LD28 December 13–16, 2013

I’m in

Once again I’m in. Just hoping for some fun theme. And my tools are:

Language: Java with LibGdx library

IDE: Eclipse

Graphics: probably Graphics Gale and Paint .Net

Sounds: SFXR and maybe musagi

I will also use Tiled for creating levels.

Have fun everyone.

Im in (The first Attempt) The destroyer

Hello everyone,

while in the process of making my first own game, this event caught my eye and maybe i’ll be able to participate and use one of the ideas i have in mind if it matches the theme. i’ll be using Flixel on AS3 with FlashDevelop.

Good luck everyone.

So, yeah, glad we’re doing it again this time!

We’re going to use Haxe as our programming language, with the OpenFL library so we can target any platform if we feel like it (but most probably just Flash Player for now)…
If we go multiplayer, we will use Nuggeta.
I (01101101) can’t really speak for the others as to what they’ll be using, but Photoshop and SoundForge will probably be around ^^

Good luck everyone, and have fun! :D

Why ?

Behind these simple/short questions, I wanted to know if some of you already planned to make your game 2d or 3d regardless of the theme, and if so, why would that be (tools, knowledge, art, etc…)

:)

I’m leaning towards 3D this time, but it really depends on whatever concept my brain decides on when the theme is announced. Last time, I went with 2D because it took a lot less time and the result looked better (but it was a concept that would have been fine in both 2D or 3D).

As someone who doesn’t like to use pre-existing engines, I would say 2D. Unless you’re in the jam and already have a 3D engine premade, 2D, 2D, 2D. Its quicker to program for, but it takes longer to make assets for (unless you go for a retro style…). Though I’m pretty sure the days you save trying to get 3d working from scratch would be worth it for graphics to take slightly longer.

Short practical answer

Depends on what software you use and your experience using it.

The Holy Chicken is in!!! (for about 24 hours…)

Hey everyone!

This will be my second Ludum Dare! I had so much fun the last time I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since last one ended.

This time I have work on Sunday so I’ll have to finish everything in the first day.. like hardcore mode D:

I’ll be using:

  • XNA C#
  • Inkscape + Paint.NET + GIMP

Good luck!thcin

I’M IN !

Good luck ! It will be very funny !

12 Hours and Counting…

It’ll be 3 in the morning here when the theme is announced, so realistically work starts tomorrow. Maybe. So excited about this weekend! This is my 3rd LD! :)

Here’s my coding station (same as last time) – it’s going to look a lot messier at the end of this thing

2013-12-13 14.19.49

I’ll probably be live streaming as well.

Obligatory announcement of intention to participate.

Greetings.

Well, my last LD was 26, and I got super busy so I missed the deadline by a few hairs. I did not ‘finish’ my game, but it was mostly a prototype experiment anyway. You can find it here:

http://www.dreamwinter.net/dev/rainworks/ (best with Chrome because I am a lazy bastard and time was of the essence!)

I am locked and loaded with a lot more knowledge this time around, so I am very excited to see what comes of this. My only rule this LD is not to hate on the theme. I’m simply going to drift into creative-land and let the game design me… or.. something cool that a monk would say. And not just like a normal monk ya know, but a monk who is like super old and really wise and only speaks once every few decades but when he does it is so profound that the very air around him gasps in inspiration.
Yeah. So good luck to everyone with whatever jam they are participating in!

Techblogogy is back

Ludum dare 28 is just about to start. So heres a list of tools i’m going to be using:

programing language: c++ compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013

art: Paint.NET

If everything goes well i’m also going to do a little live stream

We’re in.

We have a small team this time.

dcm, Neurolabe (with severe time restrictions) and I, Mez, have teamed up to bring you f#ckers down!

dcm, the wizard, making the impossible possible; Neurolabe, the dreamer, making the possible impossible; and me, the clown, making the possible possible and leaving the impossible where it is with the occasional sideways glance to see if it has become possible since I last looked.

