Looks like our asteroid tower defense thing won't be submitted. We bit off more than we could chew with this one and ran out of motivation before the end. Usually a successful game jam project will have a tipping point where you realise the game is coming together and is actually fun and cool. Unfortunately this moment never came for us, since it took too long to get the basics working.
Also, don't do 2D isometric games for a game jam, they're too much of pain to both draw and code.

RIP for now 'Assault on Deimos'. Perhaps we'll finish it off later, I spent too long drawing that asteroid to waste it.

Sorry about that little snag, the game is now playable again!

So, I still have lots to do and probably won't be able to finish on time, but I'll keep on working...
Here is what I got so far:

I wish I knew how to embed these gifs... Anyway!
The character shoots and shields and jumps and double jumps! Yey!
This is our final entry for LD38, lots of fun, lots of work, very tired, but we are very happy with the result! There are a lot of bugs and we could not implement final boss and many other mechanics, but that was worth it! Hope you like DR. Enjoy this shit!

It's released into the wild! :)

Those who knew
what was going on here
must make way for
those who know little.
And less than little.
And finally as little as nothing.
In the grass that has overgrown
causes and effects,
someone must be stretched out
blade of grass in his mouth
gazing at the clouds.

We want to try to represent two spaces or "worlds" within the interaction of the video game;
The first one is the world of the "text"; If we get a text (like the fiction), the text can create a small world (space) in which the player can play, transform, or compose the words in the same time, to create some new texts, like the stream of consciousness.
The second one is about the world of the hero or protagonist himself in the video game. The tasks we make, the difficult levels that we can figure it out, this fictional world, which means nothings for us, but everything for the protagonist; The game world is belonged to the protagonist or the player? The interaction between the player's subjectivity and the avatar of the Text, which has a interesting force in it.
"Who's the author? " Asked by Michel Foucault.
“Who's the player?” Asking by us.

Worked on a lot since the last post so I figured I'd upload a quick post. @cayleblucas worked on our amazing UI:

I also finished making the enemies... They now wander around aimlessly, chase and attack the player. You can kill them with your pickaxe too.
[ X ] Combat system
[ X ] Mining system
[ X ] Crafting system
[ X ] A small world
We're almost there, hoping to upload within the next hour... Just testing and setting everything up!

After two weekend days and one after work afternoon our team is finally done... It was a great experience to participate on our first LD JAM and we're looking forward to next one
And here it is!

I have finally finished. How I managed to make a game with an illness, school work and exams crammed in between I will never know. I am not completely happy with the game itself. Not all of the gameplay elements that I wanted were implemented and there are more than a few bugs. But hey, that's Ludum Dare right?
Due to the fact that it is late and I have school tomorrow, I had to rush a quick description, but I will update it asap. If you want to check out my project (I am going to refrain from calling it a game), you can check it out at: https://pixelformedstudios.itch.io/a-very-small-planet or at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$16019

Using those final hours to try and get some sort of polish. AAaaaaa

I completed my first Ludum Dare project on time and it works  - good luck everyone
After 3 days of hard work my second LD-Game is finished. Can´t wit to get your feedback!

This is a top-down fast-paced puzzle game with a bit of a story arc. You’re a guy trying to avoid the evergrowing darkness and complete each level / part of life as fast as possible.
Ok so here is my group’s entry for LD38. I originally started with another friend who had to bail out after we had modeled all 3d assets for the game. Infuriated, I decided I’m gonna make a game on my own then. Changing from Unity to GameMaker, I figured out my skills would be adequate enough to create something. I found out later that I’d need some help from my brothers and decided I’m gonna replace the old friends with my bros as my new team members. The soundscape is the only part of the game that we did not create ourselves. Everything is credited according to CC rules in the credits though. I digressed from the theme a bit, but I still claim the game is about a small world, since the world of the protagonist is shrinking step by step and he’s fighting against that change.
