Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

Ever wanted to skewer loads of dumplings?

I've finished registering for the LDJam 54 Compo! This is my second time participating. This game represents my first attempt at creating a game with Godot 4.

Try to skewer plenty of floating dumplings(Dango) through gaps and sell them at high prices!

and... submitted

After a day of trying to get the last of my game done I couldn't get the last mechanic I hoped for done. So I scrapped it/hid it away (I'll get back to it later) and focused on the aspect I wanted to work on this time around. The way it feels. Hopefully I got along the right lines... even with some dev art still in there and limited animations. Well I can't go any longer on this, work tomorrow and I need some sleep. Now I get the other fun part of trying out a range of creative games by all of you. Happy jamming!

Going Up, anyone?

We did IT!

Team NoseyBeaks (@lenny-rudeberg, @tegantiu and @human-writes-code) have finished our game for LD54.

We're super happy with this one!

Now to sleep... perchance to dream... about elevators.

Kislovodsk craft - what is it all about?

Hello everyone! Our game is in active development process, so now it's time to present our current results

In our game you'll play as a tourist who fell in a pit in a forest, not so far from Kislovodsk. Can you actually get out of it? Are you brave enough to explore the darkness searching "keys" for exit?

Here are some of our assets that we made - we are currently working on level design and completing core mechanics You can find our game here: https://ldj.am/$374379

Stay tuned for more updates!

Still few hours and a hungry cat

Second time LD jamming with my partner, this time trying out the Unreal Engine... let's hope for the best! We're featuring a chubby cat which is afraid of just everything... but quite greedy too. Screenshot 2023-10-02 13.06.48.png

Happy jamming you all!

Failed this time :(

We didn't managed to get our entry in time for the jam. We'll publish it under the Extra category and giving us extra time to polish and ultimate our game to be a nice remake in Unreal Engine 5 of our LD46 game :(

Couldn't have finished this jam without my assistant!

This is the first time I've really sat down and planned out a game, which is a big step, even if the notes are extremely messy and hard to understand!

Happy post compo day!!

Ghastly tower showoff.gif

Phew this one was intense! I realized the compo had started 24 hours late, so I only had the last 24 hours to make this. Never again, holy moly. Missed a couple of features i really wanted to include, but oh well.

I'd love to play your games, so leave them all in the comments!

Bug fixed and walkthrough made!

Here it is! IT works! It was a delta time issue causing the physics and controls to all break. Fixed with a simple change and it is back!

Finished jam entry, and had a blast doing so!

Now I need to return to assessment work, this was a very enjoyable repast!

First time doing pixel art, I thought it would turn out horrible, but I'm actually happy with the results :D!

Give it a go, if you are... game :).

Finished it!

Managed to get something done. I wanted to add a bit more to the actual gameplay, but I think it's a fun enough "arcade" experience, and can certainly be a laugh. My biggest regret is not getting the sprite to move smoothly with the turns...I had it working pretty well, except when moving in a circle at the end the fish would spin 360 degrees in the wrong direction...I'll likely work on getting that working some other time.

Complete!

LD54_cover.png

My first Ludum Dare in a while (I last competed in LD23!) using an entirely new game engine (Godot) that I'd not even looked at tutorials for! Ambitious? Maybe. But I finished!

Nearly done!

Right now i’m working on a tutorial/how to play and fixing some small things. @Cobaltjt programming the last few things. Only the music is missing but since it’s only the two of us i think it stays that way :/ ‘ But i'm super proud of what we got, from a theme that wasn’t really ours to a charming lil puzzle game where you have to pack as many boxes as you can before it gets too much! imageem2023-10-02/em14-46-04.png
