Never been happier to see a beer!

My 2nd Ludum ever and first compo! It was goddamn difficult, I haven’t slept for 28 hours, BUT I MADE IT! Feel satisfied) While my game ain’t the best and majority of planned features were cut off, I’m really proud of it.
Some lessons for future LD:
Thank you for your attention, see you next time!

My game is done, I got it submitted 10 seconds before 10. Oh my god that was close for the compo. It is a puzzle game with lots of music and bright colors. The story is that you are a robot who lost a friend to a giant sea monster, so you have to complete the monster’s quests to get your friend back. If you can get to the end, there is a dance level with your friend, and after that something really exciting… A level editor!! The levels get harder, and the last level-with crates to push- gets really hard. But if you can complete it, you will be rewarded a lot. I really hope you enjoy! I only slept 17 hours, did other waking time things(other than ludum dare i mean) for 3 hours, and I spent 28 hours on the game. Almost nonstop. I am sooo happy with my game.

We got a fun game. I always giggle when looking at art from beautiful Ksenia. Week break and we will continue to develop the game. Please write what you liked about the game – what are things we should continue to focus on.

Needle in a Neighborhood is nearing completion (except for, like, all of the audio) and it’s looking fairly good. More rooms have been added, the titular needle is now in the game, the mouse look is finally all done, and we have proper title and end screens.

We could still use more unique rooms to search through to find the One Room with the needle, and my (Budaniel’s) 3D modeling skills could still stand improvement, but thus far we’re pretty pleased with our entry. With less than 24 hours to get all the music and sound effects recorded and in the game, it could be a hectic last day for us, but with the mechanical and visual aspects of the game nailed down already, that frees us up to focus on just those last pieces tomorrow.
I finished my game earlier, now submitted for compo!
You’ve just been opened; you’re the new Super Battle Cycle.
There’s one problem: the other toys don’t like you.
You must become the ultimate battle cycle driving champion and defeat the other toys!
Table Jockey is out!

It’s kinda like a physics-based Tetris with furniture instead of shapes. Not exactly what I set out to build, but surprisingly fun!

Play as a bear!
Kill enchanted household items!
Get tons of money!
Buy upgrades!
I had a lot of fun making this one. Good luck to all the participants!
So, yeah… I scoped too big (even though I thought it was small) and I worked too slowly…
Well, I’ll do what I can tomorrow and post whatever I can, even if that’s just screenshots. Still, I learned some new stuff so it wasn’t a total wast of time. Kinda sad though. Well, see you all tomorrow…
Despite going to a wedding and an early Christmas party this weekend I managed to find time to make a game: Five Star Hotel.
Premise:
You are running a hotel with only one room. Get your room to all the guests to keep them happy, and don’t forget to give the king extra room time! If you don’t get the room to a guest in time, they will leave and your rating will drop! Survive the fast paced chaos of running a hotel for 30 days, and see how many stars you can keep, if any at all! Lose all your stars… and its game over!

Available on: Android (via Google Play), Windows, and Online.
Check it out here: Five Star Hotel

rewrote rendering code. but I’m tired…too tired-nya.
This is the game I submitted for compo few hours earlier:

![]()
Titled “Guardian”.
I originally liked “Wait, are we bad guys?” idea more, so I converted it to fit the “one room” theme. you defend one room from invaders.
Two days timeframe was not enough to create and animate more characters than this, and I by the end I had to siginficiantly speed things up.
In the end I (again) had no time to implement sounds or music.
Lessons learned in the process:
Lots of ideas were cut and abandoned due to the time constraint.
The game made using Unity3d, monodevelop, blender, clip studio and gimp.

A lot of good things are happening Basic Puzzles are coming along, The game is starting to look really good, the end is in sight only….19 hours remaining till the deadline. Still no sound and the story isn’t set yet so I need to get on that super hard. Unfortunately I have work, the amount of work I’ll be able to get done may vary depending on if I have to put out fires.
Anyway, I’m going to be streaming when I get on after I take a quick pass out session and then it’s back to work!
Follow me on twitter to find out when I’m getting back on:

Steady progress! Our main todos left are: finish up level design/gameplay, fix all issues playtesters had, figure out music.
Good luck jammers, and congrats to everyone who submitted already!

Now that I’ve taken a break I’d like to summarize my LD 😀
The last day has been an interesting one for me as I believe it has been for many. However, honestly I had no intention on participating in the ludum dare this weekend, and it was only after lunch yesterday I took a peek at the theme and was instantly inspired. The theme is one I have seen in many other game jams in the past but I have never been driven to participate. By the time I had started Gamemaker Studio, the first 26 hours of the compo was already passed so I thought I’d make something simple and just have a little fun with the theme.
A few hours later I was waist deep in code and quickly hacking together an online multiplayer server to serve as the core for a simple competitive platforming game. Last night I went to sleep with a menu and multiplayer sussed but was yet to even begin the core game play and had no idea where I would find the time. So with 4 hours sleep I pushed this morning to get a functioning game and managed to cobble together platforming mechanics, very simple random level generation and the win condition with only 20 mins before the deadline. It’s safe to say that while this isn’t my best work, I’m super proud that I was able to pull it together, and even though I was unable to add barely any of the features I had in mind, I believe this game has far more potential with a little work and look forward to playing around 😀
Furthermore I’m going to rest and get ready to hopefully play a heap of LD games over the coming days. I’m going to be running the online server for my game ‘Royal Rise’ continuously while I play other games, so I welcome you to try it out (Keeping in mind that I’m in New Zealand so there may be some latency). Good luck to those still pushing for the Jam!! I have already seen some awesome gifs of games I just cant wait to play
Anywho, I guess it would be appropriate to gift a couple gifs of my simple platform game:

Looking forward to getting to use the new site fully in the future.
Unfortunately I missed the deadline for the 48hour compo submission. Although progress has been pretty great, there just wasn’t enough game play to warrant releasing it. Instead, after work today I’m going to try and add some basic objectives which uses the current game mechanics and create a jam submission.
