LD32 April 17–20, 2015

I’m maybe a little in!

Hey Ludum darer’s

Due to a busy weekend and only getting to know that LD is this weekend at tueseday I’ll be in but mainly to practice new things :)

I’m going to be using Javascript / php (if I’m doing some multiplayer turnbased stuff or something?) and as little as posible libaries, to practice. this means it’ll probarly be a canvas game or text-based (with maybe some images or so, but I’m awful at art :))

I’ll be using:

Code: HTML, CSS, Javascript or PHP (Most likely javascript, I dislike PHP but it’s something I have to do for school).
Art: If I’m doing any, gimp, maybe some paint.net. OOHH If any graphic desingy people would like to do a JAM with me, that would be a cool experience :D! (Just comment if you’re interested and we can get in touch, I guess :D)Sound: Nothing planned, if I will I’ll probarly use www.bfxr.net.
Music:  Again, nothing planned. Maybe I’ll do some guitar stuffs and use the fruity loops demo a bit.
Bever-rage: Coffee! Maybe some monster energy too :)
Code-Editor: Sublime Text 3 (EMMET, Colorpicker and some self-made templates)

If nobody wants to do artsy stuff/programming with me, I’ll go enter the compo, if someone feel like doing  it with me, I’ll be in and we can jam together <3 (Ohh, great sentence…)

Everybody have a lot of fun, learn some stuff, make great games!
I can’t wait to create my game and play your games!

Rules question

Hello!

Looking forward to my first Ludum Dare!

I’m looking to take part in the 48-hour compo. In spite of the very clear rules, I just wanted to double-check something; I will be using middleware called Adventure Creator (a Unity plugin), which allows you to make an adventure game without a single line of code. In the rules, it states:

If you’re using a development tool without “code” (i.e. GameMaker), then as we see it, your “source code” is your project file.

However, I’m not sure how to interpret this; what ‘project file’ do I upload? If I were to upload the entire file for the project, it would contain all the middleware code, which I doubt I have permission to upload. There would be no original code of my own in it.

Does this mean I don’t need to upload anything other than the web player? If not, what exactly should I upload?

I apologies if this has already been covered.

Kind regards,

Big Cow

Upload whatever files are necessary for someone -who has unity with that plugin installed- to be able to edit the project like you would.

Thanks for your quick response, Papy; sorry to be a bother, but I’m still a bit unsure. If somebody had Unity and that plugin installed, they’d just need whatever art assets, animation and dialogue I write for the game in order to recreate and edit it. Does that mean that it would suffice to just upload those? I don’t want to upload the scripts as they’re all compiled behind-the-scenes by the plugin, so they’d be someone else’s IP.

I’m in for the first time…

…I hope. It’s kinda hard to be sure if I’ll be entering. I’m only comfortable in Puzzlescript and that’s not much (although I love it to death :D).  I also know a little Stencyl and Construct2, sooo… we’ll see :)

My advice: Enter. No matter what. Even if you get 3 hours to work on a game during the weekend, enter it. You stand nothing to lose and everything to gain :).

Test-driven development

Will anyone be doing it while LD?

I’d be absolutely astonished if anyone did. Game Jams are Debugger Driven Development for me. It’s quite liberating compared to the day job :)

I’m in again

This is going to be my fourth Ludum Dare in a row which I’m pretty happy about. Hopefully this time I won’t waste too much time coming up with an idea and can finish something that I’ll be happy with.

Learnt a lot each time from entering so looking forward to seeing how this one will go. Going to try and do Twitter updates through the whole process so that should be interesting. Also hoping to beat my past scores, although doubt I’ll be able to beat my graphic rank of #11 from the last one.

Good luck everyone.

I am in:

Tools

Unity3D

Inkscape , Graphics Gale , Paint.NET

Sounds from a mini library I have.

Good luck everyone 😀

I’m in for LD32

I was unable to do Ludum Dare last time, but I’m sure I can do it this week-end.

Here is what I’ll be using:

  • Language: HTML5 + JS
  • Editor: Brackets
  • Art: Gimp
  • Sound: Sfxr and LabChirp
  • Music: Sunvox or PixiTracker with Audacity
  • Library: None at all, freestyle this time

I am in

I am in, Using C#/ Xamarin / Mono

Target device Windows 7

Utilities – ..will add..

Graphics – paint

music – usually none 😀

sound effects – great little app called : bfxr (http://www.bfxr.net/) to produce sound effects

animations editor – own utilities … will add..

Spontaneously in at the last minute

Need a break from working on my game to keep the creative juices flowing.

Code: GameMaker Studio (all GML, no idea how to use the drag & drop lol)

Art: Photoshop and Spine if there’s time to get fancy

Music/SFX: Digging through Kevin MacLeod’s royalty-free incompetech.com music and the boopin’est sounds I can make in bxfr.net

Fuel: A fridge full of Monster Zero Ultra and the crippling fear of public failure and embarrassment that would no doubt lead to years of shame and guilt piling up, speeding my inevitable descent down a sinking merry-go-round of booze, strippers and self-loathing till I hit rock bottom, forced to beg you for spare change from my cardboard box on the street outside your apartment…I’ll be the one holding the cardboard sign with “I ENTERED LUDUM DARE AND DIDN’T FINISH MY GAME” scrawled across it.

