Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

First LD, trying something simple.

How about a roguelike/survival text adventure? Still in progress, but I named it:

One man, one house, one city

I did it!

Screen1

I really did it!
It was a harsh weekend with a lot of things distracting me from the jam, but I barely managed to finish the main mechanics and 8 levels. For sure, I would have loved adding more animations, more feedbacks, more code and more graphisms… but well, I did it. That’s the most important thing right? :)

Screen4

Here is the pitch:

The end of the world is coming. But only one room is left in the last convoy wich lead to the last safe place in the world.
Choose which people will be before which one. Each character has its own strengh and weakness. Put them in a specific order to defeat the obstacles and see what happen.
If more than one people are saved, you loose.
If no people are saved, you loose.
Sometimes sacrifice is necessary…

One Room Hotel Timelapse

One Room Hotel Timelapse!

reviews

You are the manager of a bustling hotel. It is praised in newspapers across the country.

But it has a dirty, dirty secret.

It only has one room.

Naturally, if this got out, people would stop going to your hotel!

So, make sure nobody finds out and speedily get them in and out of the room!

We all like it, aren’t we?

  • Hey, do you like low-poly furniture in your isometric room?
  • Of course!
  • Even with purple placeholder blocks in the middle?
  • Especially with that!

My Entry – Escapism – Horror Game

This is my second attempt at Ludum Dare but first successful Entry.

Being inspired by classic horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and the recent Playable Teaser by Hideo Kojima, I’ve been wanting to make a horror game for a while. So, the one room theme seemed like a good fit. Initial Idea was “don’t go in that one room”. Wanted to have the player explore, finding clues and objects eluding to the horrors that lie within the forbidden room.

Screenshot of Escapism

There was not enough time to implement much of was was intended. Only the main corridor loop and character were finished, lights changing, doors opening and shutting and puzzles didn’t make it.

Main focus was art & design as I’m not much of a coder and I’m pleased with the result and what got done in such a short time.

Here’s a time lapse of the 2 days, missed a bit in the middle where I sculpted the monster unfortunately.

here’s the entry: Ludum Dare #37 Entry: Escapism

Let me know what you think, all feedback and criticism are welcome and appreciated.

Good luck to those Who are still jamming it out.

Can’t rate submissions because my team-mate sent in our game

Well the title pretty much sums it up very nicely.

Is there any way to also get counted as a developer for this jam (or even for our game)?

This art is just adorable.

How I feel after competing in my first Ludum Dare

I feel like it was a GREAT experience for me! This is the most accomplished I’ve felt so far when it comes to game development. As a 14 year old I didn’t expect to finish! I’m looking forward to playing all of your games!

What I feel went right:
I feel that I got in the core features to make the game fun
The lighting effects
The particles (im surprised about that one!)
Finishing on time

What could’ve been better:
Adding just a few more features and working on the overall graphics such as atmosphere

This was an amazing experience and I can’t wait for the next one!

Update 3

Before day 3ezgif.com-optimize-5 ezgif.com-optimize-6

We’re out… I guess

Since sunday was practically fully spent in bed and today started with a visit to the doctor for both of us, our game won’t make it. Yay for a good start in the first ludum dare -.- Health issues suck.

Anyway, great to see so many people still working (or submitting). I’m looking forward to playing some cool games.
Keep it up, folks! 😀

Just a quick GIF showing off that the second level is very nearly complete.

At least I’ll have two levels for people to play, however I’ll just keep making levels/loops until the time’s up 😀 Hope everyone’s jam is going well ^-^

ZROOMERS is done!

Super happy with how this turned out! I made a small adjustment to the steering this morning, though I quite liked the older version other people had difficulty playing it.
