LD25 December 14–17, 2012

Time

Unfortunately I will not be able to complete my game in time for the compo, so I will have to submit it for the jam.

Maybe I shouldn’t have watched so much YouTube :/

Well, here is how it looks like so far. The framework is done, but there are no levels yet besides a test level.

LD25_Update2

すみません!

おはようございます!

Sorry for not updating our progress yesterday, I was too tired D:

But anyway, we’re planning to finish the game by today (hopefully) and by tomorrow morning, 4 hours before LD Jam ends, I’ll have to upload the game already.

Progress?

– All important enemy AI is done.

– Stats and HUD drawn on screen.

– Inventory System fully completed with picking up items.

– Upgrade Screen.

– Updated Title Screen and Main Menu.

– More on animations.

– Easy to get around the rooms by either using mouse or keyboard only.

Yup, that’s all I have, but luckily we have done the AI and their animation so today we can start level designing 😉

Again, sorry for not updating…すみません!

End line!

The last hours of working almost killed me. Even if there’s another hour for the compo, for me it’s 2AM and I’m really tired.

See you tomorrow for the dayafter post mostem, I don’t really have the energy to write it now.

Woorray!

Time to place a few sound effects and then test the game.

Worray!

Trainsaw finally done !

Just like every one else : DONE, FINALLY !

After those 48 exhausting hours, I’m quite happy of what I did, it’s not the best game ever, it’s actually kind of shitty, but it’s my first game, and game jam, so yeah, I’m happy

I thought : who is the most annoying, the meanest and ugliest person in the world ? A train controller of course, my villain is a train controller, and a mean one, he doesn’t like people not to pay, not at all…

Game here !

Aaaaaaand…..submitted!

I really was hoping to give the game more content, but overall I guess I can’t be too unhappy.  It’s a quick little proof of concept which is hopefully quirky enough to entertain people for a bit, and that’s really what I set out to do for this competition (seeing as my last entry was basically unplayable).  And, of course, I always have the option to add more content later on if I feel this is an idea worth fleshing out.

Screen2

Looking around, I see a lot of interesting looking games.  I can’t wait to see what other people have come up with!

Tourist Trap is complete.

ld25screen4

Finished!  With a little under an hour to spare.  I got most of what I wanted to get done.  Sound effects, some more sprites (including a goat!) and even some music. I would have like to be able to add a little more visual polish, perhaps some more tiling around the edges of the platforms and some more levels but I don’t think I’d ever have had time for that.  Because there are so few levels the learning curve seems a little steep (the last level is a toughie), it’s difficult to judge these things when you’ve been play-testing them over and over again though.

ld25screen5

The music is pretty simple and appropriately dirgey for a game with a ghost protagonist. It was my first time making music for a video game as well as using FamiTracker. Despite it’s simplicity and irritating repetitiveness (you can toggle the music with ‘M’) I’m pretty happy with it.

I would have also liked to have more varied mechanics in the game, different types of tourists with differing behaviours. Perhaps some switches that open doors. Again this would have been quite ambitious for the time limit.

PS: Now with added goat :) (Check out the hunting trophy)

Haven’t had much time but trying to finish in time

We are doing the jam, me and a graphic artist. Since the theme is You are the villain we are doing a reverse Tower Defense. You are attacking the tower so to speak

I literally coded all of the pathfinding, Ai, framework, ect.. in about 3 hours.

Submitted!

So, in the last four hours of the competition, I pretty much did a 180 and tore everything down before rebuilding it- the only thing I kept was the procedural generation, which retooled itself nicely. Now I have this, and I think it’s pretty okay while also being the first LD game I’ve ever completed (despite numerous attempts previous)!

HOLY CRAP I MADE A GAME!

OMG OMG OMG OMG A GAMEEEEEEEEEEE!  I MADE A GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!

ALL BY MYSEEEEEEELF!  HEY GUYZ CHECK IT OUT!

CLICKZORS ON THE IMAGE TO PLAY IT!

So yeah, didn’t have time this weekend to whip up a serious LD entry, so I decided to spend a few hours and whip up something.  And so this is the result.

I did draw the goat image for the full game, that I recycled for the title screen.  G.O.A.T. stands for “Goal of Absolute Terror”, in case you wonder.  Or maybe that’s “Goat of Absolute Terror.”

First Entry

Well, so that was my first entry ever at Ludum Dare.

This weekend has become short! I could not work on the game on saturday, but I’m happy with the result .

Meteors: Look at them go

I had participed at the last Ludum Dare Jam with the friends of Indiesquish with a great sensation. http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-24/?action=preview&uid=10871

I have participated on other events such as Global Game Jam, that I hope to join again next year, but Ludum Dare will be a must from now on.

Great fun!

I am finished.

My game is completely, utterly, unarguably, finished. I think that it might be the best game I have ever made too!

I know that I said that I would upload a demo earlier. I diddnt. I overslept last night, so I only had time to finish it.

anywho, its a platform shooter, unlike anything you’ve ever seen before (no really, the game is really….. odd)

enjoy it here

Tetrominoes Butcher

I’ve had some “real world” problems this time (blackouts and storms, 10 hours have been lost this Sunday). Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to post the whole game in the Jam.

Done!

I spent most of my time procrastinating, but I got it done anyway!

Here it is!

Is it any good? I have no idea. Why don’t you play it and find out?

LD25 Completed!

So amazingly enough, I managed to actually get a playable game submitted. I’m fairly impressed with myself for this being my first LD.

Review and comments coming soon, but for now my bed is looking particularly attractive.
