LD27 August 23–26, 2013

Nobody reads “I am in” posts

To prove you that javascript games can be monetized not only by putting ugly ads inside and trying hard through the Kongregate I will make a game that:

1) Runs in the browser
2) Has native windows executable
3) HAS NATIVE ANDROID APK

All in javascript. No static games. Only full blown realtime. No HTML5 buzzwords all over the place 😉

+ I have a fever

Also one tip for everyone who cannot draw and will be making rather shape based game. Colour lovers is your friend. My previous game features almost no graphic files and still lookin good – only because the palette.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd I’m in.

So this is like the third time doing Ludum Dare, the last three were very fun and challenging at the same time! Anyway this one should be fun, I have seen a few interesting themes, a few shit themes and a few good themes so hopefully one of the good themes will be picked. So I am going to be using:

Game Development:

Unity3D or Flash

Language:

JavaScript or AS2

Audio:

Audacity and Bfxr

Art:

Sproxel

Paint.NET

Livestream:

www.twitch.tv/mattysvn/

So here we go! 48 Hours to make a game, it should be an interesting 48 hours!

Streaming Problems Linux

I tried to setup a livestream on Linux Mint 15.

INRES="1920x1080"
 #OUTRES="1024x640"
 OUTRES="480x270"
 FPS="25"
 QUAL="fast"

 API_KEY=my key is a secret :P

 ffmpeg -f x11grab -s "$INRES" -r "$FPS" -i :0.0+0,0 -f alsa -ac 2 -i pulse -vcodec libx264 -vpre "$QUAL" -s $OUTRES -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 -threads 2 -qscale 5 -b 712000 -f flv "rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/$API_KEY"

It works with audio for the first few seconds and than it refuses to continue streaming (it stays at the same frame).

My upload rate is 23 kb/s – that’s bad, but it should be theoretically good enough.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

I’ve been using avconv:

I’m in ! First LD.

Slide1

Pretty excited, cause, it’s my firt LD  and first game alone. If you have any tips, I’m interrested.

Engine : Consrtuct 2.

Graphics : paint.net

Sound : Bxfr

Good luck everyone.

I’ll be participating in Ludum Dare, can’t wait!

Hey everyone, this will be my first Ludum Dare participation. The competition begins for me at 2AM Saturday, so I’ll post once again then. I’ll be posting every couple of hours until the competition ends, updating everyone(which is nobody) on the game’s progress, my progress and how shattered I am.

Tools I’ll be using:

  • Unity3D for the engine and general development
  • Photoshop for any textures
  • FruityLoops for any music (though I’m not sure how to use the damn program)
  • My microphone for sound effects
  • MonoDevelop, Unity’s built in coding program.

I’ll have fun playing all the great games the community makes, and I hope at least somebody enjoys mine.

Thanks for reading(if anybody did)!

My first LD!

Hello,

on a daily basis I am C++ programmer. In my life I finished only two games, tic-tac-toe and pong (which is sad fact :P). Wish me luck, I will give my best there.

I will be using C++ and SFML2.0, if I get enforced to I will add some Entity Component System library (maybe EnitityX, what do you think?).

I’m In!

This will be my 6th time in the compo, and being in the UK, this LD has come at the perfect time, what with the bank holiday Monday right after the weekend.

Stuff that I will probably use:

Language: Haxe (love it!)

Libraries: OpenFL for 2D/general, h3d for any 3d, Ash-Haxe for Entity/System management

IDE/Text Editor: Sublime Text 2, Vim, or FlashDevelop (depends on current OS/preference)

Graphics: Aseprite

Audio: SunVox for music, BFXR for sfx

Good luck to everyone! Cannot contain my excitement 😀

Also, I’m going to try and use my Twitter a lot more during the compo – @Erifdex

EDIT: One more thing, I have a Github repo containing some base code (might change a little during the compo, might change a lot) https://github.com/Erifdex/LD27

Seems like a lot of people using Haxe this compo, myself included!

Yeah, it’s great to see the number of Haxe games rising each LD – such an awesome language! And good luck to you too!

!ni ma I

Alright I’m in for my sixth Ludum Dare!

Engine/Code: Unity and MonoDevelop

Language: C#

Art: paint.net

Audio: bfxr (if I have audio)

Please don’t vote for ’10 seconds’.

Hi everyone! PsichiX is ready to go!

My maxim for this edition is: Keep It Simple Stupid. That mean, don’t let my ambitions go too far.

I will use:

  • my XenonCoreDroid as game engine.
  • Java as programming language.
  • Android as target platform.
  • DroidEdit as code editor.
  • DroidDevelop as project manager.
  • Java IDE Droid as project builder.
  • SunVox as music maker.
  • IsoPix and Pixelesque as pixelart makers (or i will use math for procedural graphics).

And yes – i will again make my game directly on my smartphone. I hope that i will be able to share my progress during compo :)

I’m in

I'm in!

I will use my own haxe-based entity system – called Seagal – located here: https://github.com/Tommislav/seagal
I
t’s a bit more to be done before it’s of any real use to anyone, but check it out if you’re interested.

And make sure to up-vote the theme “Strange Power-ups“. It is a theme that goes nice with #kittens, #goats, #LDTD, #LDTO, #potato (and … ehm … #nopotato I guess…). The world does not have enougt strang power ups!!!

