Lighthouse's Vigil, my first time game jamming, has released!

wide.png

Welcome to this lighthouse. You are its keeper. Your beam guides lost souls to shore. Something dark creeps toward you when the beam isn't looking. You are the signal for these poor souls.

It is with great happiness that I submit my first game jam entry, with the incredible @sasori!

This is a very simple game, but one we've filled with our hearts.

I invite you all to play it and give your thoughts!

Here's a cool gif: vigil.gif

You can check it out in the link in our profiles!

Voice actors wanted for my Jam Game! (only 2 or 3 lines each)

My game is a voice acting extravaganza with nearly a dozen characters! But there are a few minor characters I haven't been able to find VA's for so if you're interested in recording a few lines, I would really appreciate it.

You don't need any special audio equipment; just a cell phone recording will do.

Here are the characters I still need:

Police A: 1 line, male, aggressive and shouting

Police B: 1 line, male, aggressive and shouting

Judge: 2 lines, middle-aged male or female, authoritative, serious, bureaucratic

Ellen Stevens: 3 lines, female, warm

If you're interested, please reply here or ping me on discord @zungryware

Thanks!

Games that are playable on a phone?

I'd like to play and rate some games, but at the moment I am without wifi. Any games out there that I can play in a browser on my phone? I've had good luck with pico-8 entries so far, but I can't find many of them.

From the Abyss [Compo]

Just finished designing the game pages. I’m so tired after 48 hours of hard work.

I hope you guys did great and took care of your health during the compo/jam.

Congrats to everyone on their new game, and good luck to all the jam participants with their projects!

The Hunt for Red April - Update #1

The Hunt for Red April is a submarine stealth game built around a single tension: sonar is your only way to see, but every ping you send reveals your position to the enemy.

the-hunt-proto-6.gif

Based on player feedback, and given that there's over 7 hours left before JAM ends, I decided to update the submarine to use tank controls.

You now use W/S or UP/DOWN to control the throttle and A/D or LEFT/RIGHT to turn. I do think the new controls are an improvement.

The game looks cool, but it sounds even better! Give it a try!

Love the atmosphere of Ludum Dare!

This is my first Ludum Dare ever and I just want to say that atmosphere here is so cool and chill! I love how everyone supports each other and discusses all this beautiful games together. And the games are REALLY good! You guys made masterpieces in 48 hours, it's mind blowing! I have already played 20 games, most of them were gems, and I've got 10 more saved that felt like good ones. I've been spending time here so nice, it feels like I belong here. Love you so much guys!<3

Throwing in the towel

It was sure yesterday already, but wanted to say that I have to drop out. With a heavy heart and a healthy dose of disappointment, but I wasn't able to work on my project. It's still going to be made, just not on the schedule. However I'll make sure to play some games, give feedbacks, and celebrate your games! I'm proud of you all!

Good luck to those in Jam, and great job to all Compos! And Extras, I see you! ;)

Hopefully see you next time :)

It was harder than I thought...

We participated in our first Ludum Dare as a team. Before that, we only had experience from one game jam. It turned out to be much more challenging than I expected. But hey — we actually made something in the end :)

Screenshot 2569-04-21 at 01.16.32.png

What I Needed

My girlfriend begged me to participate in ludem dare, and it was the best thing she could have done. Despite the stress, I managed to make my first 3D project in just 3 days from start to finish, as well as learning a little bit of 3D AI and navigation! I'm not the happiest with what I've got done, it's a bit rough around the edges, but just 3 days ago I had no games nor ideas at all.

Best of luck to everyone getting their games in on time! I hope to participate in as many of these as I can.

Send a signal

I need you to send a SIGNAL to the world.

We just released our game for this jam, Mixed//Signals! Play it on the web browser

This year, each of us created different microgames, which is why there are different styles and interpretations of what constitutes a signal. This allowed us to take this jam a bit more relaxed than usual and have more creative freedom.

I hope you enjoy it and let us know you highest scores!

I had no signal! – Trip went terribly wrong.

My little trip through the woods went terribly wrong.

I know I was being followed, but I didn't get caught. And although I found the cell phone tower, I couldn't call for help. I might still be out there, waiting.

All because my battery died at the worst possible moment.

