LD 55 will be my 20th ludum dare and I'm as excited as always for it!
My first one was back in LD 32 and failed miserably to make the game... then I joined again on LD 35 and managed to finish my project, it was awesome!
After that I did a small break and came back on LD 38, with this new website (the old one was ludumdare dot com) and I've been joining every single event since. Meaning that this one will also be my 18th consecutive jam.
I'll be using, once again, my own 3D game engine for the event and I'll try to make all the art by myself too. There is a small chance of me to do a 2D game using Python + PyGame instead, depending on the theme... so we'll see!
Oh, and also, since I've been doing this for a while...
just in case it's your first time joining it:
1 - Do NO justify the THEME with STORY. This is a terrible idea and never work. Small Jam games usually works better with little to no story as possible, so you should try to come up with A GAME MECHANIC that justifies the theme instead.
2 - If you can't finish the MAIN MECHANIC in an HOUR, move on. That's for real: it's okay to try two or three different ideas for the jam (I usually try up to 5!), but it's important to be able to finish the main mechanic as fast as possible. Don't count on the entire jam period to do that, because this is a better idea (next and final tip):
3 - Focus on Polishing a SMALL IDEA instead of developing a BIG ONE! Putting something FUN together in an hour or so and spending the rest of the Jam polishing it is WAY BETTER than spending the entire jam trying to make some uncertain idea to work.
Let's make some awesome games!
Want to become a photographer? Fascinated with dangerous species of flora and fauna? YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT ANY LONGER! Introducing “PIC Your Poison::a risky game about photography” Find a golden poison frog! Snap a picture of Cerbera odollam! But don’t forget your antidote or else…
Lets go for it!!! the 4th time participating on this competition, now wiser and older!!
False alarm. Turns out it was my parrot, not my hamster, who locked me out. Hamstro managed to sneak me back in when Mr.Gobbles had his beak turned trying to work the rotary to call up his parakeet friends. He'll be sleeping in the pantry tonight.

Heyo, been doing game dev for a while and only ever did one game jam before this one tho, but had a blast that time! I use UE for the most part so we'll se if I get done in time lol! Lets do this thing!
My buddies kinda left me a few hours ago, so looks like it'll be a solo for me. Excited to participate in my first gamejam, but not so sure: should I participate in the compo or the jam variant.
Good luck to all!

Warming up for the Jam art by making some assets for a game I have in progress
We did this a couple jams ago and might as well give it another shot.
Hello jammers,
Me and my bud are still looking for a composer for this jam, given that we are both awful at it and our usual options are busy.
You can check out our previous entries to see if you think we could be an okay fit / have the potential to work with each other, and if you are interested, hit me up on here or on discord at Peringo#6049! I usually have a certain style of music in mind depending on the idea, so depending on if you like that bit of direction or not we could work something out.
Thanks for the read, I hope everyone has a great jam!
Well, It might be just a regular post for most people. But for us (a small group of friends) its the first game Jam ever! Even if we (for personal reasons) just have 1/2 of the time and the theme is published at 2am, we want to make something great~~lets see how great it really will be (probably not so, its our first time)
Engine: Gdevelop
Graphics: Pix 2D, Piskel, Capcut
Sound: Jsfxr, Beepbox
This is my very first game jam, and, on top of that, I will probably have at most 10 hours to work on anything because of other stuff. So we'll see how it goes!
Not playing as the main character is actually impossible.
If you are controlling the character indirectly (controlling the environment), you are actually still playing as that character. Gravity can't be a main character.
If you're using another character to control the supposedly main character, the controlling character becomes the main character.
If you name your game by the princess that needs to be rescued, she is not the main character. Zelda is not the main character, Link is.
I was waiting for this event for a really long time. I wanted to participate with my friends, but they have life outside of gamedev, unlike me. So I’ll participate with other friend of mine. So, good luck out there buddies, you’re gonna need it.
Again sorry if there was mistakes, my English isn’t that good.
This is the first time that I participate to Ludum dare.
Hey all!
Newbies here, just students trying to have a good time. Our objective is to publish a game by the end of the weekend.
Have fun everyone!
