LD29 April 25–28, 2014

My first Ludum Dare

Hello, this is my first Ludum Dare(and my first game-programming chalenge).

Probably I’ll be the worst, but maybe i will only be in worst ten.

Language – Python(+ PyGame)

Art and music – home cooked(in this I’ll definitely be the worst), maybe freesound

And maybe I’ll use cx_freeze.

Good luck to everyone!!!

Wild Weekend

Forgot about LD coming up this weekend. Came as a bit of a surprise today; considered skipping it this year, since I’m already participating in the #64DSC competition on 64Digits, and the Google Code Jam (Which starts at the precise same time as LD). But really, I only need to put a few hours in and come up with an interesting concept; I’m not trying to create a full blown game!

I’ll be using Game Maker Studio, ASE for artwork and Famitracker for music/sound effects; I’ll probably Tweet progress on my Twitter account.

Have fun, everybody!

I’m in: Lua or JavaScript

Hey makers of games, this is what I plan to use:

Language: either lua or js, not 100% sure yet

Engine: either löve (lua) or pixi.js or phaser (javascript)

Graphics: photoshop

Sound: garageband, audacity, maybe a digital piano

If I use lua, I might re-use some stuff from this open-source game I made a while ago.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Jame Gam 29 time to shine

I’ll be making a game, in either the jam or the compo, using tools appropriate for the idea that I have at the time.

All set!

This will be my second Ludum Dare, and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve learned a lot since the last one. It’s time to see if there is a difference in my work!

Here’s what I’m going to use:

Unity

GIMP/Inkscape

various free sound generators

I am participating for the first time!

I am Nils, 24 years old, studying computer science and am currently working on a Pay-What-You-Want 3D game engine called Rayne.

For my game I will of course be using Rayne as engine, using bullet for collision detection and physics.

I am programming in C++ and my game will probably not have audio, unless I´ve got too much time, which is not going to happen ;). The game will initially run on OSX and I will port it to Windows after the compo.
I am going to develop the game Open Source under MIT license and use github as git server.

My main tools are:

  • Xcode and Sublime Text for programming
  • Blender for creating models
  • Gimp and/or Pixelmator for textures
  • Tower as git client

I plan on live streaming: http://www.twitch.tv/slindev

What’s one year old and almost killed me?

My Ludum Dare experience.

I started back in April 2013, with LD26. All I can remember is deep sleep deprivation and programming stuff while in a frenzied daze.

And I loved every moment.

It’s been a strange year. A few weird games dropped from my fingers, and had heaps of fun. A few sad moments, here and there (two to be precise).

Now, it’s this time of the year, again. Let’s get down to business.

  • Language: HTML5 + JS using custom framework (link provided as for rules)
  • Editor: Emacs
  • Graphics: GIMP, Inkscape
  • Sound: bxfr for SFX, synth1 for music
  • Starring: my five years old VAIO laptop, which somehow still holds himself together decently. A reliable pal.
My reliable VAIO

No other tools needed

Stretch those fingers and load up on coffee cause it’s going to be a wild weekend.

LD #29? Count me in!

I’m in again!  I have confidence and desire pumping through my veins.  I feel it; this time it’s going to be awesome.

I will be developing on Windows 8.1 x64.  My weapons of choice will depend on the theme and how I decide to approach it.  Rest assured they will consist of a mixture of the following:

 Engine:

  • Unity 3D 4.3.4 with C# (using Visual Studio 2013) – or –
  • GameMaker Studio Pro 1.2 with GML

 Art:

  • Photoshop CS 5.5 (of course) and/or Pickle 2.2.2
  • Illustrator CS 5.5
  • Flash CS 5.5 and/or Anime Studio Pro 9
  • Maya 2014 (Student) if I need 3D.
  • Good ol’ pencil and paper (wait what’s that)!

Sound:

Will I even have time to implement sound?  If so, I will definitely use:

  • Audacity
  • Bfxr
  • Musagi

Time permitting I will use Garage Band and/or try out a demo of FL Studio.  If I get this far, I promise I’m going to drop a beat Dr. Dre would be proud of!

Dropbox will be used as a working directory for all assets.  No source control this go around (yikes)!

The game will be web based and hosted on my personal site or via Dropbox.

I’ll be making a time lapse using Chronolapse and popping in and out of IRC via mIRC.

Good luck everyone, let’s have a great weekend.

Let’s do this; I’m ready, are you?

We’re in!

Hello everybody,

We are Team Java. We are originating from the Department of Informatics from the University Of Piraeus in Greece as a subcommunity of the BlackD@ck student community. Our Team is named Team Java because obviously the programming language we will be using will be Java.  The team consists of five members: Elias, Kostantinos, Christos, Dimitris and Giannis. Most of us are freshmen with no experience in such a competition, or in GameDev in general before and we are looking forward to it.