Lighting the beacons!

since the last game jam I've been spending a lot of time on art, mostly figuring out color so applying that to pixel art has been a grate boon. last jam i tried to do animation on pixel art for our floor tiles and it was good fun and a nice point to dip my toes into the idea of animation I'm proud of learning so much even if it is a little rough at points :) but what is the Ludem dare if not a place to learn or hone your crafts! mermaid_sing2.gif The Signal500.gif

along side gifs i've been on making sprites for the bad guys Asprite is a God send. I thank god for the game grave yard keeper. its got lots of useful images to reference that have helped massively during the creative process. Fleshy Whale sick500.png Piret skeleton ghost500.png

even managed an animated boss thankfully a few of these bad guys can use the same "wire frame", or re-using color pallets form other bad guys to save on a lot of time. that and only being 64x64px it makes it far more simple to color The Pirate King Aura Animated500.gif I hope to see you to take a look at out little game The Light House Keeper

After years of putting it off, I finally did LD! And it's way too hard

I've been wanting to do this for years but something always came up. Now the stars have aligned and here is my first LD game. I hope someone gets a few minutes of enjoyment from it. I have learned so much and enjoyed this immensely.

I will definitely be carrying this forward and doing a lot more polish (starting with a massive scale down in difficulty).

Have fun.!

Balancing is a my nightmare

Hey! This is my entry - FLOCX

Movie_001-ezgif.com-optimize.gif

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/59/flocx

It’s a fast-paced Vampire Survivors–like, but instead of killing enemies directly, you throw a signal to lure them and drag the whole crowd into traps. The game is basically about positioning, kiting, and manipulating the flow of enemies.

It’s my first time doing this kind of game, and the balance ended up pretty brutal.

At some point I realized I had no idea how to tune it properly, so I built a small tool that graphs: enemies alive over time and upgrade timing:

tools.jpg

That alone saved me hours of blind tweaking.

Give it a try and let me know how it feels — especially the pacing and difficulty.

I tried

I probably won't be able to finish my shooter before the jam ends. But I tried my best.

However, the main reward is your game, so I generally intend to finish it, even if it's not within the jam's timeframe. изображениеem2026-04-20/em223241701.png

My first LD game

I have no prior experience in game development, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to make a good game in just 72 hours. That’s why I chose a simple platformer. I really enjoyed the process of creating something finished in such a short time. Even if it doesn't look mind-blowing, the fact that you actually finished something in 72 hours is cool in itself. Thanks for the jam! RATE GAME https://ldj.am/$425775 Screenshot 2026-04-21 003800.png Screenshot 2026-04-21 003945.png

Switchboard Sprites WIP

Had a blast as always, we all knew we wouldn't be able to give the jam our full potential this weekend due to our schedules, but I'm so proud of what we have so far! BlogPost-AdvertismentCroppedLowQuality.png Can't wait to play everyone else's game after we get some sleep :D Have fun everyone!

Casting in Lightkeeper

I made a game where you can send signals to local wizard and they will cast spells to assist you in fighting sea horrors.

lightning_opt.gif

I am afraid the main mechanics is difficult to get though.

The actual interaction is simple: you can either turn the light on or off.

However, there are sequences of three "actions" that make the wizard cast. E.g.: On, On, On makes the wizard cast lightning (on gif you can see three Fire icons on the lighthouse that show the signal). If you send Off, On, On the wizard will replenish your fuel. Etc.

It now feels like it is easy to miss how exactly the signal is sent, forget about signals existing at all and lose, without understanding why.

Could you folks try it and share what you think about the signals system? Really appreciate your feedback!

Here is the game

P.S. Ghost ship on the gif is the final boss of the game actually :) Let me know if you saw it!

I made a game where you don’t control the robot directly

Screenshot_2.png

There are 10 levels, and a few things trying to stop you along the way

It’s a bit experimental but I’d really appreciate if you check it out and tell me what works / what doesn’t

Thanks!

The joy of the passes

It's always hard when you put your assets in the game engine and you have this :

av1.png

But what a relieve after tweaking (a lot) and spending time (a lot), you achieve good lighting :

av2.png

And then, you add some post-process effect and it keeps improving:

av3.png

And finally, you build it for the web and you have to do it all over again  But in the ends, it's worth it.

Capture d’écran 2026-04-20 à 21.48.12.png

Art style has been a major concern since I started doing solo game jams. I’m looking for the right balance between efficiency and aesthetics, and I hope that with this game jam I’m moving in the right direction. Let me know if this aesthetic could work for a larger-scale game. I experiment and practice a lot, but it’s difficult for me to settle on one medium and fully commit to it.

Almost done!

We're at the finish line! It remains only to polish a little

frame2.gif

In our game, you'll help Web_Kitty to sort and ensure that data packets reach recipients safely and on time. However, network disruptions may occur, causing poor signal strength and making the task more difficult screen1.png

It's still buggy, still needs work but I'm proud of what we achieved

Not gonna lie, we almost didn't make it across the line this time.

It was my first time taking on programming and even though there were a lot of hurdles both health and burnout related, we got there in the end.

Hoping to do a post jam build/fix if we have the energy this week, but first I sleep. Happy LDJam everybody!❤

Unreleased content for Jam

You almost always run into the same problem - you have to cut content and planned features to finish the game on time and give it a proper level of polish.

