Starting off in the Jam. My weapon of choice is Unity. Depending on time may bring out other toys to play. Plan to use Unity Asset Store goodies. Will try streaming… heh, we’ll see how that goes.
This is a new journey, I’ll enjoy everything happens here

Gah! I completely forgot that this Ludum Dare started so soon from now!
It also doesn’t really help that I’m going to miss the first couple hours, but oh well… I’m in and I’m playing the Unity card.
I’m in it for the Compo, with Unity Javascript/C#… they’re both the same to me.
This is gonna be fun on a bun!
If participating in the jam, do you have to actually declare base code? Its more or less the first time I may have personal base code, and I’m just wondering if I need to get it thrown up on my Dropbox or not… for it draws nearer… 😮
Thanks.
So I figured I’d start with a Hybrid Post Mortem that covers what I learned preparing for the upcoming Ludum Dare(3 Day Hype!) But to spare you the boring details I will add that to a read more section
For now my game for the MiniLD.
Puzzle Rings is a really basic puzzle game where you have to color a bunch of circles using only one swipe, and never lifting your finger. Its really basic and I hope anyone that tries it out at least finds it somewhat interesting.

For anyone who watches Game Dev streams on twitch, make sure to at least stop by and say Hi! I love chatting about things and if it weren’t for the people in the chat I would never have been able to do that 15 hour stream! Yikes! Anyway
I plan to stream the whole 48 hours of the compo(Which depending on completion may be 72 if I move into the jam) So check me out!

So what did I learn from my 15 hours with Puzzle Rings? Well Puzzle games are hard. Before Puzzle Rings I was also working on a strategy game(Pictured Below) both of these made me realize how complicated games that rely on logic more then just simple collision can get. Something that I didn’t do with either games, was plan ahead which was my downfall when trying to add features, my lack of proper data structures made the game hard to change once I got it “Working”
Things I also learned was more about clarity, though I thought at the time, the shape and design of my game’s object were fine, upon play-testing the game with friends showed that it was still super confusing at first glance. What pieces were in play and which ones were already done were so close that most of the time the players didn’t know where to start. It was a good lesson in visual clarity, and in hindsight I should have seen this.
Puzzle Rings will deffinitly get an overhaul before its done, both graphically and gameplay. I plan to add a few nasty tricks and extra challenge to the main game before its done. currently I feel it’s too easy once you know how to play. I will also be adding sounds and animations in addition to a huge change in graphics, to help telegraph how the game works. On the inside I plan to overhaul how the puzzles are made and stored to make it easier to add the earlier mentioned features like impassible walls.
I posted before but I feel like I should post this again since I wasn’t 100% sure I was in again.
Here is what I’ll be using. I said this was basically the same as my last LD but last LD I actually used Slick2D and though Slick is nice, I have mostly converted over to LibGDX at this point.
Anyway im exhausted and I bet you are tired of reading my crap, so anyway… See everyone this weekend!
Hey guys
Be ready to join our Moscow real world gathering for Ludum Dare 31!
This will be my first Ludum Dare.My biggest goal is to complete an online game.I`m gonna try my best.
Tools:
Engine: Cocos2d-JS
Language: JS
IDE: WebStorm
Good luck and have fun.
Same tools as last time, ie CoffeeScript. Likely not to be bothered with sound nor music.
Subject to lots of ifs, game concept will be “playable” at
Plenty of fun to all !

Ludum Dare just kinda snuck up on me this year. I’ll participate, probably using one of my frameworks as base code: https://github.com/64Mega/IndieBoy
Or, if I’m feeling particularly masochistic, I’ll throw one together during the comp.
Previously, I’ve exclusively used Game Maker to compete, but I’m getting somewhat tired of using it.
Good luck to everybody!
i wanna do it!

Greetings traveller,
Once again, we (@Thunraz and @Laguna_999, or see @runvs for just gamedev info) are in for another Ludum Dare Jam.
The Tools of trade have slightly changed. Since we had some great experience using haxeflixel, this will be our weapon of choice this time, without any pregenerated bunch of helper-classes or templates, since it comes with a great variety of useful functions and handy helpers.
Apart from that we will use Aseprite, Cubase, SFXR and of course version control (still to be decided, which one, though it doesn’t matter).
We will also be doing some timelapse videos, with SmartTimelapse.
Our (or at least my) aim is a little bit lower than with LD30. There we did WorldGate WG-1, which was really ambitious for the scope of LD (which is nice for “we completely overestimated what we could achieve” :D). Well, we did achieve a playable and probably also fun game, but it was a real crunch in the end and there are far too much things we would have wanted to see fixed in a LD-Version. Nevertheless it was fun and I would do it definitely again. But not this time (since for me university is kicking in really hard at the momemt) so let’s do some great game in a relaxed manner!
Best to all of you, happy dare-ing

Might be in if I get a good idea going for the theme, my last two attempts didn’t get finished for various reasons so if anything I’ll try and keep the scope as small as I’m able.
I’ll be using Unity once again, Photoshop for any art, and I don’t have any existing code or assets or anything like that, and I should be participating in the compo.
I have a bunch of ideas which may or may not fit into Ludum Dare. Most likely, I’ll do them anyway 😉
So, instead of good old Unity, I intend to use Visual Studio Express in C# mode with GTK+.
Which will, most likely, mean that it won’t have any sound. Hell, I’d be surprised if it’d be more than a tech demo!
Anyway, the game will be 2D, and while I’m not exactly sure what I’m gonna do, I want to do something with forms of ray- or path tracing in order to light up the walls; so instead of just drawing pixels, the tracing algorithms should draw the specific pixels it’s lit.
Dependent on theme, current mood and how well it goes, I’ll do something with light, colored light, or, as made famous by Team Fortress 2, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire.
Hi,
This’ll be my second time joining, this time I’ll make a Jam game with a friend of mine.
Tools we’ll be using:
Löve (Love2d) -An *awesome* 2d game engine
Notepad++
Graphics Gale / Photoshop / Gimp / All of those
Audacity
Some random musical instruments
My last attempt (alone) was, to be honest, pretty pathetic. This time around I want to make something that is actually *fun to play*. Also, since my friend is quite musical, has a good microphone and a selection of musical instruments lieing around his appartment, the game might actually *sound good* too
