Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

Need some Help

I made a Game for Compo using Game Maker Studio, and I plan on uploading on Dropbox, but I’m not sure how to include the Source code with it. Can someone help me?

The project folder for your game uploaded as a .zip file :]

Entry

I’m to tired to write about my entry, or add any fancy visuals (mostly because my game doesn’t have any).

I’m done

And wow, I am tired. I think I’ll try to write a post-mortem tomorrow, but it is 3:30 am here now, and I just wanna go to bed. Really crunch into the last minute.

Take a look though. It kind of came together at the end.

Bedtime update #2 ☆

It’s about 03:30 on the second day, nearing the morning of the third. We’re doing the jam, so there’s one day left for us. Nonetheless Ava is already in crunch mode while Marte went to bed hours ago—there’s so much stuff to add to the room! Mechanics are mostly in place but aren’t really used yet since the room needs to be filled first, so enjoy a temporary bit of silliness in the meantime!

Papers Please 1984

Didn’t quite turn out how I imagined but do they ever? This game almost didn’t happen as I was absolutely depleted of motivation. Fighting stupid UI-y stuff and then fighting the shitty aftermath of scripts afterwards, oh god.

Anyway in the game you play as an employee in the Ministry of Truth and you work like normal, editing newspapers and such but then the resistance contacts you and oh boy. You’re going to have to play it to find out what happens after that.

The game is set in the Orwellian (literally) world of 1984 and the gameplay is very much inspired by Papers Please. You edit newspapers instead of checking passports though so I’m still original, right?

I hope you’ll give it a try;

Enjoy!

Try out my game here!

It’s been a long time coming… but I’m proud to have released my first public Game! (good one, at least). Entry is for the Compo, don’t be afraid to hold back on Commentary! All will be read and considered. Go to the Entry Page for the… “story” description, and without further ado…..

Rworld

Hi everybody,

I just posted my game Rworld, it’s a platform game with a rotation of the room mechanic.

Here is a preview:

Room Fight!

It’s been almost 4 years since my last Ludum Dare. It’s good to be back!

This time around I made a game called “Room Fight” where you control the room, not the characters. Move the room around and attack other rooms to reach the goal.

Glad to Finish!!

Well, for my second Ludum Dare, and about 5 months of experience in coding. I think I did pretty good!

Cute

You can find it here

This is probably the best prototype I’ve ever made, let-alone in 2 days. The stress of the time limit really helped motivate me, as I’m sure it did many others. I spent about 4 hours just on weapon swapping, which I ended up scrapping 3 times until I got something to work. Hell, that was the reason I only got four hours of sleep yesterday.  Yes, the game is still buggy (Even the main menu title is miss spelled, AND settings don’t work either), but I’m happy with what I have.

Space Junk [Room] submitted

It’s 3:33 am here now and in 3 hours I will get up for my day-job. Great :)

I am happy to have completed my second Ludum Dare. This time I spent 20 hours (instead of 32 last time) for reasons mentioned in my last postmortem; I didn’t want LD to make me totally anti-social during the weekend. So I managed to ride motocross with a mate of mine like I normally do on Saturdays. Went Christmas shopping and ate out with my wife and 3 kids. Got a haircut. Played with the kids and cleaned the house (normal Sunday stuff.) I had doubts that I would finish a game in time but the last 12 hour session did the trick.

I will be submitting a full postmortem again with time lapse and deeper assessments of the good and bad of my LD37 experience.

All done!

ScreenShot00016

I’ve uploaded my game, Plastic Regiment. Play it here. I’ll hopefully have a post mortem and HTML5 version out later.

Done !! kind of…

Here’s my 2nd compo entry (3rd ludum dare), and again it’s unfinished… but hey it’s still something !

Check it out here:

PS : if you’re in the same case don’t forfeit, you have nothing to lose.

We need a hero! NOW!

Your lifelong dream is to become a super hero! Then you are almost the perfect match for this game! Well, you are the control room person managing the heroes, hire new and replace fallen ones. It wasn’t your fault that you send Mr. Underpants directly to his date with Dr. Death… Sure…

Play this Super Hero Management Simulator right now!

[Day 2] Progess 2

Day 2 has been rough, I couldn’t work as much as I wanted on my entry because of more important things.
On one hand, I think I’ve got something and that’s pretty good. On the other, I don’t have a good feeling for this game, I may have overestimated my abilities to handle time.

I don’t have a good feeling for this entry but I’ll finish it nonetheless (as my alcoholic neighbour always said : “NEVER QUIT !”).

I tried to add more juice to the gameplay, it’s better than this morning but…meh. Oh ! And sound ! My last entry was really lacking that. I’ll pull an all nighter and see what comes next. But it’s not going as expected.

My goals are :

-1 or 2 boss.
-A few more ennemies (1 or 2)
-A rough combo system for fighting
-More animations

Anyway, here’s wonderwall :

and once again, here’s the timelapse, the first hour is missing because I’m a derp :

Factory Post Mortem

Sometimes in your life everything comes into place. Other times not as much. This time I finished 2 hours before the end of the Compo entry. Sure I could have added more content or polish some of the features but in the end what I got was an actual game!!!

Taking into account I had more experience coming into this LD (this is my third one) and the first day I was hangover because of my birthday, I can only be proud of what I did and what I learned.

I had most of the 16 Final Round themes planned out with a basic idea of what I would do for each one of them. In the end the idea I used for “One Room” wasn’t my original idea but one from another theme (“Salvage and Repair”).

Too tired ….

I can sleep now…

So many features left undone … ah well, it has a nice feel and you can see what I was going for :-)

zzzzz

Level 1 done

Things took rather longer than I expected, and had to refactor a few things to cope with a smaller game area, and then quite a bit of fiddling to get things to work as I wanted, but the behaviours I wanted in the first level are just about done 😀

level1

Now to see how far I get once I’m home from work tomorrow!
