Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

I am human

Just thought that may be useful

Im in!

This is my 2nd ludum dare and my 8th game jam (all of the game jams i participated took place this year)

I'm in!

After quite a few jams this is the first one I'm going to try to do completely by myself!

7th Consecutive

Back in again for my 7th consecutive. Six months is too long to wait. Good luck to everyone!

How many rounds?

How many rounds of voting are there typically? Is it 1,2 and final? Or is there a third in there?

Joining Ludum Dare 54

Looking forward to participating in Ludum Dare for the 8th time! Our small team plans to use Godot, git, and various art tools.

Planning a challenging journey with LD54

I will use Unreal engine(using hybrid development with Blueprint scripting and C++), Paint.Net, and OpenMPT to participate in my first Ludum Dare experience. And yes, 'I' use the engine.

Since Unity shows some disappointing aspects these days, My 4-years discipline of learning game developement with Unreal instead of Unity and collecting free assets from Marketplace have not been wasted. The only problem is that it is difficult to chase the newest feature of Unreal alone because it is such a huge engine and its developing process is quite speedy.

During LD54 I will work alone with Unreal, but next time(Maybe LD55) I will call my friend who is familiar with UE5. I participated other game jam before, made a game without using game engine, failed to submit game just in time. I learned a good experience that I must make simple in-game system using game engine when the time is extremely limited and I have to work alone. But now I have noticed that I may need some collegues that can speak Korean and familiar with UE5.

Too much jobs are waiting this weekend for me...

Update: I might opt out graphics rating because I may use free assets not created by me depending on the theme.

I'm in!

This will be my 35th LD. My toolset:

I'll probably be using my Godot C# Library and possibly my Starfield Maker. Good luck everyone!

*Godot 4 is out, but it doesn't support web export yet if you're using C#. Godot 4 is better, but the difference isn't massive. Since Godot 3 is still supported I still usually use it for game jams.

Looking for a team/teammates

i am mostly a c# programmer but i can do other things as well

Practicing using the PICO-8 for the jam!

I'm gonna force myself out of my comfort zone and learn something new! This time I will be using the PICO-8 to make my game. I've already started warming up the basics of it by making a clone of my old game ROCKETS FUCKING EVERYWHERE. It's actually really nice to have no objects or nodes to manage, it's just you and the c o d e and nobody can stop you.

Sound Designer / Composer looking for team

Hi there! I'm a Sound Designer and Composer. I'm looking for a team for the jam. You can hear my work at stephencshapiro.com. Hit me up here or on social media @stephencshapiro.

Looking for a secondary Programmer

Jam veteran here. Most of my friends are talented artists and musicians, and I only know one other coder who already has a team. I have 5 years of experience in Unity, but I've also been learning Godot since the Unity debacle. I am fine to do either. Myself and a friend are playing around with the ideas of "cooking" and "card game" based on the current theme suggestions, if that interests you!

-WE- are in :)

Second Ludum Dare for Team Lead Balimaar

Hey gang, I'm Balimaar and this will be my second Ludum Dare. I was delightfully surprised how well my entry in the previous LD performed, especially considering the fact I had to submit 12 hours early thanks to a suddenly arisen schedule change IRL that I could not escape from.

This time I will be taking part in The Jam as part of a 2 person team! I will be focusing on the coding and game design. The team will be using the Unity Engine.

Yes, I know, but the whole Unity debacle kicked off too soon before a LD for me to learn a new engine. This will be the last time I use Unity and I'll probably be moving on to Godot... maybe Unreal.

I for one happily anticipate having an extra day to get things done! And now I'd like to introduce you to my team mate who has been involved in a few really nice projects. :)

Say hi to debutant Bizzybee!

Hi! I'm Biz, audio wizard and Berklee grad. I'm the composer for the indie visual novel game Camp Palut, and the primary sound editor for the audio drama Bird Woman.

I'm also a vocalist, gamer, storyteller, and general creative. I'll be working on sound and art for this game.

This will be my first Ludum Dare, I am looking forward to it!

*mainframe hacker voice* We're in.

Five of us go in. How many will perish along the way?

Rust is our language of choice. Bevy the game framework. One of us is a master rustacean, the rest are whatever baby crabs are called (but also starting with "rust").

For art, our artist chooses Clip Studio Paint.

For tunes, our musician chooses an old copy of Ableton Live.

Exits are SOUTH, WEST.
There is a shovel here.

About notification, DO THIS! Please

~~I ended up stopping here by accident and~~ that's a good thing, because I had no idea that Ludum Dare was so close and I've missed it other times because I forgot and only found out when it was over or when I no longer had time to participate.

Idk about you, but all I wanted was to be notified a little before each Ludum Dare, and to be remembered on the day too, I don't care if this was through an app, email, a group on discord or even If it was through a story on any social network, just do that please!

~~Disregard if something like this already exists~~ and please tell me how/where I activate this, I need it

I'm in

Second Solo Game Jam, First LD Game Jam

So, naturally, I'm in.

I'll make a visual novel as usual, and I'll use Ren'Py as usual.

Whatever the theme will be, I will create an engaging story, and it will at least have some connection with my LD52 entry, Bittersweet Harvest. Speaking of which, the full game is out now for months. Go check it out at https://dagitabsoft.itch.io/bittersweet-harvest.

And yes, the opening day of LD54 will coincide with the Philippine leg of the Gunpla Builders World Cup, so I'm guaranteed to take pictures of the venue it will be held on and will use them in the game. Before anyone asks, scale modeling is one of my hobbies.

Not sure if I'm joining yet

If I do join in, this will be my 13th year, though in that time period I've only actually finished and submitted 10 times (tend to only have time to do one a year, and skipped a few years during job transition). My friend who normally works with me and does all the artwork on them these past few years unfortunately won't have time, and I have a business trip right after so I may have to cut short even if I do participate, so highly likely whatever I do will be vector/algorithmic art if I do join. I really am feeling the urge to make something quick though, and LD is always a good outlet for that.

Toolkit of choice: * Language: C/C++ * IDE: CLion * Compiler: G++ w/ MinGW cross compiler for the windows build * Graphics: software/SDL * Other Tools: GIMP, Rosegarden
