Hi guys!

I’m done with my game and I’ve also uploaded it on other sites. Anyway, I can’t make the timelapse video so I’ll show you some images instead:

Done already? D:

This game currently lacks any interactivity.

About 30 minutes of progress. I’m making one of those games where you’re always running, and you can only jump and duck, because I’ve always wanted to.

Late entry

Well, when I got home, I decided the heck with it, drew up some plans, told everyone to stay off the computer, and I’m entering….

Manned Flight

Well, it’s begun. Spent four hours in a coach yesterday to get myself down to Cambridge, but it’s definitely feeling worth it hanging out with the rest of the LD’ers down here. We’ve got ten people at the moment, furiously tapping away, complaining about Unity obscurities, taking this piss out of Visual Studio and talking though game ideas. It’s pretty great 😀

Wasn’t overly impressed with the theme when I woke up, it’s not so much that I think the theme is bad, more that I couldn’t think of anything I wanted to do for it. I’ve settled on an idea now though, it might not be perfect, but it should do.

Burnt a good couple of hours working on physicsy things, I always feel a bit twitchy about doing that sort of thing, but it seems to be coming together okay so far. Now I just need to, y’know, make a game >_<

Homemade pizza time

And now a late lunch of some garlic and coriander naan pizzas :) while trying to get these paths working properly still :)

Yummy! Looks tasty :9

You must discover you (First Screenshot)

This is me working in the game  (thinking what the hell i am doing).

And this is a screenshot from my game.

Remember you are one of this people. Don’t kill them.

I will go to lunch with my grandmother, and I will come back! I wish finish today.

Greetings!

First steps (finally)

This is my first LD, and honestly I’m not doing so well. But even so, I got a demo!

It’s a simple platform game. You need to find things that’ll help you discover who are you and what’s going on. Right now you just walk, jump and collect stuff.

Download demo: Here

Move with arrow keys.

Sunday Morning Update: The demo has been updated. It’s so much better now. Please check it out! :)
By the way, there’s an item (colors) which is quite difficult to reach, but it is possible.

Currently untitled

I’m working with the idea of self-discovery.

Yes, my character sprites are utterly terrible.

I had a cinnamon bun for breakfast but was unable to take a picture.

Lunch time!

The game is progressing nicely. It’s no game yet though. You can choose any star system, any planet in there and drive around on the surface with a rover. And find ore. It’s starting to be a game any time now :)

Progress update (+ 2am baking)

My LD housemate made custard tarts (in the left of the picture), so there were a couple of egg whites left over… voila, my first ever try at meringues. I don’t hold high hopes, but I’m going to need the sugar hit even if they don’t turn out awesome quality… (I have to be up at 3:30 to turn off the oven, so that should hopefully keep me going too…)
In other news, I now have a complete game, i.e. it all works. There’s still a metric ton of art and bits and bobs to add on before it’s fun and looks good, but for now, here’s a screenshot…

How did the meringue turn out? I tried making it once when I had leftover egg whites, the outside was good, but the inside was mostly hollow with a marsh-mellowy consistency.

I have reached a milestone.

You can jump and duck! Hurrah!

Yeah, that’s all I really have. Next up is letting you progress to more levels, and general fanciness. Currently, losing just restarts the level instead of exploding into gooey goodness.

Progress

So, I’ve now got “portal keys” working. If there are portal keys present in the map, the portals that are on the map will not activate until all of the keys have been collected.

Once the keys have been collected, we can return to the portal and goto…

Somewhere in space? Hmmmm, I wonder where this could lead to… 😀

Progress update.

I just noticed that this is my first post on LD :)
I’d go to bed (UTC+8) now and continue on this tomorrow. Hope I can finish this in the end.
Good luck everybody!

How was your experience with Sprite.JS ?

Day the Second

OK, been up for an hour or so. I’ve got tiling and scrolling working properly. This seems to be a terribly modest accomplishment compared to others, but then I AM a newbie at this. It will be embarrassing though if the extent of my game is the ability to move around a map. Although I just thought of a way to at least make it fit the theme…

Anyway, here’s what I got, placeholder tiles and all. They’re just there to help be gauge the scrolling, which of course you can’t see. Right now it’s keyboard driven, but will have mouse, too. The displayable area is calculated based on the dimensions of the current browser window. At some point I’ll want to make it re-calculate when the window is resized.

Tiling and pixel-based scrolling in HTML canvas

General plans:

  • Take a shower and think through the actual game mechanics.
  • Dry off and put on some proper clothes.
  • Create some quick sprites and implement placeable objects.
  • Get a main character animating as the screen moves around.
  • Implement collision code.
  • Eat some food and post some food pics that don’t look disgusting.

That should bring me to early afternoon at which point I may need to run out and pick up some supplies. I’m thinking about making my tiles and sprites by photographing objects made from construction paper. Should be odd if I can pull it off. If not there’s always Paint.net :)

saturday update, or oh crap its 1pm

Oh well, just wake up now … anyway during the wedding party, on Hard Rock Rio that was playing music from the 70s, I just check the theme and started some background thread to think about it …

Only regular stuff come up, quests, hidden objects in the scenario, find places… Then suddenly while drinking my mango juice, its not orange it’s mango trust me, came an very very agressive idea ! hide and seek multiplayer !! 😛

I know that is too much ! I know that probably I wont finish it, but I like the idea 😛 and put together my desire of explore Unity and localization of characters together !!

I hope the little bear from the keynote help me !

Making progress, and I’m late

Well the basic engine seems to work quite nice right now (you can’t kill enemies though). The game seems to turn out not-so-innovative

Here’s a screenshot, I’m not sure are these graphics actually final.

Now some syncing with music…

I feel awesome.

Just getting started at the local cafe. Everyone is tapping away on their cute little macs, and I just busted out my ridiculous giant fucking gaming laptop, complete with brick plug, mouse and headphones. Let’s do this.

First game screenshot.

Here is the first steps in the game. Now you just can go and reveal the map, but it’s empty.
You already can try it here:http://www.planetnana.co.il/vladp//. I will update it some times.
The game by now.

Works fine in Chrome 8 on Vista. But why does my head look like an egg! 😉
