LD26 April 26–29, 2013

Lets do this!

Howdy! Taro Omiya here. I’m a first-timer at Ludum Dare, but also a seasoned game jammer. I’m pumped! Lets do this!

Tools:

 • Game Engine -> Unity, v3.5.7 Pro
 • Language -> C#
 • Base Library -> whatever scripts Unity comes with on installation, no plugins
 • 3D Art -> Blender
 • 2D Art -> Photoshop + MyPaint
 • Music -> iPhone’s Garage Band or Linux MultiMedia Studio…I think. Music hasn’t been my strong suit.
 • Sound -> Bfxr, Audacity, iPhone microphone recordings
 • Version Control -> Fossil + Fuel

Whats Up With The LD25 Hate?

I’ve read a couple of “I’m In” posts, and some keep saying: “I hope the theme is better than LD25”. To be completely honest, I would have loved to participate in LD25 as the theme seemed really cool. Could someone explain whats up with the hate, is it a lack of ideas, or just not feeling the theme?

It’s a thing with Ludum Dare. People hate the theme. 😉

It was either TINS or Speedhack 2003ish, the theme was “You are the villian”.

Word for word, same theme.

I did not get to participate due to hectic work schedule, but on the theme hate … well they have been kind of uninspired

I hated the theme as well, but after seeing what people did with it, I thought it was a good theme (and feeling ashamed I didnt’t try harder to come up with something more insprired).

LD24: Evolution. Good theme. Plenty of ideas if you think hard enough. Focused creativity goes far.

I’m in too

Hi guys, I’m in for my second Ludum Dare. This time I’ll have a Graphics team to help me out, and I’ll be in the jam like last time. For anyone who suffered having to get Python and PyGame for my game that I made for the LD23, fear not, as I now have the ability to compile my programs for Windows users.

Can’t wait to play all the games that you guys make, see you at LD26!

BEHOLD!

This most recent mini ld has gotten me fired up for the next COMPO. So I’m pleased to announce to a whole host of amazing people that I will be attempting this latest game jam.

I’m in

Fourth time through Ludum Dare. Have been fairly LÖVE centric due to #1GAM, so hopefully I won’t need to spend too much time figuring out my tools now. I think no matter what the theme, I’m going to make a straight up platformer. My past three game ideas were too big for the compo, so forcibly simplifying my scope before it starts will help me build out my engine code more easily.

My ridiculously average I’m in post.

I’m joining this next Ludum Dare because why not I enjoy creating crappy games that nobody will remember 7 years from now, and also because I’m getting close to done with getting my lÖve2D library running somewhat properly.

My tools of choice:
programming: Geany, unless I can find something better.
Art: Either Pinta or GIMP, maybe a mixture of both.
Language: Lua, I enjoy duck typing and tables.
Library: LÖve2D, because why not.
Music: I have no idea. Maybe I’ll try to get used to using some sort of tracking software.
Sounds: BFXR.

Bad luck to everyone else because I want to win.
Except not really I couldn’t give less of a crap about winning, I’m just in it because it’s fun.

Just another i’m in post

I’m (hopefully) going to take part in the next Ludum Dare, and it will be my second time participating.

Tools i’m gonna use:

code: C#/XNA

graphics: Paint.NET

sound: Sunvox

Yeah “I’m in”

Hi there

I’m fairly new to the whole game jam thing ( and web posting ) so i though that i better give it a try

Tools:

Updates:

i will post updates > here <

See you all in the event 😀

Welcome, nice to see you here :)

If I could give you an advise:

I am also new here and wanted to make something in pure java without libs, but someone told me to use Slick, GDX and / or LWJGL because it’s not easy to make a whole game in this time.

Welcome to LD!

I’m in for LD 26, also my account of my very first 48 hour game jam mini LD#41

I’m definitely in for Ludum Dare 26. Mini LD#41 was my first ever 48 hour game jam and I loved it!

If you’re interested in reading my account of my experience you can find it here: http://precisioncode.wordpress.com/2013/04/06/my-first-48-hour-game-jam/

If you’re interested in checking out my miniLD entry it’s here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/minild-41/?action=preview&uid=19985

If you’re interested in giving me a mental high five please picture me in your head using the body of a crab and the head of a cyborg data-swapper and then picture yourself giving me a high five.

Thanks to everyone for being so inviting to new developers. I’m really excited to become a part of this community. I had a wonderful time at miniLD #41, got some great and supportive feedback, and am hoping to participate in many game jams in the months and years to come.

I’m in!

This will be my second ludumdare and hopefully my first finished one! I didn’t really get into the last one as I knew very little Java and tried to use Actionscript, which I hadn’t touched in years 😛 But now I’ve got Java under my belt and am in the process of learning C++ so I’ll use that if I feel confident enough with it by the time the competition rolls around.

Language: C++ or Java

Libraries: None

IDE: Eclipse

Graphics: Paint.Net or Photoshop

Sound: Bfxr

#LD26, I’m in!

Hi Everyone,

I’m definitely in for LD26! This is my second ludumdare and hopefully my first finished one.

