LD28 December 13–16, 2013

Commencement shall have commenced in future times of ld 28

Wow another one of these? I’m doing this to myself again? I intend to be pygaming it up as usual, using my super small base code that I use for everything (pwbc). Art to be drawn (badly) in either gimp or inkscape depending on where the muse takes me. Probably going to twitch it up as well.

The themes are all relatively interesting, hopefully my idea brain is actually available this weekend to make use of the seeds that have been planted in ludum dare’s soil.

Fear ye, fear ye, for the time of the flowing creativity unbounded is nigh, and what could be a more dangerous weapon than the imagination unleashed on an unsuspecting universe of interconnected pixels who may or may not be people?

Pending LD28

I would have liked the theme “Onion-Man” has a chance to get… :'(

That would be my 5th participation. The last 3 times I have used flash and flashpunk lib. I will try to take the leap and move to haxe and haxepunk lib.

IDE : FlashDevelop
Graphics : Photoshop/Gimp, Illustrator
Tools : Ogmo editor, FormatFactory
Sfx: LabChirb, Sunvox, Audacity

Sprite Code for Unity and Desktop Photo

Unity 2D Sprite Animation

I spent the warmup weekend cursing the collision detection in the new 2D mode in Unity for several hours until I realized that there was a new OnCollisionEnter2D. Makes sense, but lesson learned: know your tool before starting. I would have been so frustrated if those hours had been tomorrow afternoon, that I don’t know what would have happened.

After that debacle, I made a Unity2D Sprite Animation Script that I think turned out pretty nice and easy to use. Probably there are better and more efficient out there, but since we’ll probably use it, it needs to be available. So here you go. If you want to use it, consider it public domain.

Short instructions: Use Unity’s sprite editor to break up sprite sheet(s) into sprites. Then add one SpriteAnimator per type of animation you want on your game object (e.g. ‘walk left’, ‘walk right’).
Add one SpriteAnimationSelector to the game object with the SpriteAnimator(s). The CharacterController is not a full controller by any means, but it shows how to interface with the SpriteAnimationSelector.

Finally, this is where we’ll code, more computers are coming:

And here’s where we’ll try our luck with using stop-motion in making the game:

All from our living room.

Do I dare to Dare? Well, um… yeah!

This is my first Ludum Dare and I am already pretty nervous. I don’t really feel ready for this, but I’ve heard that’s  normal. My goal is to get it done, no matter how bad. Maybe this will break the circle of over-engineering and actually give me something to be proud of.

  • Engine: Unity3D
  • Bad Graphics: The GIMP
  • Beeping: sfxr
  • Music: You’re joking right? Maybe some guitar music if I have the time.
  • Life Support: Coffee and Pizza

Good luck y’all and Greetings from Germany! :~)

First LD, First Post (Ludum Dare 28)

Hey.  This is my first time entering LD.  My classes are finished for the quarter and I needed something to do, so here I am.

I’m a beginner at Python and the PyGame library , both of which I will be using in the competition.

Wish me luck!  :)

I guess I’m in…

So, this is my first LD, and I’m feeling a little nervous. I’m working with a partner, and we’re going to be doing the Jam. I have a fair bit of experience with programming, however that is not where my strengths lie. I’d consider myself to be a bit more of a designer/manager type.

  • Engine: Either Unity, or GameMaker 8 Pro, depending on what the them turns out being.
  • Graphics: Inkscape, Paint.NET, and GIMP.
  • Sound Effects: Whatever royalty free shit I can find online.
  • Music: Either royalty free stuff or music from Kubbi (Google him. Kickass chiptune artist)
  • Life Support: Support from my girlfriend. And coffee. Lots of it. Lots of coffee.

Welcome to the LD Jam. Have fun!

Ready to rock

We’re oiling our gears and switching on our engines, tomorrow work until we die

YEAAAH

I’m in!

My first Ludum Dare! We’ll see how it goes ^^ Shooting for the competition, but I might team up with a modeler friend for the jam if I’m running behind schedule. On a side note, all of the possible themes for this year look really fun! 😀

Tools:

With so many other Unity developers, I guess I’m in good company 😛

We are in

We are in for a jam :) I’m not really sure about the number of the teammates, that’ll revealed tomorrow xD

We’ll develop in Java 😀

I’m ready!

I’m in a LD for second time. On the last event I worked with my brother and all ran fine, so this time I will work/team-up with my brother and a friend. They are thinking in develop a 3D game… But I love 2D games! We will see 😐

Engine: free Unity 3D (Nezzhil)
Graphics: 3Dmax (t4rz4) / Blender/Wings3D (me) / GraphicsGale (me)

Checking In

I’m in for my fifth Ludum Dare. I am super excited since this will be the first time doing the Jam instead. I was really happy with my result last time, so it will be hard to top it!

Things I expect to use:

  • libgdx
  • Spine
  • Universal Tween Engine
  • sfxr/bfxr

Going to try to make something that could be easily converted to work on a phone this time.

Good luck everyone!

We’ re in!

Hello, we are Pixlexia.

We made a puzzle platformer, Mono, last April’s Ludum Dare 26.

ld26

And Withdrawal Syndrome last August for Ludum Dare 27.

ld27

And we’re in for tomorrow’s Ludum Dare 28! (Jam)

Tools:

  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Language: Java
  • Library: Slick2D
  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Sound/Music: BFXR, FLStudio

Good luck & have fun everyone!

I prepare my soul for this regular challenge.

GameMakerStudio, I think. Or Unity 3D.

I’m in? First time really

So I’ve always wanted to make a game, jut a small one would satisfy myself.
But the thing is, despite looking and reading alot of tutorials (I’ve borrowed myself some Java, JS, C# and C++ books from the Library) but I still can’t get the hang of programming.  Hopefully, I can create something decent by the end of this

Since I’m more used to Unity (played around with the tools alot), I’ll be using Unity
I’m also new to sounds, so probably I’m gonna have trouble with that too..
Oh well, I guess it’s time for me to quickly digest some tutorials before it begins

*gulp*

This is my first time in Ludum Dare too. Well.. see you in TOP100 (that mean: good luck) :)

First time in the Jam

We are Sanojian and JFeldt.  While I have done a few solo LDs before this is the first time trying the Jam and this is JFeldt’s first LD!

We will be creating an HTML5 game using:

  • Editor: notepad++
  • Framework: Craftyjs and/or Raphaeljs
  • Artwork: Paint.NET and Photoshop
  • Audio: bfxr and Audigy
  • Music: FLStudio

Team:

  • Programming: Sanojian
  • Artwork: JFeldt
  • Sound and Music: Sanojian

There are some great themes this time in the final round.  Its going to be fun!

Starting in a Matter of Hours

We start in a matter of hours, people! I’ve taken the liberty to add a second moniter to my desktop and upload the “game engine”/library I plan to use. You can find that below.

I’ll probably be streaming some/most of my work, so don’t bother looking for that. Final working environment will be Eclipse (Java), Paint.NET, GIMP, Pickle, Ableton Live 9, Audacity, and maybe SFXR if I really need to.

Good luck, all!
