guess that’s the point of “Escape” anyways.

That’s not going to be my full rationalization, by the way.

I’m in!

I’ll be using flexsdk with the aid of flashdevelop.

Its late enough to sleep around here, so, see you tomorrow!

Maybe I will this time.

Declaration of crap.

  • Language: C
  • Main lib: Allegro 4
  • Sound lib: libdumb
  • Music tool: SchismTracker, as usual
  • Codebase: None

That’s all you really need to know.

Sad :-(

Can’t make this one. It’s my son’s third birthday this weekend, so absenteeism would be frowned upon.

Great theme. Sad to miss it. Catch you all on the flip side.