Twitter: @BPOutlaws – I’ll be Tweeting my progress thru the weekend

Oh shi!

I’m in

Getting ready for my second round of LudUm Dare. Here’s my toolbelt:

* Engine – Html5 & Threee.js
* Models – Blender & Gimp
* Sound – http://www.bfxr.net/ & http://abundant-music.com/

Oh, the muchings I have learned! \o/

\o/

Happy Bartholemew

I have been adding stuff and I have learned much. The platformer is horribly, terribly broken (you can’t move the legless, happy triangle) and I don’t recommend trying it. The shooter doesn’t have enemies yet, but it DOES have shooting and moving. Collision with the walls still needs some tweaking, but I’ll get to that later. Neither has sound because I already figured out how to do sound.

Here’s a Windows build! (It should work on all the Windowses. I hope.)

I’m in!

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I had time to this, I’ve been working on making music for games, label releases and the anime SEX and VIOLENCE with MACHSPEED by Studio TRIGGER  (Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia). This Jam I’ll be making music and SFX this time again as part of a team I love working with, using FL Studio as my DAW and the following hardware synthesizers:

  • Roland SH-201
  • Novation XioSynth
  • Korg Monotron

Have fun everyone, I know I will.

I’m in!

I’m in! After being unable to participate in LD31, I’m hoping to get a lot out of this one. Such as, you know, a working game.

Engine: Unity 5 (or Phaser, possibly)
Editor: Unity 5 (obviously) and Visual Studio 2013 or Sublime Text 3
Art: Paint.NET, FireAlpaca, GraphicsGale, Krita, Inkscape, the GIMP (I have a very…special…workflow)
Audio: SFXR/BFXR, PXTone, Musagi, Audacity, Sunvox, ToneMatrix/iNudge
Other: yED and Google Docs/Spreadsheets for planning

I’ll also hopefully be tweeting my progress: https://twitter.com/cdrchdev

Obligatory “I’m in!”-Post

I’m in once again, 4th time for me!

Not much has changed in terms of engine/language/editors, my Engine got fancier, but thats about it.

Language of choice: C++

Libraries:

  • SFML graphics/sound/windows/input/…
  • box2d physics
  • my own Engine/Wrapper

Toolchain:

  • MSVC behind Ninja behind CMake
  • Visual Studio for debugging (GNU on windows is too painful to debug :/)

IDEs/Editors:

  • Netbeans, main IDE
  • Notepad++ as generic editor
  • Paint.net for anything graphics/images
  • bsfxr for sounds (if i get to it)

My goals for this time are sounds and not wasting as much time on dumb issues 😀

We’ll see how that goes

I’m In

Hi folks, I’m in for the 4th time, hoping to improve a little bit from the other entries. I’ll use this time:

  • Code::Blocks
  • gcc/g++
  • Gimp
  • Sfxr
  • Audacity
  • Otomata (maybe)
  • Punk-o-matic (if the idea fits)
  • Linux
  • MinGW for cross compiling Windows binaries.

As the base code, I’m struggling between the base code used for my last entry (Fish Goes Fishing), or Chien2D, a lib for games I did sometime ago and I’m moving towards SDL2. The SDL2 port is not exactly public, but I may end up getting the early alpha into git Hub just to fit in the rules. After all, nothing is better to push a game library than making a game with it :).

Crossing fingers for an awesome theme that I can get a cool idea quickly tomorrow night :).

In again

I’ll have only about 30 hours but I’m still gonna try.

Unity with C#, Blender, Inkscape and some other stuff.

This time I’m gonna try to play something on piano for music.

We’ll see.

Wish me luck.

I’m In for the Second Time

This will be the second Ludum Dare comepetition that I participate in. I did Ludum Dare 30 and I did the 72 hour challenge and at the time I was 11 years old, now I have 12 and more experience. Last Ludum Dare, my team quit on me and I ended up  having to restart from scratch with only 11 hours left and then my computer had a burning rubber smell so I was forced to not use it for a few hours. I ended up finishing the game in 7 hours. I hope this competition goes better for me but I am extremely excited!

  • Unity3D
  • Blender
  • C# w/ MonoDevelop
  • Intuit Tablet w/ Gimp

I’m in!

I’m in for the compo.

Finally accepted the inevitable, this will be my first attempt at producing something with unity3d instead of getting bogged down in engine choices. I will probably be using sfxr and sunvox if I get the time for audio, as well as GIMP/inkscape.

Cool! I’m also using Inkscape for vector art and sfxr for sound effects. Good luck!

I’m so in, it hurts.

Long time listener, first time In.

Engine: Unity

Graphics: graphicsGale.

I wish everybody, their best effort, and the best of luck!