Language: HTML5 / JAVASCRIPT (In canvas)

IDE: Sublime Text 2

Graphics: GIMP and/or InkScape

Music: Not sure, but i think FL Studio with my keyboard

Sounds: Also FL studio and maybe my mic :)

Version Control: GIT (https://github.com/kevinvdburgt/LD26)

Recording Software: Youtube live ?

Food and Drinks: Pizza, Bread, Icecream, Candy, Toasts, Beer, Coffee and Tea :)

“We’re in” the Jammin’ mood!

Can’t wait to get started and see all of the amazing content that comes out of the Jam and the Competition!

This is our first LD so please, do say if we’re supposed to state what IDEs/Languages/etc we’re using for the Jam, because I see everyone is posting all of the things they’re going to use but it seems like the people who are doing that are all in the compo, do we need to do that for the Jam?

Thanks,

Welcome to Ludum Dare!

In

Language – C#

IDE – Unity/VS 2012

Art – Hexels/Pyxel Edit/Photoshop

Music – TBD

Also using 2D toolkit/itween

I’m in (plus plug)

So, I’m also planning to enter the next Ludum.

Tools/gear:

In the last mini Ludum I made some improvised music with my guitar/ZoomGx3, so I think I will do that again. Maybe use AmbiLoop.
For graphics probably Flash Cs6, and for coding FlashDevelop.

Not sure if I will do the 48 hr or 72 hr.

On another note: I updated my miniLudum41 entry (‘oh, that’s SO last week!’).
I just had an intro in my head that I wanted to add. It turned out to be quite hard to do; I’m not that good at drawing and drawing someone standing in front of an mirror is pretty hard for me.

But I’m happy about the result so I wanted to share it.

Framework Suggestions?

I wonder if you could help me picking a framework/engine to use for Ludum Dare.

I previously used Scratch and Stencyl (drag&drop coding) for 2D games and now am looking for a slightly more advanced, but still quick framework. I have experience in a language similar to C++, too (Cubescript and derivates).

It should fit as many of this points as possible:
– easy to learn for someone who has medium coding experience
– flexible
– good performance
– good for creating quick prototypes
– cross platform (at least Linux and Windows)

If you have any framework in mind fitting this points, than post it in the comments below.
Thank you in advance :)

I’m not really a C++ programmer, but I’ve seen some good results from SFML:

I would recommend giving Haxe with NME and an engine like HaxePunk a shot. Using them myself, it’s a blast. Using FlashDevelop gives you quite decent code completion also.

as I said in another post, learning a new system 3 weeks before this thing kicks off is generally a bad idea.
08. Apr 2013 · 17:14 UTC
It may be not the best idea. I want to get away from Flash, since they dropped Linux support..

Hmm.. I could go with the current stable version of Scratch, which is very easy to use, but feature-lacking and not extensionfriendly(no object-cloning!) but can create Java and Flash executables. The Beta is ways better, but only supports Flash..

Gonna search for a simple engine on my own.

I’m finally in!

After two days of intensive playing Minecraft, I can say that I’m in mood to post that I am in!

I downloaded the new Unity version recently and found out that the uv mapping is different that before, so, if I won’t understand what is what, no Unity this time as well. *sigh* I’ve been wanting to use Unity for so long…

So, I’ll use:

 • Programming: PhYard Builder
 • Graphics: GIMP, MSPaint, possibly Inkscape
 • Music: Abundant Music, possibly Guitar Pro 6
 • Timelapse: Chronolapse

I’m thinking of making a stream. I haven’t streamed anything before, but it sounds very easy.

Streaming Widget Alpha

Hey folks. I’ve been working on a sidebar widget that automatically fetches live streaming video from Twitch TV. It’s still in development, but it is usable. Use this post to share feedback with me.

Version: Alpha 1

Currently using Diablo 3 livestreams, since there are no Ludum Dare streams.

Usage (soon): Create a stream on Twitch.tv and set your game to “Ludum Dare“.

I like it 😀

I’ll definatley start streaming Game Dev stuff once LD 26 rolls in. I do like to stream a lot so i’ll love to do it. I can even help provide a couple tutorials for the FAQ if you need some help with that.

I’m in! First time ever!

This will be my first ever LD, and hopefully not my last.
I intend to record a time lapse, and I imported some Kool-aid to the uk just for this event.
LUDUUUUMMMMM DAAAAAIIIIIIIRRRREEEE

// Language: Javascript

// IDE: nodepad++ & Visual Studio 2012(overkill for javascript, but the dark theme is so nice for night coding)

// Engine: Your web browser

// 2D: Photoshop, tux paint(for the high fidelity concept art)

// 3D: N/A, possibly next year when webgl is a thing

// Sound: SFXR, Audacity

>> Looks like << I'm in for the 2nd time

Hello everybody! Last time I participated and had really much fun creating game Life of Worm, which you should be able to google or find on Ludum Dare page. Also, I’ve got some positive feedback, so I’ll try to participate another time and we’ll see ;). However, I don’t know how about my exams, so it’s possible I’ll not be able to take part :/ Anyways, this is what I use to create games:

I hope the theme is going to be something what is easy to create a game for…

Good luck to everyone! 😉
