LD20 April 29–May 2, 2011

About to start

Five minutes away…

Warming up my text editor…

Battle Station!

Just got back from work in the nick of time…here we go.

Time to throw my hat in this ring

Can’t believe it’s already time for another Ludum Dare. Going full steam for the competition and not the jam!

CODE AND TOOLS
* The always-awesome Flashpunk library
* FlashDevelop for my coding needs
* My own library of useful things (grab it here)
* Sfxr for da sounds

Going to be taking screencaps, posting regularly, using Twitter (follow @drinkycode), and posting for #ScreenshotSaturday. Let’s do this thing!

Good luck to all!

Ready to go, engine almost ready to use – but nevermind I will have to finish it up during the compo. It’s located over here on github: http://github.com/neilogd/Psybrus

Anyways I’m going to quickly eat breakfast and get ready to make a game! Good luck everyone!

Let’s do this thing!

My first Ludum Dare, hoorah!

The tool’s I’ll be using:

  • FlashPunk (for Engine), FlashPunk for the IDE
  • GraphicsGale/Paint.net/GIMP for graphics stuff
  • as3fxr & Audacity  for sound stuff
  • Ogmo Editor for stages.

Still deciding if I’m doing the Jam or comp, I guess it’ll depend on how well I’m going come 48hrs.  Bring it and good luck everybody :)

First Ludum Dare

I’ll be making the game using Gamemaker 7, sfxr/bfxr/GoldWave for sound effects, and GraphicsGale/MSPaint for graphics. There most likely will be no music :(
I will stream all my work on JTV at http://www.justin.tv/metaknight3000

Sydney University LD20 team ready and waiting

There’s 5 of us here at Sydney Uni, and we’ll be doing LD20 in groups of 2 or 3. I’m working with a partner, and we’ll be using Flash, including libraries Box2D, Flint and TweenMax.

yeah we’re doing the jam.

In

Here’s my basecode: https://sites.google.com/site/ludumdarebob/basecode.zip

It’s just some GLFW initialization stuff and font rendering with a framerate-decoupled main loop skeleton.

Here’s the plan:

– Start programming in raw C++/OpenGL with almost no basecode because I’m so hardcore

– Spend 48 hours working on game engine code from scratch

– Decide to do the jam instead because I haven’t started the game part yet

– Rush out a crappy game with no sound or music

I think I can do it! 😀

Bay Area Post-Mortem Meetup?

I know there are a few of us LDers in 510 and 408 – should we try to have some sort of celebration/commiseration event somewhere Sunday evening? Dave and Buster’s of Milpitas leaps to mind but anywhere we can get pizza and video games and/or wifi will work nicely…

I’d totally be down if there is a way to make the location easily accessible to public transport, and hopefully a bit closer to Oakland/SF.

Let’s do this!

Here we goOOoOOOooo!!!!

Strange theme. Actually anything could be done with this.

…Well, I’ve got to grab some sleep, it’s 4AM here.

Does this really count as an idea?

I don’t know, but I’m going to make

It’s dangerous to go alone, take this: the girl game.

I know I would. That stuff is TASTY!

Woot! I like that theme!

Now all I need to do is think of an idea, program it, create graphics, create audio, upload it, and perhaps blog ’bout it.

Instead of Complaining About the Theme

… I’m going to twist it and turn it until it suits my personal fancy.

48 HOURS LEFT

AND I’M GONNA GO WASTE PART OF IT CUZ I GOTTA FOLD MAH CLOTHES

IT DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS FABRIC SOFTENER!
