LD29 April 25–28, 2014

Starting this off……..

New to game development and to this Ludum Dare thing, here is what I am going to attempt to use:

– Phaser and possibly toast depending on the theme in Sublime

– Photoshop for graphics

– as3sfxr, audacity, soundbooth, gypsy flute players

– 2 out of 3 wishes I was granted by a genie

Good luck all!!!

10 minutes to LD, Pre-LD thoughts

So i thought of a few things I want out of this LD.

1. I want to finish something first and foremost.

2. Secondly, I want sound effects. I’m still new to a lot of this but with SXFR i think I should be able to learn it.

3. Come away with something I can build off of into a future game. I really like being forced to work inside a theme. I’m excited.

Last time was not so successful let’s see how this time goes.

I’m in (I hope)

I am hoping to have time to get something out there. Minimalism will be the key!

We’re In

Our distinguished team of non-cepholopodic earthlings is happy to be joining Ludum Jam 29!

We will be using Java for our entry with an ultra-basic 2D custom rendering framework.

Best wishes to all!

Progress, somewhere in the desert.

Things are going quite well, I started about 1-2 hours late but I feel like I’m going along at a reasonable pace.

Not really sure where the game is headed yet, time will tell.

What? Why are we in the desert?

Crazy HTML attempt #2

Welp, hell, I’m in! I’ve got my trusty emacs instance all setup, and Chrome is all ready to roll, so… er… Guess I’m in! ^,^

I’m in LD29

Hi there!

I’m in LD29. Hope the current theme will be interesting.

Language: C++, my base code can be found here.

IDE: Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition.

Libraries: FLTK, OpenGL, OpenAL, mpg123.

For GFX: MSPaint, Gimp.

For SFX: PXTone, sfxr/Bfxr.

After compo I’ll port the game for Linux and Mac.

Concept – done!

I woke up an hour after the compo started, and spent the first hour thinking of possible interpretations of the theme. I ended up with an oilrig game – won’t tell more than that yet. ^_^

Here’s some work-in-progress of the oil rig:

… and let’s not forget nutrition, people! A pear-apple-banana smoothie!

Smoothie time!

I was just sitting around thinking about making a new game, then I thought “Hmm, when’s the next ludum dare?” I checked and it turned out it was in 10 minutes. Wow. I’m really pumped.

Yo Dogs

Yo dogs. I’m Curt. This is the engine I will use: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/795486/ld/ld29_engine.zip

In it for the Jam

This’ll be my second attempt, going to take PlayCanvas for a spin.

Was planning on going compo but won’t have enough free time this weekend.  Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

First Ludum Dare!

First ludum dare! Going to be using Unity and entering jam! Good luck to everyone!

First LD (I’m in)

So, going to try this, with the sole goal of actually finishing in time…

Tools:

Code environment: Eclipse with aptana plugin

Engine: Phaserjs.

Map editor: Tiled. (Solely because that outputs something that phaser can take as input)

Graphics – GIMP, touchpixels, drawing commands.

Sound – probably will leave this out entirely in order to finish.

Very, very simple LWJGL base code for Ludum Dare 29

Hey there,

Rules state that we have to publicly post any base code that we use for the game’s development before it starts. This is my first competition so I hope I’m posting this in the right location.

I doubt anyone else will find this useful, because it’s less than an hours worth of base code, with very little functionality.
