LD27 August 23–26, 2013

Count me in!

This will be my first compo ever.  Been programming in BASIC dialects mostly for over 10 years and made a few little games here and there over the years. Trying to get back into the mood of programming. I’ll be using Visual Basic 6.0 and be using no outside modules or libraries that I can think of.

Timelapse Issue

I want to make a timelapse of this coming ludum dare with chronolapse but when I start capture it says that it needs a write permission. Could anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance.

it sounds like the location it’s sending the images is restricted. Next to screenshots, click configure and change the screenshot locations.

I’m in.

This will be my first LD entry ever, I only have 24 hours but I’ll give it a shot anyway.

Here is what I will be using:
C#
Monogame
My own messy and incomplete code base that I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy: Find it here..
JSON.Net
Farseer Physics(if the game needs physics)
Paint.NET
Audacity

Maybe this time

Hi, my name is Andy (@Bananattack on Twitter). I am entering Ludum Dare, probably.

For my game development, I will likely use Plum. Plum is my 2D desktop Lua game engine, it’s permissively licensed and rad (and so are all of its dependencies), and nearing a release. It has 2D rendering (OpenGL 3.2 core profile under the hood), hardware images/software canvases (.png, .gif, .jpeg, .bmp, .pcx, etc), audio (.ogg and a bajillion tracker formats thanks to libmodplug), tilemaps, sprites, multiple resizable windows, “fake” fullscreen (big borderless window), timing, keyboard, mouse, joysticks, files.

The code itself is cross-platform C++11 and should port without problems later, but I’ve only compiled for Windows lately, hopefully. A Linux port shouldn’t be too hard (and it used to compile on Ubuntu), but all of the build stuff for it was killed after I stopped maintaining it and it fell way behind — I want to bring it back sometime soon. I’d love to have people audit my code and help me port it to Linux/Mac. The Windows build is a single exe that bundles all of its dependencies statically, and I hope that other platform builds can be equally self-contained. This is my goal soon, and hopefully it will be of use for jamming games quickly during Ludum Dare.

Also, I have a few ideas for LD games, not even knowing the theme yet, that I might try and fit if they still apply. I leave things that vague though. I want to actually finish an LD entry. Maybe this time!

My first Ludum Dare

I was going to be in the last Ludum Dare, but I plans got in the way of that. Last time, I was going to use VB.NET, but since, I’ve been learning how to use Unity. So, I will be using Unity this time around. Since I’m still learning, I’m only going to do the jam, but I figure that it will be a good learning experience.

Tools:

Unity

Language:

Javascript

Models:

Blender

Maya

Images:

Gimp

May find models and sounds online. (Those are allowed in the jam, correct?)

Definitely going to livestream everything. www.twitch.tv/tylerb1997

Anyways, really excited to get started. Good luck to everyone!

I am in

I will be jamming something up this weekend following the theme that is ultimately selected this week.

I will be using Unity3D, some C# scripting, some models done in Blender.

My image editing will be done using GIMP.

Sublime Text 3 as my code editor

MonoDevelop 2.8 for debugging. (or Debug.Log’ing, as appropriate)

Probably Famitracker and Audacity for sound, if nothing else. I’d have to see what kind of random audio toys I can dig up before this weekend to make sounds with.

Oh, and I also have an Oculus VR dev kit.. I might play around with that this weekend as well.

I /might/ be able to do a TwitchTV thing.

Looking forward to making something new this weekend along with you all. And playing the abundance of awesome games afterwards!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
-Tom

I’m in

I will be using the processing java library in eclipse. Tools that I will use include:

  • Paint.net
  • Eclipse
  • Notepad++ (maybe)
  • LMMS (maybe)
  • Audacity (maybe)

I’m in.

What’s so special about this edition? Friendship! The first time I jam with someone.

Construct 2 is my tool, he will be in charge of the sound.

Never used it for a competition, nor do I have much experience on it. But the fun of jams lies on the adventure.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in

I’m in, exact same tools as last time.

