Collision Shape “Library”

Since the rules say you need to post any personal libraries you will be using, here is a class I use a lot that I may or may not be using. It is pretty basic, it just makes rectangle collision a little easier.

I hope you can understand my spaghetti code.

Here is a link to the .java file on my github page:

 http://minibutmany.github.io/CollisionShape.html.

Happy Ludum Dare!

I’m In! LD29

WOOP WOOP. super pumped.

WILL BE USING:
Programming: Stencyl 2.2 or 3
Art: Paint.net, photoshop(?)
Audio: Musagi, FL9, BFXR, Audacity

other stuff i probably forgot.

Good Luck Everyone!!

My first time!

So this will be my first time.

I’m going to be participating in the Jam, with my girlfriend helping with sprites and artwork.

I don’t quite know what to expect, but I just hope to be able to have something finished by the time this is over.

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

real world gathering @ InnoGames

here we are again.

the sun is long gone and the BBQ over. With 2 hours to go we are all talking about our ideas and hopes for the theme. We just watched to classic game dev videos and are super pumped to implement all the little suggestions into our games. I think everybody should have watched these videos and if you haven’t there is no better time then just before the start.

you can call me a vlambeer fan boy but these talks are worth it.

One of many suggestion you will get from these videos is to get others to play test your game, as you are to close to it and may avoid bugs / problems (without even knowing it). When there is one thing where real world gathering come in handy than it is this one (- : finding people to play test will not be hard and i am realy looking forward to give and get feedback , to look over the shoulder of others , talk about ideas and get inspired by sharing.

i wish you the very best ! Lets all have an awesome ludum dare!

Thanks for the video links! and good luck with LD29!

Ludum Dare as a Learning Experience

This is my first attempt at the Ludum Dare compo!

I’ve decided to use this opportunity to not only have fun, but learn about Unreal 4 as well; I’ve just subscribed to it, and I’m interested in using it!

Ordinarily I’d use Unity or roll my own engine, but this is a little bit of adventure for me! I’m also thinking about streaming it too, so I’ll probably post on Twitter (@DrMelon) if that happens, along with any cool stuff that happens!

So, to summarize:

Tools:

Unreal 4,
GIMP/Aseprite,
Blender/Makehuman

Code Base Declaration . . .

This is my first time at LD and I won’t be brainstorming my ideas yet until the theme is up but as per the rules of the LD COMPO, I’ll declare here the code base that I’m going to be using.

As I’m using unity, If I decide to go for an FPS I’ll be using Unity Asset FPS code base. Although I have a code base for FPS myself on my Github account. I will be grabbing scripts from my Github account and I’ll be re-scripting some of it to fit the purposes of what game I might have in mind.

Github repositories available at https://github.com/mrfriedfish?tab=repositories

Primary platform: Unity Webplayer

Secondary platform: Standalone for Windows, Mac and Linux

Source code for the game will also be available on my Github repository account when I submit the game.

Let’s have fun!

I’m looking forwards to your game 😀

Obligatory Post 2

I will attempt this, probably in game maker. Will have to run back to lab to extract DNA from bacteria in the middle of this. Expectations are poor.

Here we go!

Here we go, for the third time!

Engine: Unity

Art: Pixen, Pixelmator

Sound: cfxr, Garage Band, Audacity

Can’t wait to play everyone’s awesome stuff! 😀

Step #1: sleep!

This will be my first Ludum Dare! And since it starts at 2am here in London, I’ll lose the first 8 hours to sleep. And the last day as well, as I’ll be working. This should be interesting :3

Nevertheless, I’m giving it a try! I’ll be in a group, so will be awesome!

We’ll be using Unity3D, so I’m watching youtube clips to refresh my memory.

Good luck everyone!

Zanz! Do Ludum Dare!

Yo yo, yo yo yo! Yo!
I’m Zanzlanz! Yo! I’m joining Ludum Dare #29 for my 5th compo in a row!

