Blue Moon!

Blue Moon Screenshot 01

I just finished my second ever Ludum Dare game, Blue Moon.

The objective is to collect all the hidden gems in the world while avoiding the evil Hunters.

Using the 1, 2, and 3 keys you can switch between a wolf, a shark and a bird.

Please check it out here and give me your feedback :)

2nd day, must hurry up!

Ok, a fair amount has happened since the end of day 1- unfortunately it’s nothing extraordinary and the whole shapeshift concept hasn’t even been implemented yet! That’ll be next on my list…

If you’ve read any of my previous posts, I’m attempting to balance out LD and final exam revision, and it’s going OK (albeit not as well as it could be…)

Anyway, here’s some screenshots of the progress!

screeny3

Ok, I’ve added hat items (you can now wear radiation helmets). The idea is that the helmets protect you from radiation, however the helmet will eventually break. When it’s broken, any radiation that comes in contact with your head will decrease your “irradiation” bar- the blue bar on the left of the HUD.

screeny4

I’ve also added hand items- the idea here is that you will pick up the yellow radiation case to carry your plutonium in. When you equip the case in your hand, another slot appears on the HUD to show if you’re carrying plutonium or not, as can be seen in the image.

Also, you can just pick up the plutonium, however doing so will continuously irradiate you if your helmet isn’t equipped- so to be safe, try and carry it in the case!  I’ll probably add a timer or some to pressure the player into finishing the level quickly so there’s actually a better meaning to the case.

And, the little block in the room in the top left is the reactor- touching it with plutonium equipped will take you to the next level.

What’s that? “Where’s the shapeshifting?”, yeah… I’m coming on to that. Slowly…

First Ludum dare ;)

First time entering this gamejam, and I’ve made some decent progress in the past day.

My game is basically a very simple 2d action game, requiring different weapons to kill different enemies.

Got levels loading up, collision detection working and have the character playable. Now to actually implement shapeshifting and some enemies.

Hopefully i’ll be able to finish this game, art looks bleh but manageable.

Good luck to everyone!

Can I enter the compo with this?

Hi, I’m using Unity and found this script: http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?title=Triangulator

Can I use it and still enter the compo? I asked in IRC but some people gave me different answers.

Thanks.

Yeah, as long as the code was available to everyone taking part before the competition started, it’s allowed.

Day 1 Progress

We’ve managed to create our game world on the first day and are currently deep in the gameplay coding. Personally I am looking forward to filling this bad boy with story about hunting down group of shape-shifters (ups spoiler alert). Some coding slowdowns happened down on the road but so far nothing catastrophic. Good luck to everyone else.
LD35 - day 1 - progress

Day 1 Progress

Hi everyone!

We took a little break last night to finally get some sleep, but we’re getting ready to get right back to work this morning. I wanted to share a little bit about our project for #LD35 (so far).

Our currently untitled game is a peculiar mix of point-and-click adventure and top down stealth.

We’re doing a mix of different art styles, though we’re definitely proud of our absurdly cute characters.

Awwwwwwwww

We’ll hopefully be back later with some GIF’s showing the gameplay, but for now it’s back to work! :)

So, we have a level design!

It is getting difficult to finish this project, but we still have one day.

The team is working full time and things are working pretty well!

Take a look at our level design for one of the stages.

Greetings from Brazil!

Leaving, but finishing the game.

Hi, unfortunately, I won’t be finishing up my game in time to enter for this Ludum Dare Jam this year. When starting this I expected it to be shorter and more simple than I made it, but it looks like I’ll have to spend a little more time on it. I will be continuing the game, but not showing it off to the LD Jam this year. Maybe next year I will join! But for now, I’m gonna drop out. I’m excited to finish this game but I want to do it at my own pace and polish it and make it all pretty. Hope you guys enjoy it when I’m done, but I’m gonna drop out for now, good luck to everyone still in the competition.

Now I ain’t even sure if I’ll be able to complete a game, this is the third time I’m starting from scratch. Wish me luck.

Good luck man!

But don’t throw away the other two ideas, maybe outside of a Jam, with no time limit they can turn into really good games!

Progress Report + Enemy Sprite Sheet

The game is going well. Still not really sure what I’ll call it, but I have pretty much finished all but one of the mechanics as well as all but one of the SFX. I just need to add a sort of story and a bunch more levels!

So here’s a sprite sheet of my enemies:

Enemy

As you can see, they are very blobby and drippy and also the sound effect that plays when one sees you has a distorted sound clip of me making a slurpy noise in it. So that’s fun.

I like blobby things, they remind me of Ditto, from Pokémon, and that means it can shapeshift into anything!

Good luck man, very nice art, indeed! 😀