Tentatively in

Depending on what’s happening this weekend.  Guess I’ll give it a go.  I’ll be using a really simple 2d overhead engine I made as a prototyping tool in SwiftForth (on top of a bunch of other proprietary code) a couple months ago.   It relies on Allegro5/OpenGL.  Platform: Windows 8 (and hopefully below.)

Alternatively, depending on how coding goes the next couple days, I’ll make an NES ROM.  (It’s a somewhat nebulous adventure game I haven’t even formally announced anywhere but the nesdev forums … what the prototyping tool was originally intended to catalyze but I ended up just prototyping directly in 8-bit.)

So yeah either way it’ll be overhead.

Other misc tools: Photoshop, GraphicsGale, NES Screen Tool, Mappy, Nintendulator, Nestopia

I’m in, for the second time

I will hopefully be entering this weekend, providing nothing else comes up.Same tools as last time. Good luck!

Tools:
– Unity w/ 2DToolkit & iTween
– Inkscape/Gimp
– bfxr, autotracker.py

This time I’m in!

I missed the last one, but this time I’m going to participate! The idea of #ldtd is great, but I think I’ll either stick to the official theme or will choose my favorite one – Space.

My tools:

  • JavaScript (coffeescript) + Pixi.js for coding
  • Photoshop for art
  • Bfxr for sounds

Last time I used Playcraft Engine, but it seems that its creator doesn’t pay much attention to it, so I’m going to use pixi instead.

Good luck to you all, have fun!

Subtheme-shmubtheme

no-to-ldtd

This so much more fun than my “judge-each-game-on-its-merits” campaign.

Count me In

New LD competitor here.

Chosen Weapons:-

– LUA, LOVE2D (probably some pre-fabricated libraries but I am going to try and keep it all simple).

– Paint.NET & Hexels

– Maybe some bit music from the IPAD app pixitracker

– No Energy drinks, I hate them.

– Ice cream, coz it will be a nice day outside this weekend and I dont want  to miss that entirely!!!!

Good Luck All taking part!

I’m in (again)!

Hey guys, this is gonna be my second ludum dare!

tools:

construct 2

adobe photoshop cs6

audacity/bfxr

I hope to be here !

Hey game makers, friends, and everyone else !
I’m currently away from home and will try to come back home for the weekend. Being the creator of Small Village and Chez Angelo, I hope to make you something to enjoy once again.
As usual, I’ll be using Unity, notepad, Photoshop, sfxr, bfxr, audacity, and lmms. Using only some default assets, making the most of it as usual.
I hope to see you soon, looking forward to our creations !

Cheers,
Edocentrique

How I`m preparing for my first LD

The smell of caffeine, cigarette butts, pizza and my cat yawning. This is how this night has passed. Since this is my first Ludum Dare I wanted to make some preparations for the actual contest, so I`m putting together a framework to use when the theme comes out. I started like 9 hours ago, and this is what I came up with so far. Still have to implement lots of stuff like AI, some kind of scripting, finish full level physics generation, and of course, create art. Here I`m a bit more lucky, since a friend is going to help me create art (you wouldn`t want to see mine without a bag nearby).

I’m in for the Jam!

This will be my second LD Jam, but this time I’m going to work solo and I’ll be using…

Engine and Code: Unity 4 w/Javascript(Unityscript)
Graphics: Adobe Illustrator, Flash and Photoshop
Sound and Music: FL Studio and Adobe Soundbooth

Last time I ran into a few more problems than I expected so I lost a lot of time and made my entry look almost look like a game (a little incomplete), hopefully this time with a little prep to make sure all my tools are working I’ll be able to make something that resembles a complete game.

I’m in.

Just me going to make another attempt at an LD probably won’t release anything again.

I’ll be using:

-the GIMP for graphics

-Autotracker-Bu/lmms (depending on if I have time) for music

-Audacity for sound effects editing

-Bfxr for sound effect generation.

-And my own ThisHackishMess (https://github.com/Spummy/ThisHackishMess) as a game engine/game base, programming done in Python.
