Ludum Dare 56 October 4–7, 2024

The Chocolat-endive team is in!

Hi everybody!

I'm happy to announce that the Chocolat-Endive team is back. Were suuuuuuper excited, this jam is always a great experience: making a game (even if we sometimes don't manage to publish anything, but that's part of the fun), sharing it, seeing other people working on different games, trying all your games, sharing tips and receiving feed back, etc. We love this event, and it is good to be back.

So here is our team:

  • The almighty Bouteille is specialised into code and can help with graphics (if we make a 3D game, she's the specialist).
  • Zhao (me), ready to make some music, graphical assets, make coffee, and help with game design.

We have plenty of food, coffee (including some nice home made cold brew), and we're super motivated.

Our stations are ready, and we can't wait to start working on our game. And because it's always fun to share some bad and dark photos, let's do it. Here is my workplace:

And Bouteille’s:

So, what tools are we going to use?

  • Godot engine (this thing is wonderful)
  • Krita and Gimp for 2d
  • Blender and maybe Magicavoxel for 3d (if we make some 3d stuff, it's been a long time!)
  • Brains if we find some
  • synths and stuff (a gameboy? maybe a flute? some field recording? i don't know, we'll see) for music

We'll probably use some other tools, but that's a start.

Bonus photo, my music setup:

I really hope you'll all enjoy this event, because Ludum Dare is a pretty special thing. And I can't wait to see and play all (well, not really all, obviously) your games.

Have a nice jam everybody!

I'm in, with jitters but willing

Hoping for this to turn out a LOT better than my first time here, I've at least looked at a proper Unity tutorial before today so I'm not going into this completely blind like last time.

For those seeing this, hi! My art skills are definitely more stronger than my coding skills at the moment (even if this is the first year where I'm finally taking art a little more seriously), so if you want someone for 2D digital art (I have Aseprite also available, I've been wanting to take up pixel art more as well), contact me whenever!

Looking forward to this one

I don't have a looot of time this weekend, but I am excited to try nonetheless. Let's get back into it, right?

Please be a good theme

If it's "You're not supposed to be there" I'll be toast lol

I'm in !

Not sure how my schedule gonna work for this one but i'll try to submit something.

Godot 4

Blender

Aseprite

I have two experiment i'd want to try (one or both) : - First Person Shooter with weird weapon/projectile - Make emergent gameplay using boids

Let's see what comes out ! Have fun everybody !

I'm in!

My last LD was 51, I'm overdue! Rolling with Unity, Inkscape for 2D, Blender for 3d, and good ol' Audacity.

Can't wait!

Another Ludum Dare and the hype is real. Can't wait to start making another fun game with friends. Each time the team is getting bigger which makes it even more fascinating! Have fun everyone!

Hello Team!

I don't know how to search for other users so I'm making this post so my team can follow me! Sorry for the spam :P

Ludum dare 56 - Rules

Please, does anyone know where I can find the rules for this edition?

J2 is in for LD56!

We're super excited to be participating in Ludum Dare 56! Here's the software we'll be using:

Unity GIMP Blender Mixcraft Audacity

We're also welcoming our newest team mate, Ry! He's my 2 year old son, and will be helping out with asset generation and snack management, both integral roles in game dev. We're looking forward to seeing what he's got.

Excited to see what everyone comes up with! Have fun, and game on!

My girlfriend broke up with me yesterday...

But at least I have Ludum Dare!!!!! She is hiking right now with some dude and then is working the weekend. I have something to keep my mind occupied at least. It's time to channel my feelings into something epic.

I will be streaming the entire jam on my youtube channel (@subzeroinshorts) if anyone wants to peek at a depressed dude making a Godot game. Won't talk much because I want to focus on the jam.

I'm in

Yes, I definitely in. Tools: GODOT4, Linux, Blender.

I'm in!

This will be my 37th LD. My toolset:

I'll probably be using my Godot C# Library and possibly my Starfield Maker. Good luck everyone!

*Godot 4 is out, but it doesn't support web export yet if you're using C#. Godot 4 is better, but the difference isn't massive. Since Godot 3 is still supported I still usually use it for game jams.

I'm in!

Ludum Dare once again. Coming close to maybe 10 times now. I've lost count lol I'm hoping to make another 3D game this time. Hopefully something more action packed.

I'll be using:

Unity Photoshop Blender Audacity Visual Studio etc etc

goodluck everyone!
