We officially stop development. For now. We simply ran out of time and had to stop.

What we learned:

We learned this the hard way. We just planned too much content and then we didn't manage to implement all of it, leaving us with a game that screams "unfinished" in every corner. Our goal next time will be to focus on simple, yet fun gameplay.

This is also something important. We kind of worked on everything when we felt like it, leaving everything partly finished.

Just... don't stay up for 50 hours straight. It doesn't work.

We are going to upload the unfinished version to the jam. Keep in mind that it had almost three times as much content planned. Overall, it was a great project with alot of fun, we just ran out of time :smile:

for ludum dare 38, my friend and i created a world painting toy in gamemaker:studio! they made the objects and backgrounds, and i made the UI, all the code, and the music!

After 2 Compos I finally decided to do a jam - and the kind and talented damagefilter was insane enough to join me. 68 hours and 95 commits later we are finally done with our little creation Small Worlds - Universe Balancing Bureau and we couldn't be happier!

SMANT WORLD is a beautifully placeholdered 48h game about the life of a Queen ant during a happy expedition in a tree full of little berries.

I noticed a terrible issue with the controls. I've fixed it now and will reupload the game shortly. Glad I decided to build eary :')

So we are almost complete, last things we gotta do is add the menus, a sound and some descriptions and it should be all good to go. I will discuss more in the post mortem, but its quite a short game, as a number of the puzzles were cut. This game won't die after the Jam, though, so keep watching for updates.

Due to continued lack of time for this LD my game has too much left to do for it to be in a releasable state before the end, so I've decided to call it a day. There is always next time!
