First participation in Ludum dare!

Hello all, I’m Konogan.

It’s the first time I enter something like this and hope to have a lot of fun! My goal here is to see if I can actually make a game and finish it. I never actually finished a game or truly programmed one (Unless you count The Game Factory and Multimedia Fusion).

I’m going to Use C# with XNA (Really sorry, Mac/Linux. I’m planning to learn Java in the following year. :P).

Hope to have a great time and make a great (I’ll try as hard as I can) game.

Good luck all!

I’m in again.

I’m in for Ludum Dare #22. I still use the same tools:

  • GIMP
  • Gamemaker

I’m looking forward to it. 😉

Its just over three hours to zero hour!

I actually planned on working on my game this weekend but heck!
Ludum Dare doesnt happen everyday.

Being predominantly a 3d artist its exciting to join a game development competition for a change, lets see if all those hours chipping away at C# in Unity pay off XD

So to sum up, let us all have a bitchin time!

By the way, does anyone know how I can change my avatar, there doesnt seem to be any option for it on the profile settings page.

Yet Another I’m In Post

Hey there. I’m really happy it’s swung round to Ludum Dare time again. Love this stuff.

I’m going to be doing flash game stuff, either with FlashPunk, or else my custom base code thing. FlashPunk is probably better, but I’ve spent a lot more time with my home rolled basecode, so I’ll just have to see what I feel like tomorrow.

I seem to have done a fair handful of these now. In fact, this will by my 6th. They don’t get any less exciting, roll on the theme :)

Looking forward to seeing what you do! :)

I’m in, again.

Ok, I know I already posted, but here’s a better post:
I’m in! Using Game Maker Trial Version and Bfxr, I am entering my first ever Ludum Dare. Don’t expect Skyrim. In fact, expect something with poor graphics, glitchy gameplay, yet slightly innovative and at times humorous ideas. I’ll have fun, either way.

Obligatory desktop picture:

You’ve got the auld laptop, Bamboo Tablet, Satiek Joystick, two mice (one wireless), spare keyboard (because one just doesn’t radiate enough game programmerness) and an iPod Touch.

Also, elephant is peeping out from behind my laptop to give me emotional support.

Not pictured: Game Pedals (beneath desk) and the supplies of tea and olives to slurp and munch while I go.

Okay, the second mouse and keyboard may not have been totally necessary, but they I promised to actually use them, and at least the keyboard will add an air of badassness to multiplayer play. Much better than hunching over one between you.

Anyway, good luck to all our competitors and jammers!

I am in!

Will be participating in Ludum Dare for the first time. So stoked!

Will be using the following:

XNA Framework (C#)

GIMP/ASE

Audacity/OPEN MPT / MUSAGI

SFXR

Hopefully all goes well! Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

I’ve no idea what any of this is about, but I see people saying things on a post section of this website! This is my first Ludum Dare – nothing will go to plan whatsoever, but I hope to get past the opening sequence.

I’ll be using C++, and the Ogre3D rendering engine with OIS I/O and a sound library I haven’t found yet nor used before. If I get around to GUIs I’ll use CEGUI. Also, the tutorials and sample frameworks on Ogre3d’s wiki.

I’ve never finished a game before in C++, and almost definitely will not do again. It’ll still be fun!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I’m also using some code I used before in my only existing C++ project.

We’re in – GreenTape

Steve – @SteveUbach

Chris – @TheYayahkeekoot

We’ll be using the following elements:

I’m in

for the second time!

Last time I used Slick, but ran into some problems and I decided to use plain old Java2D this time. I’m curious how that will go and if I’ll run into performance problems. Over the last week I have started work on a tiny little framework so I can swap the renderer out easily should I run into serious problems. Since I want to take part in the competition, here’s the download: Clicky here
(I really, really advise you not to use it, it’s not even finished yet.)

So my tools will be:
Graphics: Java 2D (AWT)
Sound effects: sfxr
Music: Either nothing or FL Studio
Sprites: Photoshop/Paint.NET

Last time my goal was to finish my game and not make the worst game. I succeeded and for this time I decided that I want to get in the top 66%. Since I learned a LOT in the last few months I feel this is a realistic goal.

