I’m In!

Space Duck

My friend Sam and I recently made a game, Space Duck. You can play it here. But if that’s not enough, here’s a screenshot:

I’m in!

Hello everyone!

This is my first time in this compo, I’m going to try this alone, and I’m going to use:

Engine: Unity3d + c#
Graphics: Gimp and Blender.Audio: sfxr, my microphone, or any midi generator.

Ok, my first plan is:

  • In the first 1-2 hours I will make the first design draft.
  • Then I will sleep a little (I live in Spain and I will arrive home from job very late) and let the ideas settle down.
  • Then do what is designed. Graphics first, code later, then test and fix.

Good luck everyone!

“Graphics first, code later”, sounds dangeresque! I’m too afraid of my code failing to wait.

Hey!

I really want to take part but am not sure if time is going to allow me to.  I am going to make an attempt but it looks like I will only be able to spend maybe half of the time working if I’m lucky.

I will be using Unity/Gimp/Pyxel/BFXR and hopefully something for music as well if I can locate something before the start.

It’s Ludum Week! I’m in!

Alright, so the week of the Dare is here and I’m in!

I’ve participated in the past 4 Dares so this will be my 5th!

Last time I made this little game:

LD30_Header

Click to play the game on my website!

This time around, I’m excited to try and make something completely different.

I will be using Unity alongside Visual Studio 2013 for the programming side. For 2d stuff I will be using Photoshop and Pickle Editor, and for the 3D junk I’ll be using Blender. For sound, I’m not to sure what I’ll use. We’ll see. :)

Anyways, I’ll be trying to stream the whole thing to my twitch.tv channel, so check it out if you get the chance, I’m happy to have a chat. 😀

Well, Good luck and have a successful Ludum Dare all!

I’m back for the sixth time in a row.

I’m back for the sixth time – and I can barely wait!!!

So far, the last five dares have been fairly successful for me, since every single time I’ve managed to create a game that you could finish in one way or another- Not all of them received good ratings, but my success criteria is to deliver a game that can be finished.
I am especially proud of my last entry that scored #83 in the Fun(Jam) category- Which means that I have set the bar high for myself this time.

One problem I’ve had with most of my dares is that I spend a lot of time trying to get in as much content as possible, and even though I think it worked out on some occasions, I leave myself too little time to polish the game. So the goal for this dare is to go a bit smaller, and try to polish the game a bit more.

What Will I use?

  • Engine / API
    • Unity3D (C#)
    • XNA (C#)
    • Greenfoot (Java) (In case I spent too much time on getting an idea 😛 )
  • Graphics
    • Paint.NET
    • Blender (If 3D)
    • MakeHuman (If 3D)
    • Spine (If 2D)
  • Sound
    • Audacity
    • Myself
    • SFXR
    • SynthFont
    • CGMusic

I’m really looking forward to this dare and I can’t wait to play your games!

Good luck to you all – See you on the “battlefield!” :-)

Wallpaper Madness!

I’m absolutely joining this LD and to commemorate, I have prepared this wallpaper for you!

Love me some of that pixel art!

Mmm. Jam.

Not my first lap around the track; probably the first with a plan though :)

Tooling ultimately dependent on theme selection but likely involves some combination of:

And will almost certainly blow this budget but some things I’m going to try to limit:

  • Core: 1 hour
  • Mechanics: 5 hours
  • In-game UI: 1 hour
  • Non-game UI: 1 hour
  • Assets: 6 hours
  • Deployment: 2 hours
  • Website: 2 hours

Deployment targets will (likely) be limited to:

  • the Web (HTML5 or Unity® Web Player) and/or
  • Windows™ and/or
  • GNU/Linux and/or
  • Android™

G’Luck to all!

=D

My First LD

I have decided to participate in the upcoming LD! Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it last time, but I did take part in the latest Bacon GameJam. I was very excited, as this was my first jam. I think I aimed too low, causing the gameplay to be a little dull at times. However, I ended up finishing 9th with The Millionth Visitor.