It's a sad reality, but a real one we have to live with. And this applies not only to gamejams, but to gamedev in general

I'd suggest sharing in the comments what you wanted to make, or what didn’t make it into the final build, so that your efforts don't go to waste.

In my case, I had to feature cut shark enemy because setting up its animation skeleton turned out to be a real pain

I also ended up cutting some upgrades and sonar signals.

I'm done!

Honestly, if I'd pushed a bit harder, I probably could've even made it into Compo. The game turned out even better than I originally planned. And I'd genuinely love to expand its universe, but that probably won't happen.

Screenshot3.png

Highlights: for the first time in a long while, I wrote something new on the music side. There aren't many melodies (only three) and they're short, but they turned out incredibly atmospheric. I also finally figured out how to work in Blender (on an amateur level, but I'm happy with it nonetheless). Overall, it came out as a sort of mini-Myst.

Special thanks to Anthropic and Claude Code. I'm a Unity developer with a bit over eight years of experience, but without its "copilot" there's no way I would've finished in solo what you can now play.

Long story short - the stars aligned and I made something I won't be ashamed to show off.

THE BEACON

Where did the time go?

An abandoned Trello board and a couple long nights later and we managed to make... something! Not exactly what we envisioned, but lots of learning and good times! Can't wait to try everyones games :D

Evolution of ULTRA-RADAR on Compo Ludum Dare

Note: All times I will put here are based on my local time zone. Note 2: Things may be out of order from what I actually worked on.

For the first 30 minutes I really didn't know what to do. It was my first game jam and I thought of several things, like the traffic light signal, the radio signal, and even that password unlocker from Batman Arkham City.

Then I remembered the green radars on the ships and, as a beginner game developer, I thought of something arcade-style that wouldn't take too long to make. The idea was simple: a ship, spaceship, submarine, or whatever, in the middle of those radars, shooting at incoming enemies. Since it was already night in my time zone, I couldn't do much, but I already saw that the game would work. See the image.Captura de tela 2026-04-20 175916.png

In that image, the player could already aim and shoot, and the radar could detect enemies that I hadn't yet programmed. The next morning I woke up excited and programmed the enemies and their spawn points, added a score, and a relatively simple HUD with just the score. I decided it would be a good idea to add another radar since the game was very difficult, but later I decided to remove it.

Captura de tela 2026-04-20 180342.png

In the afternoon I realized that the second radar was making the game too broken, so I decided to stick with the idea of having only one radar. I added a difficulty that increases with the score. I finished the day by polishing the HUD inside the radar (those circles and lines inside it).

On the morning of the second day I didn't have time so I didn't work on the game, and in the afternoon I added another speed power-up to the game, polished it and added game juice, as well as information to the HUD and a maximum score that only saves in the PC version.

Last night I worked on the sounds, the game cover, and the itch.io and Ludum Dare pages. It was quite difficult because art isn't my strong suit.

You can play my game at this link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/59/ultra-radar or https://zezinhoesr.itch.io/ultra-radar

Thanks for reading!

Just a few final touches...

We’re in the home stretch. The last pixel art graphics have been exported. The final sounds have been added... and many, MANY bugs have been fixed.

It's been a great weekend of gamedev, but now it's time to eat and rest. More posts about the experience later.

I Built a Gadget That Thinks Before Acting

up.png Just wrapped up my very first game jam! I went through several concepts before landing on signal latency. The core mechanic revolves around a gadget that triggers devices, but here’s the twist: each one has a different delay. Success depends on mastering these timings to move forward. 🕹️ 2.png I experimented with the visuals quite a bit—from a spy-themed aesthetic to the bright, minimalist style you see now. I think this "pop" look really suits the fun gameplay. 🎮 3.png Being a solo dev with less than two days on the clock, I had to be smart with my time. I skipped complex 3D modeling to focus on the logic. Except for some music I had "in the drawer," everything was made during the jam. This project might be small, but it’s been a massive source of inspiration. I can already see how this mechanic could scale with upgrades and environmental puzzles.

Had a great time, and good luck to all the other participants! 😊

GameOver

GameOver (for this game LudumDare), with a lot of frustration...

Of course, not being able to publish the game because of a memory issue is annoying. It's the "it works on my computer" syndrome, but once it's generated for HTML and after uploading on itch.io... not anymore...

I have to say that Unity is a bit temperamental with WASM and WebGL exports (and it's true that I didn't test it earlier, I was a bit too focused on the code). And maybe I went a bit overboard with the number of voxels...

Anyway, too late to publish for the Jam, but I'll find a solution (I hope).

Onward to more adventures!

Pinky Guard: A Love Letter to a Universe We Care About

This project means a bit more to us than just a jam entry. photoem2026-04-20/em01-20-57.jpg

Pinky Guard is based on a cartoon series by Luke Humphris — something a few people on our team have genuinely loved for a long time.