First of all, here’s the tool I made! You can drag/paste the image into the site and it shows how it would look like when tiled 😀
TextureTiler.com

Hopefully I do even better than last time, but I know it’ll be hard! xD

My past LD compo games (newest to oldest):
Str1ngle
Convey
Just Shapes
Dragon Boss
I’d Change the World for You

What I’ll develop with:
Flash (AS3)
FL Studio
GIMP
Audacity

I’ll stream with:
Twitch.TV (My page is Zanzlanz!)
XSplit
SoundCloud, Spotify, and YouTube
audiorepeater.exe for my voice

Here’s a bunch of code I may or may not use. Fell free to use it! Most of them are FLA files for the Flash IDE! Any credit is appreciated 😀

Hi, everybody! I am in!

Hi, everybody!

Hi, everybody!

I am in for my third LD, and hopefully this time I’ll both complete it in time (unlike my LD23 game) and make something actually fun (unlike my LD28 “game”).

I will use HTML5/Javascript for programming. Tools used will be:

  • sfxr and Audacity for sound effects
  • GIMP for graphics
  • Notepad++ for coding
  • My own level editor to create levels, available here

Also noteworthy it is that I will use the codebase at this github repository. It contains mostly graphics (sprite, tiling, etc) and platformer boilerplate code.

Base Code Commit

I’ve never done one of these before, but I thought I’d give it a shot this time around, even if I end up getting distracted along the way and don’t finish!

Just dumping in the base tutorial code, found on the LWJGL wiki, and getting a repository all set up.

https://github.com/FyberOptic/ludumdare29

Custom Tool

The hour is late, but I wanted to add my map editing tool for Unity:

https://github.com/Qorthos/UnityMapping

I have a towel on my head

I’m sort of in but I’m so not ready!

I’ve been porting my usual xna set of libs and tools to directx 11 (to get ready for 12, which is going to be awesome) and everything is in a gigantic mess.  I doubt anyone would try to use this anyway but if you do, you might want to use last ludum dare’s libs.

Here’s the zip including the xna stuff as well as the new directx 11 stuff.  Note that a friend at microsoft hooked me up with visual studio ultimate so the projects might not work in express.  That was something I was going to fix but I’ve ended up having to work this week so didn’t have time to fix that.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59900676/GrogLibs29.zip

So last time I didn’t finish.  I got sick on Saturday and ended up just sleeping most of the weekend.  I had a strange little room with some stick figures fighting and that was about it.  This time I’ve been sick mid week so I’m hoping I’m over it.

Another thing I might have to deal with is stormy weather.  I live in a teeny cute little town with a terribad power grid and even worse internet.  A stiff breeze can knock either out and we might get tornados, we shall see!

I’m using my usual set of tools, but I’ve added an awesome new tool a friend recommended.  Here’s a picture of it in action:renderDoccery

This is the most badass tool for the age old “I’m drawing stuff but I can’t see anything” problem.  It is like pix on steroids, and it is called RenderDoc, and it is made by the Crytek folks.  Can’t recommend it highly enough if you do lots of gpu stuff.

So yea in addition to that I usually use an old Max for characters and statics, visual studio for code, quake army knife for levels, paint.net for 2d stuff, bryce for skyboxes if I have time, sfxr and audacity and my peavey patriot guitar for music/sound, and Tetley for brainfuel.

Oh and here’s a link to my past stuff.  I think this will be my 8th or 9th time doing this.

Past Stuffs

Challenger Approaching!

First time joining a Ludum Dare project,

Just want to make sure I’m doing this right!

I think I’m suppose to state my tools and then when the topic is released, I get started and have 48 hours to make a game? Sounds like fun!

(If i’m not doing this right, PLEASE let me know!)

TOOLS I plan to use:

Gimp : Art
Node + Express + Socket.io : Code
HTML5 Canvas : Graphics
(some online sound generator) : Sound Effects

Sounds like you’re doing it right :)

Stream is setup inluding choosinator/fortunebot

Our Popo Games crew is returning for more Ludum Dare. We have set up a stream to share all the action. We also included a view of our choosinator robot.

The robot recieves commands from the chat. Typing ‘ left’  or ‘ right’  in the twitch chat will move the arrow towards one of the setup choices. Viewers can also type ‘fortune’ to give the disk a spin and have their fortune predicted (money, death, love, sadness)

Try it out yourself in the stream right here: www.twitch.tv/tiohoan

Just like the last time, we will make our game in Unity. Here’s our previous submission for the ” You Only Get One” theme: El Tigre L’ Assassino