We are truly psyched about this competition and regardless of the result, we believe it will be an exciting and amazing experience and we will certainly gain a lot from it. Good luck and enjoy the competiton!!!

Hey Guys!

So ill be happily entering this years Ludum Dare. For the first time ever ill be doing the 48 hr challenge which starts at 1am (in england) for me. Happy to say ive got lots of energy drinks and such prepped for this.

Ill be using:

Unity (engine) – mainly because im learning c++ atm but it is not good enough for a enjoyable game 😀

Photoshop for textures and art

Cinema 4d for models using a low poly isometric art style.

ill hopefully be live streaming or at least time lapsing my entry.

Cant wait to see everyone’s attempts!

good luck to everyone :))

I’m in! LD29

I’m in!

Construct 2, Photoshop and FLstudio are my weapons. This time I’ll be trying to concentrate on FUN and replayability. Good luck to everyone! I love LD, let’s make games forever! Lovely to see female gamedevs on the keynote.

Here’s a pixel I prepared earlier.

I’m in!

I will participate in this april’s LD jam. :)

I want to make a 2d game, but I will wait to see what the theme is first.

My “weapons”  of choice will be:

Engine: Unity or maybe gamemaker (probably unity)

Sound: Audacity, adobe audition(or something like that) , soundforge audio studio or LMMs and garage band, because I can’t afford instruments.

2D graphics: photoshop, illustrator, gimp or paint.net (not sure yet)

3D graphics: Autodesk maya, 3ds, mudbox, motionbuilder and maybe maya LT (Instead of maya or 3ds)

Platforms: PC, Web, Kongregate (not really a platform, but whatever) and maybe android.

IDE: Visual studio or sublime text 2.

Mindmap: Xmind

Livestream: OBS (if my internet handles it(probably not))

OS: Windows 8

Repository: Github, or google drive. (not sure yet, but I’m not sure about anything)

I’ll be working alone, but I would love to work with someone  for the jam. So feel free to contact me. :)

I just realised I have to much development software on my laptop.. Ugh (the worst thing is that I have paid/student licenses for most of them.)

Goodluck to all!

-Joseph

Here we go!

I’m in!

My goal is to get something finished and playable and have fun doing it.

Engine/Editor: Construct 2

Art: Photoshop CS4

Music & Sound: Audacity, my mouth and bfxr/sfxr

I’ll be posting updates on twitter, here and on my blog :)

I’m in for my second Ludum Dare

I tried to get something worth submitting last LD, but failed pretty horribly. This year I’ll try as hard as possible to get it into the compo rather than the jam. Thankfully I have all my tools planned out this year:

  • Engine: Using Indielib if I want a 2.5d-style game. I’ll use LOVE2D otherwise.
  • Graphics: GIMP
  • Sound: Bfxr
  • Music: No knowledge of making music whatsoever. Might try to learn Milkytracker for next LD! :)

Hope everyone has an awesome time working on their LD game!

Im in for LD29

Im in for my 3 ld

Tools:

Langauge: Java

Framework: Framework my own framework

Graphics: Paint.net

Sound: Bfxr And Maybe Something Else….

I HOPE I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ludum Dare, i’m coming for you.

Hello, soon when the Ludum Dare begins i’ll make a short RPG Maker VX Ace game under 48 hours tommorrow when it begins.

I’ll honestly also work on my graphics via Paint.NET and use Bfxr for SFX!

In!

I’m in for my fifth time.
Ludum Dare starts at 3 A.M. in my timezone and, like always, I don’t have the full 48 hours at my disposal, due to real life issues and the fact I always go out in the evening. Probably I will start by putting together a couple ideas on Saturday morning and try my best at developing them during Sunday.

After upgrading my pc I didn’t install all the tools I normally use during LD and I don’t have much time to think which ones I used and why. I hope I can get away with what I have: Unity, Gimp for 2D graphics.

Until today I wasn’t sure I wanted to participate this time, it’s a rushed decision and my expectations are low. I just hope to make something meaningful. 😀

Why not

I will be participating as well. This will be my first LD48 and my second game competition/jam, the first being 7 day procedural death jam, and like the title of the jam says, it was for 7 days, so switching to just 2 will be a challenge.

Anyway, I will be making the game in Java and my 2d engine IcyEngine2D which you will not use because there is libGDX, but the rules say I need to include this so there :)

I am going to use:

  • Eclipse for programming
  • Gimp for graphics
  • Lmms and bfxr for music and sound, if I’ll even have time for that

Well, I guess we’ll see how this goes, good luck to everyone!

…still in

Just realized that I didn’t say anything about sounds and music. So I decided to go with something “simple” and easy to go with. And for me that is good old trackers. But I don’t want to go around and hunt for samples so I decided to go with SunVox for music and probably also for the sound effects.
