My Javascript library

I’m publicly releasing my Javascript / HTML5 game library, along with a (partially completed) tech demo.  It supports spritesheets, tile-based collisions readable from CSV, parallax background images, and sounds.  Get the goods here!

Updates on twitter

I’m going to be posting updates through my twitter feed. If you want to follow:  @theundeadwarrio

I need to cleanup the editor part of the engine before the competition! Goodluck everyone 😀

Magnum Progress Report

Stiller

Zoolander!

So I came up with a crazy idea. Make a game about Zoolander, relating it to the theme by “Derelicte”, the fashion line in the movie where the clothes are made of trash, which one would often find in a subway station beneath the surface. The game will focus on the climax of the movie, where Zoolander unveils his ultimate pose “Magnum” in order to save the Prime Minister of Malaysia. In the game you must do something (button mashing is all that comes to mind right now) to raise his eyebrows and pull in his cheeks (both not pictured), achieving Magnum. I spent the past two hours or so on this sprite, as it will be kind of the only one in the game possibly? Art is not my forte, but I’m kinda happy with how it came out. I haven’t touched a line of code yet, but the code shouldn’t be tooooooo bad (*KNOCKS ON A TON OF WOOD*). I thought I would use Unity for my game, but I’m gonna go with Processing instead, where I can easily use bezier curves for his eyebrows and cheek indents. This game idea is a huge risk, but hopefully I’ll score high in Humor, and have a fun time making it! More work tomorrow!

New Channel

Hello guys i wan’t you to know my stream has been moved to http://www.twitch.tv/downthehatchproductions instead of http://www.twitch.tv/thecoder15.

How does this work?

I am joining in! For the first time ever! I am going in completely blank. Preparation is minimal and I have no idea what to expect from this, even though I have done some game jams in the past. I am very much looking forward to it and I hope to learn something. The engine is still undecided upon, it is all going to depend on the concept I come up with. I will be streaming over the weekend (though I am not sure if I can get the livestream to work on OSX) and I am looking forward sharing this experience with you.

See you all tomorrow. Let’s make game!

And the Clock Ticks Ever Closer to Madness

Less that two hours left, and I’m still scrambling to set up all my tools! This weekend is going to be interesting, as I’m not only doing this, but I’m also going to be attending the PilotPDX hackathon tomorrow, which will take over twelve hours away from the little time that I have. Microscale isn’t even small enough. This time, I have to build femtoscale!

Tools ‘n Stuff:

LWJGL (Along with the Slick-Util library for loading images and sound and stuff)

Paint.NET

Blender (In the unlikely case that I’m going for something 3D)

sfxr

Abundant Music (Procedural music generator that I stumbled upon only about an hour ago. It’s pretty sweet. http://www.abundant-music.com/)

I’m in

Tools:

-eclipse with libGDX

-adobe photoshop CS6

-Tiled

First time entry

Hello, first time entry here!

I haven’t quite finished my first game in Unity but we’ll see what I can pull out in the time limit, and depending on concept and progress may end up working less time than the full amount!

Ive got Unity, Photoshop, and Maya at my disposal.  If I make it to sound effects I’m told that sfxr is a good one.

Cheers

I’m in

I’ll be using my own open-source framework: https://github.com/ianmaclarty/lotech. Best of luck to everyone!

I’m in.

I’m totally in for this Ludum Dare. It’s going to be good. Here is what I am using.

Tools

  • Language: C++
  • Libraries: Explodable Engine (my personal engine in which you can get here)
  • Art: Paint.NET
  • Audio: Audacity and sfxr

I’m hoping to finish something for this Ludum Dare, as well as seeing what other people come up with!

Going for the game Jam

Me and mah friend ChuggerTheCactus are going in for our second ludum dare, the last one ended with a theme we didn’t like, a sheer amount of laziness and the inability to figure out how dropbox works. So we thought this time we would get a game up, in some sort of form.

Program: Game Maker Studio

Language: GML

Art: Photoshop

Sound/Music: Reason/FL Studio/Kontakt/Ableton Live/Acid/Pro Tools (I use alot of music programs)

We both figured out we suck at coding, so we decided to go with something easier this time, maybe we will actually work next time, but for now, LAZINESS. Good luck to all competing, I can’t wait to see your games.

Some quick prep work

  • Make sure I have enough Redbull and coffee on hand.
  • Quick refresher on Git. Don’t want to accidentally lose anything (or everything)!
  • Make sure keyboard and mouse batteries are good.
  • Take a glance at what genre of games I’ve made in the past, try not to repeat myself.
  • Make sure C drive is still there since that is where my working directory will be. Yep, still there!
  • Examine all possible themes and try to come up with a semi-decent idea for each one.
  • Group some of the possible themes together, come up with a GREAT idea that covers them all, then gently weep when none of those themes win!
  • All phones, messaging and email applications turned OFF!

Woop woop! Entering for the 4th time!

So excited – after having slightly failed the last time, I’m pretty darn excited to join again! Here’s my setup:

My previous entries:

Graphics: Adobe Photoshop CC, Wacom intuos 4 [not sure if i’ll use it])

Sound: Ableton Live 9 Intro and / or Bitwig

Editor: Sublime Text 3 on a Macbook Pro

Code: My LDFW Framework (https://github.com/saschagehlich/ldfw, CoffeeScript / JavaScript, HTML5, Canvas2d)

Streaming: http://twitch.tv/actuallyrattazong  (Adobe Media Encoder, CamTwist, Soundflower)

Drink: Effect Zero, Water

Food: Fruits, veggies, salad

EXCITEMENT!!!

Good luck everyone!

IIII’m Ready!!

This is my first full Ludum Dare, as well as my first full stream.

What I will be using:

– Blender

-Sublime

-Python

-Gimp

-We’ll see :)

Here’s hoping I’ll finish! Check it out at www.twitch.tv/cubedparadoxx !! 😀

I’m in

I plan on entering this Ludum Dare as my first. Going to be a lot of fun(:

I’ll be using java as my language and eclipse as my IDE. With GIMP as my art tool.

Everything is better when it’s last minute: I’m in!

Hey guys!

This is my first Ludum Dare entry, which is going to contrast interestingly with LD28. I’m one of the three co-founders and lead programmer of a small studio called Luderia, and in the last Ludum I wasn’t able to participate, so our Game Designer and Artist teamed up for it and ended up with Tall Grass. Now, the tables are turned! I’m the only one who can join in the fun, so I’ll make do by myself!

What I intend to use:

  • Code & Engine: Unity with C#. I’ll also be using Daikon Forge GUI because screw UI, seriously.
  • Graphics: Photoshop. I borrowed the Game Designer’s Wacom, so we’ll see what comes out of that! I’m thinking I might use some google images’ photos as collages or something.
  • Sound: So, everybody and their mothers are going to use sfxr, but I remember trying to make something useful out of it and failing miserably. I might give it another try, otherwise I’ll be going for free sound banks + Audacity.
  • Music: Either Reason or Ableton Live, with the help of my trusty MIDI controller.

And that’s it! Have fun everybody!
