LD27 August 23–26, 2013

My first time participating in Ludum Dare!

Hi!

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. I will be participating in the LD Jam due to some constrictions in my time. Maybe I’ll join the compo next time if I like participating!

I will be reusing some of the code I have written for other projects (might even open source them after all!) as I will be making a HTML5 game.

Other tools will include:

  • Photoshop/GIMP
  • Audacity/Ableton
  • Probably a lot of coffee, maybe a couple of beers
  • TextMate 2
  • Safari/Chrome/Firefox

I’ll be trying to put out a game by the end of the weekend!

I think you need a link to your base code, so everyone can see it….

Ohh I’m so stupid… That’s the reason to why I’m not the programmer on my team…

Good luck! 😀 Hope you have fun in your first LD

Back again!

I have abandoned gamedev for a long time but I’m IN for this LD for sure!

I’ve been working with C++ and SDL 2.0 for the last month and I need to finish my C++ & OpenGL demo engine so I think I’ll use Processing as usual for a change.

BTW. This is what I’m working on:

ePic Character Image and Token Generator

Check out on Facebook! We always appreciate some encouraging comments and ideas.

I’m in the jam

This is my first Ludum Dare. Here is a list of the software I’ll be using:

Language: Python

Library: Pygame

Graphics: Photoshop

Sound: cfxr

IDE: Sublime Text

never noticed that before

It looks like the jam starts one second later than the 48 hour compo. Do jammers still have 72 hours?

I also wanted to point this out a long time ago.

Once I’ve exhausted all the ways to fail, only success will remain

yougotmethere

(sorry Ludipe, but imitation is flattery)

Code: Haxe/OpenFL, FlashDevelop — Flash primary platform for networking (Player.IO), Ouya for shits n giggles

Libraries: enhanced Haxe MIDI ported to OpenFL, custom component framework (i’ll decide and share at kickoff)

Art: Paint.NET, Bamboo tablet, 5th-grade art talent

Sound: FruityLoops & surprise instruments, bfxr, Audacity

Tools: Ogmo

My first time!

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. As this is also my first game jam, I’m really excited. My goal is to create a java game for Android (even if it necessarily limits the audience). Tools that I will use:

  • Eclipse
  • Paint.net

I would like to use a music generation soft dedicated to ambient music. Does anyone have an idea?

my entry tools

will be visual studio, c++, cegui for us, fmod for sound, raknet for internet if necessary. photoshop 5/gimp for 2d art. any 3d stuff will probably be procedural.

sound effects, audacity.

cheers – this will be my first attempt at a game in a weekend.

First time in Ludum :)

Well, this should be fun. I have never actually finished a game, nor have I ever attempted to make one in such a short time so this will be fun!

The tools will depend on what direction I will go in depending on the theme.
2D:
C++, SDL, Photoshop.

3D:
Unity3D, Blender, Photoshop

See ya when the time comes.

Yup, I’m in.

After skipping last LD I’m back. Had some pleasant experiences with my last entries (Wormelution: Overall #43, Dr. Spackolo: Humor #5) so I’m looking forward to the weekend :)

This time I’ll try to do an audio-only game, maybe with some written story. So here are my weapons of choice:

  • JavaScript, Chrome, WebAudio API
  • Maybe I’ll use some code from my HTML5 Game Jam Boilerplate
  • Audacity, Logic Pro, SuperCollider
  • Maybe some Adobe CS6 for title graphics.
  • I think I’ll code in Sublime Text

As I won’t have time to work on it on Saturday Night i might extend to 72h Jam, but I’ll see how it will go.

Looking forward to lots of 1-Stars for graphics :)

We’re In!

We're In!

@gredgie and myself (@garethiw) are in for our second LD, going for all 72 hours of the Jam again.

We’ll be using a voxel engine I’ve been working on which I hope is flexible enough to use for any genre of game, and to fit any theme.

Tools we’ll be using:

  • C#/XNA/Monogame
  • A voxel sprite editing tool I’ve knocked up
  • Photoshop
  • Audition
  • Caffeine
  • Xsplit/Twitch for streaming
  • Pizza

Stream will be up at http://twitch.tv/garethiw Friday evening (GMT).

GLHF!

Challenge accepted!

For my first ever Ludum Dare I’ve decided to use Unity (also for the first time).

I shall be using:

  • Unity (I’ll possibly have to use one of the standard character controllers)
  • GIMP
  • Possibly Sfxr for audio

I can’t draw, not even squares, so… yeah sorry for my graphics in advance.

We’re in Team: TBD

I’m Putting together a team for the 72 hour code Jam. Currently

1 Artist

1 Music composer

1 Programmer

-Using Either Flash or Unity

-Possibly Box2D, Greensocks  Tweener

I’ll update with more details when we have our first little pow wow.

Looking forward to it.

WE’RE flippin’ IN!

werein

4th LD for @FunByJohn, 2nd LD for @Takorii.

Code: ActionScript 3

IDE: Flash CS5.5

Graphics: Photoshop

Audio: Probably FL studio and/or Audacity

In april LD we made Vast, which got #2 in Graphics and #6 in Mood in the Jam. You can play it by clicking this thumbnail:

After playing it, you could read my write-up on the game on my website.

Lots of LD hype from us. :D

Things I learned #2

Last Ludum Dare, right before I started, I wrote a list of things I’ve learned in the past 4 months, and I feel I should do it this time as well.

  • People like catchy and atmospheric music. There is a fine line between atmospheric and droning.
  • If you’re making puzzles, find a middle ground between too hard and too easy.
  • Because you’ve created the game, and know how to beat it, there will be many things you overlook. Try not to overlook those.
  • BETA
  • TESTERS
  • ARE
  • SUPER
  • IMPORTANT
  • Try and use as little memory as possible, so it plays roughly the same on everyone’s computer, no matter how old.
  • Mood in video games is super important. You want to leave people feeling an emotion, and what emotion that is is super important.
  • Along those lines, there’s a difference between Super Meat Boy mad (where the player blames themselves) and regular mad (where the game is at fault).
  • Never punish a player for something out of their control.
  • Take pride in your work. Not many people can make a whole game in 48 hours!

I’m in!

see header 😀

In, maybe

I’ve been wanting to do the compo for almost a year now but never got around to it.  Hopefully I will be able to this time. Will probably stick to the old HTML5 single-player 2D game formula, but Unity and Monogame seem appealing as well

I have made several games in the past, but never really finished anything. Will be interesting to see what effects the strict time limit will have.  One thing is certain: there will be bugs!

This time I’m sure I’ll be in

I’ve attempted multiple times at the Jam and never really done anything. This Time I will be entering the compo! I use game maker studio (no hating). Good Luck everyone!

Probably in.

I’ll probably join this LD. It would be my first one, and I’m hoping to learn lots of stuff in 48 hours.

I’m doing the JAM!

Hopefully…

Just a quick sentence about my previous entry, I’m SORRY, I really wish I could do better,

on the bright side, I’ve learnt from my mistakes, and improved my programming skills, hopefully I will make all those who supported me when I doubted myself in the competition proud, thank you all for your support!,

Sincerely, Pixel Shield.

Back… in 3D!

Well I’ll be joining this LD too however this time I’ll do things slightly different than the first two times because this time I’ve took the time to learn Unity.

While I can’t say I’m a pro I have learned most of the basics and I think I’m good enough to make a game with it.

Anyways, other stuff I’ll be using…

3D models: Blender

2D graphics: Paint.net (I might use something else too…. not sure)

Sound/Music: Audacity, Bfxr and SunVox or lmms.
