My first Ludum Dare!

Yey! First time here!:-)

Language:  C++ (Marmalade)

Graphics: Illustrator / Netscape

I’m in

I’m in for my 6th Ludum Dare. I’ll be using C++ with the SFML media library, starting with the same framework that I used for my previous ludum dares. It’s bad, and when I made it I had no clue how to use C++, but it works. I think. I haven’t actually tested it yet.

I’ve worked out how to use Debian, so I should be able to get a linux port at some point. Also fixed a bug which meant all music was loaded into memory at the start which produced 30 second loading times as well as it being completely unable to run on bad computers.

Sound: bfxr
Music: GreaseMonkey’s autotracker
Graphics: paint.net

If you want to be part of a controversial and heated discussion, head over to #ludumdare on afterNET and announce that you like the 10 second theme.

THIS Time!

Considering I missed the 25th ludum dare and couldn’t make anything for the 26th (I know, how could I mess up ‘minimalism’?!), I am going to go full on with the 27th! I’m gonna practice, get some basic exercise, inspire myself, and eat well. I will also be unable to work on ROCKETS FUCKING EVERYWHERE, but I was procrastinating on that a lot anyways, so maybe this will help out a bit.

I’m using the following:

-Construct 2 Personal (Engine)

-FL Studio (Music/SFX)

-Bfxr (SFX)

-Flash (Art/Graphics)

Can’t wait for the contest to start! Good luck everyone! 😉

I’m in!

I’m in for LD 27 compo! I’ll be using my new Java/Lua game framework. Haven’t made a proper game with it yet, but making a game in Lua instead of Java will be fun.

IDE: Probably Sublime Text 2 maybe notepad++
Framework: RGine, Lunar Engine? don’t really have a name for it.
GFX: Paint.net and Blender
Sound: I’ll try to be creative
Music: Garageband for IPad

Random screenshot of my framework, http://puu.sh/48caH.jpg
It’s not amazing, but it’s good enough

We’re finally in!

I’m going to be ludum daring as usual but this time with the help for a friend of mine, Sean.

I’ll probably be livestreaming as well but I still have to test that out.

Engine: Unity

Language: C#

Art: Blender

Sound: Magix Music Maker MX Premium

IDE: Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate

Some more tools and base code…

Some other tools I may possibly use:

TexturePacker, Audacity

And some simple base code I could use:

Edit: I broke my github repos(first time using it lol), new link:

My Class Library

I’m in, too… I guess!

Hey guys, first-timer here.

I really don’t know if I’ll be able to create something, so tired from work lately. But I’ll try!

Here’s what I’ll probably use:

Framework: cocos2d-x/C++
Music: BeepBox and/or GarageBand
SFX: BeepBox and/or Bfxr
Graphics: Pixelmator and/or GIMP

Good luck to everyone!

I’ve got this guys!

Second time. I’ve got a few ideas swimming around!
I’ll be using GM:Studio and I’ll see if I can get an html5 version working properly this time, and I’ll probably have control options.

We’re In

Team Minion is excited for their second team jam!  We had a blast with the last entry and can’t wait to dive into this one.

Tools Include:

  • Unity 3D (using C#)
  • 3ds
  • Photoshop

Team members include:

  • Eric
  • Damon
  • Sonny
  • Brad

Let’s do it!

I’m in again, Le’ go!

I’m pretty excited, I have a new laptop to gamedev on. Gonna be using Game Maker Studio like always. Everyone good luck! :)

First Timer!

Hey all!

Will be joining the LD movement with my first participation in the compo this weekend!

Language/Tech: ImpactJS and Impact++

Visuals: Pixen

Sound: Have no idea…

Will try to make a playable game but no promises :)

Already distracted…

This is how my Ludum Dare always goes:

  • Hey! There is a new LD coming!
  • I’m in!, hell yeah, I love it!
  • I should get my tooling and language selected and ready…
  • Using a game engine/tool/library feels like cheating, I should write my own!!
  • Dammit, one day before the competition and I’m 50% done with my own framework!
  • Yes! My framework is done, do I still have time for a game? No, it is 2015 by now.

But … it is entertaining, educational and most importantly: FUN!

This time I’m building a JavaScript point and click adventure game engine, like my favourite games from the past (Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Leisure Suit Larry‎, Cursed Monkey Testicle), wish me luck,

Here is a random kitten (have to practice drawing too):

kittah

QUESTION: Can anybody recommend a good pixel-based drawing tool? I’ve seen Pyxel and Pickle, any other suggestions?

Tags: javascript, kitten, pixel

I’m in!

This will be my 7th entry to Ludum Dare, and my 5th in a row. Woo!

Tools

  • Haxe + HaxeFlixel – Haxe is great, and AS3 compilation means that everyone can easily play my game. It’s a tough choice between HaxePunk and HaxeFlixel, but HaxeFlixel seems more fully-featured.
  • Sublime Text 3 – My favorite text editor turned 3 this year! She’s growing up so fast…  :'(
  • Pixen – For dat super-sexy pixel art! Honestly I’ve been flirting with switching over to Photoshop because Pixen is not so great, but then again, Photoshop is so bulky…
  • Ableton Live – For dat beautiful orchestrated music! With bongos! Everyone loves bongos. Gosh, I would love to be able to write more than a single theme this time.
  • Git + Github – If you don’t know what version control is, you should learn! It’s so helpful when you accidentally delete some code you really need back. My code will be living here. Feel free to watch it – I’ll watch you back!
  • Coffee – The most important tool of all?

Things I need to remember:

  • Get a beta tester!!! This was on my last “things I need to remember” list and I still forgot to do it, because I always finish my games right at the deadline. So with that in mind…
  • Finish early. So that I can actually ask the beta tester to beta test stuff.
  • Make a few features, and make them real good. Don’t make a ton of features that are all crappy.

Seems like all those themes sorta go hand in hand, heh.

I’ve been practicing art so I could do better than my previous dismal attempts. Here’s the latest thing I doodled:

I've come a long way, don't you think?

I’ve come a long way, don’t you think?

Let’s do this!

Long time jealousy haver, first time entrant.

Using C++ with SFML, dotEditor, bfxr and pixitracker.

Been home rolling a basic 2D tile engine for a couple weeks now as the basis. You can find what I’ve done so far on Github

Wish me luck :-)
