LD37: Ghost Brawl

What a wild ride this was.  After having some major issues with the build, re-writing all the collision detection scripts, and all the other hurdles I’ve had in this project, I’m finally happy to announce that I have finished.

My jam entry is: Ghost Brawl!

I created it with the idea of some sort of puppet show.  You use your puppet arms to punch ghosts, guarding your beer from the nefarious undead.

I focused a lot on mechanim and animations, getting each element to feel like it was a puppet production.  Lots of wiggle and the little black puppeteer sticks and so forth.  I also wanted to try to have a hidden systems for the tutorial and UI.  In this case, the tutorial is the menu.  Nothing says “start”, just what the buttons are.  My hope is that players will intuitively press the button, which starts the game.  Also, using visual objects and lights in the game, I’ve set up a crude UI in the world, and I’m hoping that people will “get” it.

Also, an early vid of the project can be found on my twitter

Thanks for reading this and happy LD37 everyone!

My Game: Dungeon 2.0

This post is being made late: I submitted my game yesterday around seven, but I was too tired of messing with it to write this post. 😛

Just so it’s clear: it is a compo entry.

It is called “Dungeon 2.0,” and, essentially, is a combination between a medieval RPG, complete with leveling up and skill trees, and a classic arcade-style game – in this case, it’s merely “try not to die,” because I was too lazy to implement a score at the end.

Here’s a webm: (the gif source for this is 70mb :P)

If you wish to play my game, you can find it here. It’s probably my best Ludum Dare game,  and I think that’s because it actually has replay value – most of my other better games were still not very fun after they had been played all the way through.

I do want to port this game to Android, and I’ve started, sort of, but I’m not sure if that’ll actually happen for a while.

I would also really appreciate feedback about how well this game is balanced – I tried to balance it a bit at the end, but I think it’s still somewhat unbalanced. If you find some part of it way too easy or way too hard, please let me know! Thanks!

Janusz left his cave!

Hi!

Finally after those 3 exhausting days we managed to publish the Janusz: The handyman simulator. The game about polish handyman who wants to help the woman renovating her room. It’s quite primitive as you can only paint and hang the picture however that’s all what we managed to do within three days – definitely will come back to this project!

First time I get to finish!

You can download it here. Be sure to leave a comment if you can. Any suggestion/criticism is welcome!

Try out our first Ludum Dare Jam submission, Annoying Fly!

– Be in a role of a fly which is…well annoying!

– Have fun irritating people, but be careful, they can pack quite a punch!

– Don’t forget to rest a bit, flies are also living beings!

First game ever: Escape From Man Cave

Starting a LD for the third time and I finally have a game worthy to be submitted.

Answer the movie trailer questions and escape the room

To get a finished product I chose to use 3rd party assets, so I automaticly joined the Jam instead of the compo.
I still had to cut some corners in the end to insert the menu, intro, win and lose elements.

Hope you will enjoy playing my game as much as I enjoyed making it!

Play Escape From Man Cave

Wrap up!

We finally after those three days finished our game about catching Pizzas 😀 What a fun weekend

Game!

Finally I can browse reddit in peace!

It’s done!

After almost 3 days, our game is done! Our epic Hack’n’Slash game full of action!
Our path from start to finish have been quite problem free. Our problems only started just
now, when we couldn’t get the web version of our game working. But still we have Linux, Mac and
of course Windows builds available, which is nice.

A raid full of heroes who are hungry for epic loot have invaded your lair.
Do you have the skills to defend the Boss Room!?

Blind Man’s Room – a game I made for LD Jam 37

Captura de pantalla 2016-12-13 13.39.29

As a blind man in prison, freedom is in the mind.
But your mind is haunted by Nightmares.
Find the key.
Escape yourself.

So I made it for the Jam! W00t! Had to go solo for this one. I learned many things, mainly that game jam ideas not only have to be small in scope but small in how you think of your design & code. Everything from how you implement hit collision detection to how you story will be told has to be small, concise, and fast — fast — FAST!

Thanks everyone, after some rest I will play all your games!! Pumped.

I would be very thankful if you play — BLIND MAN’S ROOM

This was the best weekend ever.

Being my first ever attempt at ludum dare, I’m pretty happy with the week end : I finally finished a game, had so much fun with people on different chat on the internet, and worked more than I thought I ever could.

Living in Europe meant the LD was starting saturday at 3am. I just got in bed as early as I could on friday to wake up around 4am.

I worked all this time while watching different streams of people jamming, most notably Quill18, who is the reason I started programming again 3 month ago :)

If anyone wants to check my submission

(Also… why cant I add pictures on the blog post ?)

LD37 Delivery Boy(Edit : Now I can !)

Thanks you everyone for those few days :)
