You go Todward, drink that juice!

I’m in :)

I’ll be using unity, photoshop /sai and, i havent even figured out how to make music yet, so, google and random music app if i even manage to finish 😉

Thanks Mike and helpers for all your hard work, and good luck to everyone!

I’m in.

This is my first Ludum Dare Jam, but it’s already exciting. Here’s a pixel art wallpaper with suggested themes tiles I made:

I will be using:

  • Unity3D – probably without any asset store content.
  • PyxelEdit – so far my favorite pixel-art editor.
  • FL Studio – I will try aiming for classic SoundBlaster/Adlib soundtrack.
  • Good luck everyone!

    PyxelEdit 4 life!

    I’m in and tired

This will be the first time I’ve taken part in Ludum Dare and I hope I will continue to take part in the many to come :)

I’m rather struck for time this weekend, so I’ll most likely be very tired and with my limited self-taught knowledge, I have not a clue whether my game will be good at all; either way, I’m happier to take part and fail epically than not take part at all 😉

    I plan on using:
    -Eclipse (With Java)
-QRDare A little library I’m writing to handle all of the back-end OpenGL and physics stuff; it uses LWJGL and is publicly available here: https://github.com/DigitalQR/QRDare
-Audacity and maybe FL studio I’m really bad so, I’ll probably just end up making sounds with my mouth and hoping it sounds OK 😛
-GIMP and MS Paint For all my newbie graphics needs
-Blender If I’m feeling adventurous or insane

    I’m in

Oh guys, I’m so excited! This is the first ludum dare (not counting the MiniLD I did last weekend), and 3rd gamejam in my lifetime :) I’ll do it probably alone, my artist friend won’t make it :/ Anyway, good luck for everyone!

    (Probably) used programms:

    Unity

    Blender / Gimp / Other 2d editor

Some sound programm that I don’t even have yet.

    Tentative In

I know I say this every time, but I’m tentatively in, pending theme.  I’m actually pretty busy trying to finish up another project, but if I have an idea to go with the theme, then I’ll participate like I have in the past.

48 hours, Preplanning, and Scope Creep

48 hours isn’t a lot of time.  Seriously.

This will be my 5th Ludum Dare, and looking back, all my attempts have been overly ambitious.  While there’s value in having room to grow the game afterwards, I’m taking some steps to mitigate the damage this time.

Ask a Game Dev recently wrote a post talking about Core Gameplay Loops.  While the discussion focused on progression, the idea also feels like a good starting place when it comes to architecting a game jam design.

    http://askagamedev.tumblr.com/post/101776602061/progression-or-skill-tree-systems-the-type-you

Frequently, I find my game ideas fall into higher level loops, and don’t have a strong base loop, or good feedback between the base loop and the higher level loops.  So, I’m starting there this time.  I can grow it upward post-compo, if it goes somewhere I like.

When we reach Round 5 for theme voting, I like to gather the voting data from the previous rounds and attempt to predict the outcome.  From there, I brainstorm potential ideas for the top 5-8 likely winners.  No code is written, no assets created.  I’m just getting past that hour of dead where I’m not prepared for the winning theme.

Meals and Sleep will be scheduled.  There will be an allowance for a couple breaks as needed, including dinner out Saturday Night, to clear my head.

That’s my plan.  Hopefully outlining it here is of use to someone.

    I’m in

    Obligatory “I’m in” post.

Will be using HaxeFlixel or Phaser if I decide to go down the 2d route, or Three.js if I decide on 3d.

Pixen for sprites, Blender for 3d models, Sublime Text for editing, SunVox or SonicPi for music if I get around to it.

    Looking forward to this.

    In we go!

LD30 was my first Ludum Dare and I had a lot of fun with it. Even though my project got hung up on a technical issue and didn’t make it to completion, I have high hopes for this round.

    I’ll be using:

Best of luck to everyone who’s participating!

    I’ll try to get in

    Hey!

It’s been some time. Actually, LD22 (2011) was the first and the last time I produced something halfway serious, even though it was far from being finished. For this weekend, I’d like once again to get all of my creativity together and make something great out of it. Unfortunately I’ve got tons of uni stuff to do, but I’ll definitely try to use all the time I can get for LD.

(Enough of that blah, nobody’s gonna care ayway.)

    Stuff I’ll be using:

    • Language: C++ or Java (whatever I feel like)
    • IDE: VS 2013 or Eclipse
    • Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET
    • Sound: Audacity, sfxr
    • Libraries: iunno…

Hope everybody is as motivated as I am right now! Have a good one!

I missed the last one, but this time I’m in

I missed LD30, so I couldn’t miss this one. I can’t wait to see what everyone makes. This time around I’ll be using:

    • Language: C#
    • Engine: Unity
    • Art: Pickle

    Obligatory obligatory “I’m In!” post.

    Hi all.

Gonna be entering this LD, mainly because I have nothing better to do this weekend.

    My loadout:

Language Java Image Editor Adobe Photoshop IDE Eclipse

I’ll most likely be doing the compo this time. I might be streaming it, but I’m not entirely certain yet.

    Good luck everybody!

    I’m in!

    Woo!

    Engine: GameMaker Studio
    Language: GML
    Art: Paint.net
    Sounds: as3sfxr
Music: Uncertain, will look into available tools

In for the Jam, possibly with friends

I’m planning on giving it a go again.  This is the first LD in awhile that I don’t have any set plans during the weekend, so why not?  I’m also trying to convince some friends to help out, making this a definite Jam entry.

    Tools?

Gimp is pretty likely, inkscape might make an appearance, as might blender.

Love2D perhaps, or maybe a web game will do better?  Who knows.

I’m in for the jam! (most likely)

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time nor inspiration to do something for LD30, but this time, I should be in…

    Tools of the trade:

Engine / Framework: Unity / Phaser (Or my game framework which automagically does networking (if I get a couple more features done and decide to go for multiplayer))

Graphics: Gimp / Inkscape / Blender

    Audio: Audacity, Zynewawe Podium

    I mad a wallpapper

I LIKE IT! I think it goes under the genre of “Mess”. However, this is good 😀

    In I am

for the last Ludum Dare of 2014.

My tools will be the same as every time.

    Platform: Web

    Graphics: Krita
    Sound: Audacity and maybe bfxr

[☃] Have a checklist (3 days before the compo)
[☃] Come up with an idea (basic idea 1 hour after LD started)

[☃] Implement the game (started 11 hours after theme announcement)
[☃] Add sound (simple bfxr sounds 8 hours before the end)
    [ ] Make it juicy
    [ ] Have a winning/losing condition
    [ ] Create a winning/losing screen
[ ] Create a menu for starting the game
[☃] Have a name (Shrunken Traveler, 15 hours before the end)

    [ ] Advertise the game
    [☃] Write a progress report
    [ ] Write a Post Mortem
[ ] Play and rate at least 100 games

Tried to do something for the MiniLD, but didn’t invest enough time and looked at dancing kittens all my prePURRration time instead.

    I’m in!

Excited for my second LD! Got in the top 100 last time, let’s see if I can do that again.