But seriously, this is what we’re doing:

  • Unity in C# – dcm
  • Unityscript – Neurolabe, maybe me if I’m feeling brave
  • Maya – Mezzomatto
  • Adobe Everything – Mezzomatto
  • Probably some Audacity – probably me
  • Maybe a bit of Blender – possibly me
  • Scraps of torn paper – definitely me
  • Whiteboard – all

Background:

We decided to do this a couple of weeks ago so we started brainstorming what we needed to learn. Then we accidentally made half of a game we like so it looks like we’ll be doing LD then going back and finishing that other one off with aaaaaall the spare time we have. At least I now know how to animated something in Maya and that UVs are not all that scary…

What our critics have been saying:

“Wow, what the actual f#ck are those guys up to?” – The Daily Mail

“Is that a bug or a feature?” – GameSpot

“Turn in down!” – Mez’s housemate

Enjoy!

Let’s Do This!

I’m keeping it short and sweet this time.

I’m In…

What I’ll be using:

>>Code: Flash (AS3)
>>Framework: Flixel with possible Fixel Power Tools
>>Graphics: Photoshop CS6
>>Sound/Music: Sfxr, Bfxr, Audacity, Drumcircle and maybe FL Studio
>>IDE: Flash Builder

Good Luck to all you enter.

I’m in … again

Last time didn’t go amazingly well.

BUT

At least I managed to get something finished.

This time I have been sharpening my skills and should be able to make something better!

Once again I’m looking forward to everyone’s submissions and maybe this time ill do a log because reading other peoples methodology to making games is really interesting.

Software I’ll be using.

Construct 2 (I know I definitely cannot script a game in a weekend but ill give it a go in the future)

GIMP2 – Gotta make some graphics somewhere man.

Fruity loops – For the sound. If there’s one thing I can do is make some noise And OBS. to do a bit of streaming.

I’m in!

Time for another Ludum Dare, which may be partially interrupted by something called an “xmas party”, but I presume one takes their laptop to such an event.

My tools for this LD48:

  • Java
  • libGDX
  • Paint .NET
  • Pixexix Pro (yay LD offers!)
  • IntelliJ
  • launch4j
  • Many, many cups of coffee

See you at the finish line!

I’m in !

Hi !
It’s my first Ludum Dare , so I’ll try to do my best.

Language : ActionScript 3 with Flashpunk

Graphics : Photoshop and/or Illustrator

Sounds : SFXR and maybe Anvil Studio

Do you have a common element to all your games?

I find this question pretty easy. My colour scheme is near constant. It’s approximately… a black background with purple, red and blue on top. So they’re all banned*.

Designwise I plan to shove the theme into boxes it might not fit – board games, non-violence, whatever I walk past in the street (mailboxes?), movement systems … see what interesting things come out.

Toolbox: Unity3d SublimeText Blender GIMP Piano NoisyThings FreshAir SufficientSleep CoffeeForWhenThoseToolsBreak

*Mostly banned. Sort of.

I’m probably in.

It’s not for sure, being at University studying an intensive course can do these things to you. On the one hand I’m a drama school student and I like to do a lot of socializing (part of show biz I guess!), on the other hand I really like ludum dare. I’ve got a few commitments over the weekend, mainly the Christmas ball. I have the excuse I was recently hospitalized and want my “rest” so that’ll free me up for quite a bit of time.

In terms of tools and the such I’m going with two options depending on the theme. Most likely I’ll be using Python 2.7, Pygame 1.9.1 and Adobe Photoshop. However, I really fancy the idea of learning to program IF using something like Inform or Twine. I haven’t played a lot of IF, so I have no idea what makes a good IF game so this might not pan out. If the right theme comes out there is a really slim chance that I might make something based off the mechanics of candybox and the like, in which case I’d probably be using javascript to some capacity ( I don’t really know js very well so I have no idea if I could make this happen).

I really want to try and do something I haven’t done before for this Ludum Dare, with a technology I’m not too familiar with but that I can get results from quickly. I’m a python guy at heart so we’ll probably see that. My first devlog here will announce what tech I’ll be using and obviously my game ideas. I’m looking forward to it!

I am in

I will use C++ and SFML with CodeBlocks.

Good luck everyone.

In I guess. :)

This will be my second Ludum Dare and once again scheduling is a problem. In spite of this I will be giving it a go and, just like last time, will not expect much. I will this time try to operate more within my bounds and see how I do realistically gauging my workload. That said, I love coming up with concepts and designs, so that will probably be where most of my limited time goes.

I’ll be using Gamemaker Studio and Gimp again.

Good luck everyone!

Have Fun!!!
