LD35 April 15–18, 2016

I’m in Again and Gratuitous Desk Shot

This is my fourth, tools being Unity (2D or 3D depending on what happens) Paint.Net and a Guitar. And my FARKING AWESOME DESK!

Ma Desk!

Yeah, I’m proud of my desk. And making a fourth complete (hopefully less buggy) game.

I’m In!

Well, this is going to be my very first LD, and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful games this community creates, and to see mine in there with them.

Engine: Unity

Music: BFXR; Various instruments

Art: Paint.NET

Models: Blender

I’m in!

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare!

Using Unity3d, Inkscape, Gimp, & hopefully Audacity (but probably sfxr)

LD35: I’m (probably) in

I’m intending to compete in the compo this time around.

I’ll probably be making a simple game in C with SDL for Linux and Windows (maybe also ported to JS with Emscripten if I can get that to work).

This’ll be the first LD I enter. I’ve taken part in similar competitions in the past but I’m a bit rusty, so don’t have high expectations :)

If I don’t get anything decent done by submission time I might go for the Jam instead, or maybe just pretend the whole thing never happened… But it’s the taking part that counts right?

I’m also considering streaming the process on Twitch and/or creating a timelapse,  not certain yet.

I’m in! 3D!

I’m in for my 4th Ludum Dare! Hopefully I will also be submitting my first 3D game for the compo (and hopefully it will have better graphics than my previous entries :)). I usually stick to 2D, but ever since I found out about LD coming up again a little over a week and a half ago (woops, I forgot about it for  a while) 3D game development has had my full, undivided attention. Let’s see if I can make this work!

My tools:

  • Programming Language: Java
  • Library: LWJGL
  • Graphics: Photoshop CS6
  • Audio: Audacity + ??? (I never know what to do for audio/music!)
  • Other: My hands, brain, and lack of sleep

Like I said I’ve been playing around with 3D recently, yet there’s so much more to learn! It’s interesting to that I could learn and so little time! And of course I am far too stubborn to use a game-engine, so it’s definitely a lot to figure out but it’s interesting to learn about at the same time.

wooowooo

Alright I’m committed to jamming this time even if the theme is terrible. I’ll be using unity probably.

Chicago reporting in

Myself and my esteemed colleague Dain will be joining this most excellent Ludum Dare.  I’ll be teching and Dain will be story-writing.  Chosen utensils include:

  • PhaserJS
  • Google docs for story writing and sharing
  • Our mouths and my ukulele for music composition and sound effects
  • A camera for art

Our entry will be posted here: https://github.com/dvcolgan/ludumdare35

Should be a party!

I’m in!

Ready to drink lots of water!

I’m in!

This is my first LD so I’m both excited and anxious. I’ll probably be using Unity and Clip Studio Paint/Photoshop, but I have no idea what I’ll do about music/sound.

Happy jamming!

In again!

Seventh time running and looking forwards to getting started! I’ll be using my usual setup of Unity with Visual Studio as my engine/IDE combo, Beepbox and/or Chiptone for SFX/Music with a mixture of Paint.NET and Gimp for all my graphics needs.

Best of luck to everybody – can’t wait to see what you make!

good luck!

So in.

Hello world,

I’m joining in for the second time in a row for this insane competition, maybe starting out a bit less ambitiously this time around…

Sadly my main computer is sick, so I’ll be running this show through my BF’s laptop.
I’m running Unity, Blender, Photoshop, and Mixcraft if I can get my hands on it again…

Can’t wait for this dare’s theme reveal!

Need to declare my Text Adventure Game Engine

Just open sourced and uploaded my text adventure game engine (Beta) to GitHub so I can use it as the framework for a text adventure type of game should I need to go that way this time.

My Base Code for LD 35

Once again I will be using my base code that I have built up since LD 26. It is written in JavaScript and can be used to create HTML5/canvas games. You can find the base code on github: https://github.com/ZYXer-/base-code-2d

Features:
– a simple game loop
– mouse/keyboard input processing
– image/sound preloading

Additional classes for:
– playing sounds (using SoundManager2)
– loading and displaying PNG fonts
– particle systems
– pathfinding (using A*)
– image processing class to generate 8-bit style graphics

Since the last compo I have added fontface preloading, a utility function for parallax backgrounds and a countdown function.

I’m distributing the code under the GPL2 license, so feel free to use any part of it for your own project. And please – like always – report any bugs 😉

I’m in!

Doing a solo submission this LD. I have to work a bit during one of the days, and if I can’t think of any ideas I might just use the time to work on a prototype I have. Also super excited about the possibility of getting a game dev job. Fingers crossed on that. Anyways, Excitement!
Oh, and I’ll go ahead and post Bob Marley’s Jammin’ as I always do.
