I am Groot.

It’s done.. phewf.

My entry is now submitted, you can see it here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=11137

I pretty much didn’t have any gameplay until 12 hours in (out of the 17 I spent in total), but I finally decided on the simple idea of “collecting memories” which I actually quite like.

Here’s a look, more screenshots at the main post:

*Print Screen doesn’t show cursor for some reason

To Do:

  • Finish Monster functionality
  • Add win/lose states
  • Add title screen
  • Improve graphics

Almost finished!

What a day. I decided to do a bit more for polish than content, but I think I am happy with the result. A bit of cleaning to do, but I am almost ready to submit my game.

Day two, Jam chaos.

I so hope we´ll find a better title before we hand this off to the glorious internet ghosts.

Here´s a screenshot for those of you unwilling or unable to run the unity web player.

We´ve moved away from the plane as a playing field, and instead went with the totally crazy plan to have the gameplay constrained to a sphere.
Its possible to connect the different planet chunks via harpoon, even though there are no gameplay reasons to do so… This… is a problem that we had hoped to have remedied by now. but life is life and at least we still got a day to go!

Day 3 make or break to turn this ´broken planet simulation´ into a ´broken planet game´.

Not sure really

After spending 6 hours and most of my energy on something that died and tried to kill me, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish the game in the Jam time, because of school the day after, so if I (by I, I mean we the team) manage to make a short version of the game that will be cool, but our focus is to make it really fun and awesome. Good luck all you LD’ers, may the odds ever me in your favour!

PhotoWorlds LD48 Solo progress

My entry for the solo competition is Photo Worlds. In PhotoWorlds you have to solve puzzles using a camera to reveal the true nature of the world in which you reside. Taking photos of the world will show you clues on solving the puzzle but you have a limited number of snapshots available per world.

I have the basic mechanic in place as of now (photographing objects in the world allow you to view an alternate texture when you look at the resulting photo). I’m not sure that I will have time to complete the puzzle aspect, unfortunately, but the process has been a lot of fun and I will be continuing development after the competition.

Getting there, eventually…

My idea was very ambitious for 48 hours. I’ll be lucky if I get it all done!

Is it bird, is it a game? No, it’s a GIF!

Video

Look! Gameplay!

I’m quite pleased, I’ve managed to write something that looks like a game in a day. It even looks like I did some art!

Progress!

Started off on one concept then abandoned it; wasted the first 14 hours or so, but the move was necessary. Worked extra hard, and now things are looking good! Just a few hours left, tracking down bugs and adding polish :)

Oh, and I’ve been streaming live on twitch the whole time. Drop by and say hi!

That’s it! Battle of Khe Sanh is finished!

GamePlay2

This is the story: “The Battle of Khe Sanh was a battle during the Vietnam War where the Khe Sanh Combat Base was surrounded by enemy forces. You’re the base’s logistics officer and the only one who’s connected to the outside world. Your mission is to keep the base alive until help arrives…

…if it arrives.”

This is my 2nd LD competition and a large improvement compared with the last one where I hadn’t read the rules. The game is actually a combination from my favorite games from the last competition (the logistics from the drug factory and the small people who had to run around on the island)

I’ve already submitted the game and you can find it here:

Even more progress!

COMBAT! ON MOTORCYCLES!!

I think I know now where to take this. Unfortunately I wont make it in time for the compo. Good thing there’s the jam, eh?

Planets rendering

It’s just adding gameplay, menus and sound now.

Playtestin’

So, we started some playtest of Warmaggeddon, our two players RTS on tablet/mobile, it works fine and I’m amazed by our pixel artist work for this Ludum Dare :3

Wip 4

And still more than 24 hours left 😀

How many levels?

Just a quick post to ask you guys, how many levels should I do? I’ve done nine and I think that’s OK but I don’t want to do too little or too many. Let me know in the comments please!

Well it is ludum dare and for ludum dare purposes we have to rate sooo many games. I’m sure 9 levels is fine but more is always better. It also depends on how easy or fast each level is passed. If it takes like 2 seconds, you’ll need like 100 but if it takes about 1 minute, 5 is great.

Hope that helps

8 hours left and I haven’t posted any progress :|

Wow already down to the last 8 hours of ludum dare 30. I’ve been doing pretty good in terms of time and things but I realized, I haven’t posted any updates yet. So here it is:

enough ships

I figured putting 100 ships for each team really made the difference to the game.

Alright well seriously, this is more of what my game looks like:

progress

I still have some art to do but I’m not very good at that so I’m holding it off until later.

So about the game,

Basically, you are one of the 4 colors, blue, yellow, green, or red, and you want to finish off the other teams. There are 2 important parts to this. 1. The other teams must die, from going into the sun or getting shot by those circle things. 2. You must take over the home planet, the circles with those hearts in them, by staying on their planet long enough that is first taken away from them, and then given to you. That’s the basic idea of this game and I’ll explain it more as it gets closer to the deadline/I submit my game.

Good luck to you all! 😀

100 ships per side? I support that kind of thinking.

Bloody social expectations.

I have to go and meet up with friends for some food and to watch Guardians of the galaxy now, but the games is mostly complete apart from the enemies of course, but its not like they’re that important in a space combat game right? Hopefully I can get them set up when I get back, I should still have a few hours left, otherwise I may have to make this a Jam entry.
