Monster Wants Donuts!

Wish I had a little more done... got a few more hours left today. Using Godot for the first time in a Jam and it is going well. Kinda "winging it" in the gameplay though... ideas welcome.

Progress after the first day - 2D game using Godot

I'm going for a game where you need to collect items to summon the final boss of a level. Once you defeat the final boss, you can advance to the next level. I've created my own sprites and sound effects. Thus far, this is the progress:

The major thing I want to focus on tomorrow is level advancement (I need to figure out how I want to handle making the game more difficult as you progress, and implement the logic to load a new level). From there will just be polish. More enemies, different weapons, different kinds of items to summon different kinds of final bosses, etc. We'll see how far I get! I'm focusing on the basics first so that I can have something playable to submit.

Sum Monsters - Day 1 Successful!

First day of progress on our mathimagical game where you arrange monsters to complete the dungeon's sum-mons.

First day's progress

Here's one of the environments I got done today, one of the prettiest I've made in my amateur career! My brain is turning to a mush of Blender hotkeys at this point so it's time to take a break. Give some love to your cats, dogs, and other pets for me :)

Nearing the End: Across the Bounds

We have been working on our game Across the Bounds all day. We've got the devil, angels, bones, and vampire squids! It's looking pretty cool so come check us out when we submit!

Progress, but slow

Some progress in what appears to be the same game almost everyone is making =P Sok because i am getting a bit more familiar with Rust, which was the goal! Bevy continues to be pretty slick, although I am missing Godot's sheer productivity..

You of course are an innocent necromancer looking to you know, raise a dead neighbor to do some light duty labor as an eternal slave, nbd.. but then all these little nasty goblins (green cubes) decide to raid the party. Some quick maneuvering, clubbing strikes with your staff, occasional (tbi) fire dart spell, and of course the quick summoning of a demon (red ball) here and there will help you fend off those buggers!

End of Day 1/3: Mechanics are DONE!

I'll be making a relaxing world building game for the jam and I've to say that I'm already a bit addicted to it!

Where should I go from this? Tomorrow will be the art day!

First day prototypes

Hello! This is my first Ludum Dare, and my first solo game jam, and my first game jam in many years.

I spent the first day creating some prototypes. Here they are, in reverse chronological order:

  1. Demon summoning language coach, where you type out ominous Latin words before they fill the screen in Tetris fashion:

  2. Space driving game, where you gather points (similar to those fake mobile game ads). I was thinking about adding a space ship model, and a way to summon more space ships in order to gather even more points, and to survive crashes.

  3. Another "number go up" game, where you gather math operations falling from a summoning circle, in order to make your score number so big that it fills the screen.

  4. Burger parts fall from a summoning circle, and you make towering burgers with them, and try to balance them.

  5. You summon blocks to pave a way to the exit.

Which one is your favorite?