Good luck everyone!
/Tommislav

Please. Someone make a game of this.

http://youtu.be/LlvUepMa31o. It demands a platformer/forever runner treatment.

The animation was created with “The Music Animation Machine”: http://musanim.com/

I was going to sit on this idea, I’m sure it’s nothing new and something kickass could come of it.

Hot damn if you don’t make it I will!

I’m in

for the 3rd time. And I’m hoping the winning theme won’t be 10 seconds, otherwise I might feel forced to create a sequel to my last Ludum Dare game 20 seconds.

I will keep using my language of choice: Dart
I’ll be using these libraries for my game: dartemis, dartemis_toolbox and simple_audio.
Images will be created using GIMP and/or Aseprite and packed using TexturePacker.
Bfxr will be the source for my sound effects. And maybe Audacity as well.

Good luck to everyone and create more than a thousand great games once more :)

I’m in.

Hi everyone,

I’m going to participate in this LudumDare. It will be third LD for me.

Here is list of tools i’ll use:

  • Code: My own base code (available here). It based on Anthill framework and Box2d. (Language is AS3)
  • Graphics: Adobe Flash.
  • Sounds: Audacity, sfxr and web sites with commercial-free sounds/loops (ex. flashkit)
  • IDE: FlashDevelop

Good luck for everyone!

Declaration of In

So I’m in. May this time go better than last time (all you can really ask for, really).

Code: Haxe/Haxepunk

Sound: Probably nothing, but sfxr or some other procedural sound thingy if I get around to it.

Art: gimp, I guess.

And base code, which will be the ruins of the last three games I was working on. Should be able to pull something from the rubble there (although I’m still not sure the way I’ve written it makes good sense … but whatever. Guess it works) http://www.mediafire.com/?yzp80icqk7a4zx4

Team Full Frontal Explosion is in to blow some stuff up

This year I’m doing the jam with my team. I will be farting out code, Cherry is flicking pixels, and Jesper will be rapping.

As always I will be using stencyl, for its expediency. I will maybe also be streaming somewhere.

GREAT JOB MAKE GAMES !!!

In for my 2nd or 5th Ludum, depending on way of counting.

Well, here we are again! All LDs I joined before were total failures 😀

Let’s sum up my former tries:

  • For Ludum Dare 24 (Tiny World) I made a 3D model of a hoover. I was trying to do something with it in Unity, but inevitably failed due to lack of time, skill and willpower.
  • For Ludum Dare 25 (You Are The Villain) I wanted to make something with my not-yet-gamedev friends from real life. One of them wrote a storyline about an illegal gun trader. In the end, I only made a glowing human model which I later used for my January #1GAM/#1GAMCRUNCH game.
  • For Ludum Dare 26 (Minimalism) I made my best LD entry yet (as of that moment). It was so silly so I don’t even wanna link it here. People found it trippy. 😀
  • For MiniLD 43 I teamed up with Tim and Finn and made Song of Sparks, the first game since DOSball (which was my very first game years ago) I was proud of. Actually, I didn’t do much coding and design, though it was me who put Finn into the music-drunk trance which led to creation of the game. Surely it will be a great commercial release soon, so I’m not linking. 😛

This Ludum Dare I wanna make something good. No need for it to be super cool or great, my goal is to reach an overall note higher than or equal 3.

Tools?

  • It will be probably a 2D game, so I’m gonna use LOVE engine.
  • For LOVE engine, I will need a nice text editor. Kate or Nano, I didn’t decide yet.
  • For music, I’m gonna use my Yamaha PSR-E423. Yeah, I’m totally proud of remembering it’s model number.
  • For music to listen while I’m coding, Tomahawk. There’s no way I listen through something else. Feel free to add me through Jabber resolver, my ID is michis-tomahawk@jabbim.com

Don’t expect me to stream, I don’t have a stable internet connection. But surely you can find me on Twitter or AfterNET IRC server.

Good luck, my dear friends.

Good luck to you too. I may pop in to the IRC, but probably not.

Good luck, Michi! You’ll do great.

First LD48

So this is my first Ludum Dare and I’m really excited for it. Looking at the themes some seem very difficult yet others are much easier. I have taught myself how to use programs like Construct 2 and will be using either the r130 (which I already have) or the r139 build (if my internet will not cut off whilst downloading it). I am going for 48 hour Comp but if not I will submit it for the 72 hour Jam. I have loved LD for a year now and I love some of the creative work people come out with.

Code: Construct 2’s HTML5 with WebGL. I know it really well and I know what I can do and not do with it.

Graphics: 2D made using Pixelformer. I quite like the layering and the minimal features it has. I will also be using Dawnbringer’s 32 palette with a few added colours to give more colourful sprites.

Music: Will be added if I can, it really depends on time and the theme we all get. It will most likely be some royalty-free music like Kevin Macleod.

I can’t wait to get started and wish you all the best of luck 😀

Forgot Something

Seen some other people post this so I might as well.

I’ll also be using FlashDevelop.

There. That’s all the tools.

Attempt to finish a game

Language: C#

Libraries: SharpDX (maybe), Farseer Phyics Engine (perhaps)

Art: Paint.net (probably)

Sound: No idea (definitely)

Environment: Visual Studio

Best of luck to everyone!

Streaming LD27!