Tools

Although I have not yet decided what exact tools I will be using, I probably won’t be using Unity again. It is a great tool, but I don’t really enjoy working in it. I will probably create a HTML5 canvas game in either Dart, Haxe or TypeScript (anything to get away from Javascript). As for the audio, I will have a go at composing my own music in AudioSauna and I will resort to BFXR when it comes to soundFX. If I have to draw any graphics (not my forté) I will stick to Paint.NET (or Photoshop if I’m looking for some specific effect).

[GMBR JAM 72h] TNT

— My comments: (Sorry, my english is a little bit.. Meh …) I made this game to enter in the GMBR JAM #1, it was very interesting to me, and of course it gave me experience that will help me in the next LudumDare, unfortunately I didn’t have time to work that much, I missed one day (the competition was in 72h) doing personal stuff. I did everything I could, actually, I’m happy with those results. I focused in the graphics and effects, so… the gameplay has some problems, for exemple, the game is very hard, but it still very funny to play. The Boss is very similar to those old style Bosses, it is funny, as you can see in the video. I hope you enjoy my game!

Wow that was a really fun game! Yes it was a bit difficult, but awesome job! I enjoyed it, very innovative!

I’m in… maybe.

I’m neck deep in Project Hex: GEO, but I might just have to take a break for some good ole LD..

If I do, it’ll be with these:
Construct 2
Spriter
Photoshop
Reason
Rip It 99-cent energy drinks — Orange.

Want Ludum Dare customized for you?

Cutis logo <– Cutis homepage on GitHub

Interested in customizing the look and feel of the Ludum Dare website? Check out this open-source re-skinning tool I built recently that I’m calling “Cutis” (latin for “skin”).

If you try it out and are interested in new features, or if you know some CSS and want to add a style, please let me know (either via GitHub issues or twitter @deathraygames), or just do a pull request in GitHub.

The animated gif below shows how the current version works. Thoughts?

Cutis-in-action

I’m joining!

This’ll be my first Ludum Dare ever, going to be in the LD31 jam!  Excited to join!

Tools I plan to use:

  • Unity3D for the main engine
  • Blender for models
  • GIMP and Inkscape for texturing
  • Audacity + SFXR for audio
  • Abundant Music at times
  • Caustic 3

The Season of the JAM

Hi

The voting period of #indiesvspewdiepie has just ended, and #LDJAM starts on Friday! This feels like an early Christmas: I’m taking a little time off work, and buckling down to explore and prototype some interesting things.

My #indiesvspewdiepie entry was a fast-paced arcade bullet-hell; quite a departure from my usual inclinations. It was quite a lot of fun to make: simple collision detection, bullet-time, score multipliers… and a procedural star-field! If you’re interested, head on down to GameJolt and check out Gunship Souls. The idea with that was to attack the Titan Souls giant boss formula, but in a twin-stick or shmuppy setting. It didn’t turn out that way, but as a minimalist score-running bullet-hell I think it does quite well for itself. I’ll be working more on that later, after #LDJAM of course.

I’ll be entering the 31st Ludum Dare JAM under the banner of ZNCatLaw, as I did for the 30th not so long ago. With me will ride @clangmuir and @nomoon, now in their 3rd LD. It is also possible we’ll have a special guest doing sound-design? I’m not sure how real that is ^o^// We won’t have an artist, so I imagine we’ll be “borrowing” assets from other parts of the space again. If you are unfamiliar with ZNCatLaw, you can cozy up to us by checking out our past LD entries (Super Plumber Bros and La Roue de Fortune) or by peering longingly at the as-yet-unpublished Rock/Opera.

I’m in!… i hope

I heard that my profile isn’t avaliebe if i don’t post anything, so here i go!

Tools:

-Paint.net (An advanced version of the old windows Paint with some Photoship Feature)

-Blender3d (I don’t have money for any advanced modelling software.)

-Bfxr (The sound-effect maker. there’s supposed to be a link in the Ludum Dare Tools website)