A few months ago, we decided to take it seriously and try to reach out to Luke. It took a while (and quite a few attempts), but we eventually got in touch — and received his permission to create a game in this universe for the jam.

He knows about the project, and that matters a lot to us.

We treat the original with a lot of respect. Even though the source material is quite compact, we're trying to explore its potential — carefully expanding the world while keeping its tone and spirit.

Right now, this is a prototype — a short experience we're building during the jam. But we also see it as a way to introduce more people to this universe.

And, honestly, we really hope Luke will like what we make.

But what about the jam itself?

This is where things get… complicated.

Maybe we were just one day short. Or maybe… one programmer.

Having a bigger team sounded like an advantage — but in reality, it slowed us down more than we expected. And now we're at that familiar point where a lot is done… but not the most important part.

The core gameplay isn't fully there yet — which, as you can imagine, is critical.

What we have done:

Content-wise, we've made strong progress:

  • Map is assembled
  • Audio is in place
  • Characters are ready PinkyGuard_icon.png

Some systems are already working: * Character movement * Role assignment * Tech tree * Task system Screenshot_10ввв.png

What's still missing or incomplete:

  • Animations (some actions still have none)
  • Progression and win/lose states
  • The celestial activity system (not even started yet)
  • Parts of the UI
  • Lighting and color filtering (our current shader breaks the palette we carefully chose)
  • No random event system yet Yes, it is a lot...

Right now, we're pushing to finish character spawning and at least bring everything into a playable state.

Testing… didn't really happen. Balancing — even less so.

So the big question is:

What do you do if you don't make it in time?

Submit something unfinished? Or admit that you didn't make the deadline?

We're still trying to push through. There are a few hours left, and we're not giving up yet. photoem2026-04-21/em01-19-12.jpg

But at the same time, we care about what we're making. And releasing something that doesn't reflect that — doesn't feel right.

So we'll finish it either way.

With or without the deadline.

Because this isn't just about the jam anymore — it's about doing justice to something we love.

I Built a Gadget That Thinks Before Acting ️

up.png Just wrapped up my very first game jam! I went through several concepts before landing on signal latency. The core mechanic revolves around a gadget that triggers devices, but here’s the twist: each one has a different delay. Success depends on mastering these timings to move forward. 2.png I experimented with the visuals quite a bit—from a spy-themed aesthetic to the bright, minimalist style you see now. I think this "pop" look really suits the fun gameplay. 3.png Being a solo dev with less than two days on the clock, I had to be smart with my time.

😊 Gameplay:

USED

Humanity has polluted the Earth’s surface with toxic waste and retreated underground for years. You are an outcast. Sent to the surface to collect anomalous trash, you wander among mountains of scrap metal, convinced you are completely alone. But something tells you — that feeling is deceptive...

Gameplay

Scavenge anomalous trash across the scrapyard. To do this, you’ll need to use a signal detection device designed to locate anomalous trash. Trade the trash for money, upgrade your radar, and unlock new areas.

Controls

  • LMB - Interact
  • WASD - Move
  • Shift - Run

We are going Extra

In order to build something we like, we won't be able to make it for the Jam category, but we will try to finish up this week.

To anyone doing the Jam, make the last 2 hours count, and don't forget to submit in time. Good luck!

PULSE-8 - Can you decode this signal of the stars?

signalv16_1.gif

:alien: :alien: :alien: An ancient alien relic has been found. Its message is fragmented. Align the conduits, charge the crystals, and transmit the pulse through 24 sectors of pure logic.

  • 24 levels of minimalist puzzles.
  • Limited signal fragments.
  • Can you reach the "Perfect Rank" on each level ?

Cozy but dark atmospheric side-scroller!

Our cozy/creepy game is finally done! In Glitched Signal you play as a kid going through the woods trying to vanish the monsters dialing to the right frequency. It's our first game jam so we hope you enjoy it! :) Feedback is appreciated.

42 hours later: I made a game :D

This is my game Ping

Fling a blind bat through hidden caves, using sonar pings to reveal the world around you. It's basically billiards but weird.

Instructions: Arrow keys to aim. Hold Z to charge, hold more to charge more, release to launch. Press Z mid-flight to echolocate. Find all objects. Reach the exit. Avoid traps.

I used Photoshop, Construct 3, Audacity, my own tool AnimeVox and FL Studio, with the OrgMaker soundfont (Cave Story rulez!)

Tell me if you beat it!

Let’s Paint This Boring Building!!

Yo!! I’ve finished my jam game, SIGN ALL — a colorful, short, chaotic arcade game about graffiti and street vibes. It totally fits the jam theme, I swear. At least, I hope so. Come check it out!
