Phaser generators

Ugh! Every time I sit down to write a game in Phaser there are about fifty new 'generators' that have been released and I end up spending hours trying to decide which is best to use!!

Finished day one

I don't think I'll get to finish this thing, but it's gone well so far. I just have so much work to do inbetween, however I'd still be happy to release my game as a fun experiment if I don't manage to get it finished.

No screenies yet because I don't have a lot of time, and I haven't given myself enough time to get used to this new site yet (however I must say it looks great!).

Good night everyone, and good luck to those who are still working! :)

Captains Log 003

It is now 6:37pm and we have made some decent progress with our game. We have movement and power-ups pretty much done as well as most of the models we need. We are in the progress of working on UI and other gameplay features. Overall things are coming along well and we should finish in time.

Restless - DAY 1

I chose to ignore the Small World theme almost completely. I've already done that 5 years ago when the Tiny World theme was selected for the 10th anniversary of LD, and even back then it was a pretty meh theme.

So, this time I'm going to simply make a game that I want to make, that might or might not tie in with my old LD series.

Thus far I made a whole bunch of asset and the starting part of the map. I will still need to make a bunch of animations and there is no proper gameplay in sight. I'm getting a bit nervous, but at least I have a solid foot into the project with all the characters available.

I don't think I can do a lot more today, I will likely catch some Zs and come back tomorrow to figure out the rest.

Day one - a hard first day for first timers

It ain't easy for the first timers, especially when they're not designers and totally not programmers by profession.

We've started the day scrambling for ideas, concepts and the primary guideline was to do something that would fit in concept of Earth Day which marked the first day of LD38. Either showing the good or the bad side of human influence on the world.

Once we had the general idea what we wanted to do, we did have to scale down on it because we knew that we could not achieve everything in our free time over this weekend. Thus we decided to go with the world scroller game which puts player in the role of Entity in charge of keeping humanity (in the cities) alive by managing resources provided by farms and rivers.

Day one was concluded with working prototype of spinning world and resource consumption being implemented and we're looking forward to tomorrow where the major tasks still await.

Here is a short glimpse of today's event.

Feel like droppin dead

Not dead yet! But it's close :D time to rest a bit. Hope something playable comes out of this: http://i.imgur.com/Bbmw3T5.gifv Keep it up everyone!

Day one in space

So the best outcome I could have wished for has happened so far. I have something that I have made, that works (to completion) and I don't hate as of yet. Running on less than 3 hours sleep since Thursday night, and I feel good about this. Now it's time to crash.

So in my slumber, look at all that space - http://pic.twitter.com/V3tLSWotFv

Day 1 is over

We have made good progress today! Tmrw we will focus on creating more levels and contents. Core game idea is done.

No. 38. I'm in!

A little late to the party (started about 10am GMT, 8 hours after the theme was announced, but who's counting?), but hoping to make something at least slightly cool, although with less than one tutorials worth of experience in Unity, and using it for a group project with someone with even less experience, I'm hoping to just have a working game :p Catch me on twitch.tv/zoa84 if you wanna watch (while I'm not sleeping or eating :D )

End of DAY 1

Things are beginning to take shape... Good night!

First day, first dare.

Man, I did not expect to be doing this today. I woke up, played some Prop hunt and then when my friends left I was bored. Saw that LD started on twitter and jumped on because... well why not?

I also decided to stream it for the first time, great fun and thanks to everyone that came in. The game I'm making is called A Bigger Home. You fly your spaceship, enter a mini planet, raid the mini world then escape with resources. You then go to your mini homeplanet and enlarge it with the stuff you raided. Had great progress today and the basic game is done, going to polish it a bit tomorrow and we can check off "done a Ludum Dare".

Super basic gameplay

I'm so giddy right now because I can feel the game happening! Here's a very prototypy video of flight and damage and what not

https://youtu.be/1Qh4pF7Dehk

So, if it's not clear from my programmer art and prototype level design (because I doubt it is clear) this is supposed to be a toy fighter jet, like the kind you might get with a set of army men. It shoots little blaster bolts you'd find from action figures with some sort of shooty gun. The level is going to be a back yard, so I have some sorta grass.

I'm so excited because this means the basic gameplay is there! Now most of the work is AI and game logic!

No, really, I can't do it.

The best way to describe it is http://ludumdare.com/compo/2016/12/11/writers-block/ Mixed with inability

Well...

I'm really busy. I'll be having booth on convention next weekend and I'm not prepared yet. I wasn't planning on participating. But I saw the theme and I cannot resist. I'll be making small game in GameMaker: Studio 1.4. 2D Circular word with destructible terrain. Self made water physics. and Worms style gameplay mixed with... golf? All I need right now is some pun in game name!

1st day end

Few animations and textures, but it looks good :) http://prntscr.com/ezoa42

Big day

I can't believe it, but our proof of concept this morning worked, and we're going to be making a music-based game. It feels way above my head, but it's starting to come together. Time to crunch through asset making and fun making. And also adding a player character...