Good luck everyone and have fun! 😀

A few hours later after some unconciousness…

So my companies xmas party was last night! There was a significant quantity of whiskey, absinthe, gin and beer consumed. There is no hangover yet, I have barely slept, and I’m about to go stock up on delicious food stuffs and fruit juice pre-LD! Awwww yeah!

Morning after Neilogd

I’m in! :D

Hopefully this post will force me to release -something- of a game.

  • Javascript
  • Paint.NET
  • sfxr/audacity/microphone?
  • Attempt at vim

Plan for this ludum dare is to make the simplest possible game and finish with some time spare for polish. Then again that’s the plan for every 48 hour competition and I always end up with some more difficult mechanic which takes ages.

I’ll be using flashpunk and probably sfxr and paint.net.

The competition starts at 2am here so I’m going to get some sleep and be ready to start early tomorrow morning

My Workspace

My desktop clean and ready for Ludum Dare 22

What’s the anime series on the screen?

I’m in!

I’m alone most of the weekend and I need some motivation to work on my game ideas, so I decided to try Ludum Dare. I’m going to use LOVE 0.7.2 as a framework, GIMP for graphics and sfxr for sound. I will record the whole 48 hours (and a bit more).

Let’s have some fun!

Checklist

  • NetBeans IDE
  • Slick 2D
  • GIMP
  • Audacity
  • bfxr
  • atrk & SchismTracker
  • 1.5l bottle of Coke
  • recordmydesktop

Guess I’m ready for my first LD. Still not sure if I’m going for component based or hereditary entities, still no idea how I’m going to make decent graphics.
At least the ‘framework’ is up and running.

Goals:

  1. Beat Notch
  2. Finish game

Greetings out to all you other guys participating (good luck!), .joe, v3nd3tta and Daylen.

Also, kittens.

Entry declaration

Decided to enter last minute.

This time I’ll be attempting to use Flash Punk to make my game. I’ll use paint.net for the artwork and SFXR for any sound effects if needed.

Edit: Oh and I’ll be using the Ogmo editor for any tile-based level editing if its needed.

WOO SUPER EXCITED

So yeah this is gonna be my first Ludum Dare.  I’m gonna make it in Multimedia Fusion 2 which I’m assuming they have no problem with.  I just hope their okay with getting the source as a .mfa.  I’m just about as amateur as they come, so this’ll be quite an experience.  Overall, I’ll be satisfied just as long as I think what I make is fun.  I’ve started a lot of projects that I’ve abandoned because they weren’t any fun, so it’ll be quite a challenge to get that fun factor in only 48 hours.  My communitying sucks lol.

Preparations for the Weekend

Pinkie Pie is ready for the competition.

So, I’m cleaning my desk and room, getting my tools in order and preparing for the big weekend, when some of my friends walk up to my door bearing gifts of the pony kind. Pinkie Pie is now a member of the team, along with her remarkably-similar-to-the-Water-Medallion snowflake thing. (Does this make me ineligible for the Dare?)

Workspace shot after the jump.

This feels very unusual for me, having a clean desk. This only happens once every year, right before Christmas. I promise that I don’t watch American Football. I said the same thing last year and I still haven’t gotten a mouse pad to replace it.

One final conclusive list of tools:

  • Eclipse for Java
  • Sun Java SE 7
  • jMonkeyEngine 3 (one of the nightlies, probably 12/15/2011), using an orthographic camera mode to use it for 2D stuff
  • bfxr for sound effects
  • PXTone for music (shoutout to Pixel @amaya_pixel for being awesome)
  • TileStudio for sprites, tiles, and levels
  • Notepad++ for everything else
  • iTunes for Internet radio (and dnbradio.com deserves a mention here)
I will be releasing the code under the Modern BSD license once the game is finished, as per the LD48 rules regarding submissions. Nothing unusual for my works, and jME uses it as well so no special multi-license crap either.

Wait, where did Pinkie go in the second shot?
