LD 40 December 1–4, 2017

I'm in!

Hello!

This is my second time (last time i didn't submit) but... I'm so hyped! I will try to make graphics and sound by myself... Which can be funny, becuse i can't draw cool looking stickman :D My tools (probably) will be: - Arch linux - Godot - And maybe C++, instead of GdScript, because why not try something new? :)

Also, i may use one of this for graphics: - Aseprite - Gimp - Blender

I totaly don't know what i will use for sound, but you guys posted some cool looking programs for that, so i will probably try one of them! :) Ok, so for little WarmUp i will try to make some graphics! Good luck guys!

My Base Code for LD 40

Once again I will be using my base code that I have built up since LD 26. It is written in JavaScript and can be used to create HTML5/canvas games. You can find the base code on github: https://github.com/ZYXer-/base-code-2d

Features: - a simple game loop - mouse/keyboard input processing - image/sound/webfont preloading - dealing with different screen resolutions

Additional classes for: - playing sounds (using SoundManager2) - loading and displaying PNG fonts - particle systems - pathfinding (using A*) - image processing class to generate 8-bit style graphics - utility functions for procedural map generation - simple one-body physics - a text class that is way more powerful than fillText() - scaling to easily display pixelart at various screen resolutions

Since the last compo, I have made a few bug fixes and added a few small features.

I’m distributing the code under the GPL2 license, so feel free to use any part of it for your own project. And please – like always – report any bugs ;)

First LD: hype and panic // Primer LD: expectativa y pánico

[English]

Hi everybody! I'm Oscar, a Colombian developer. This is my first LD ever, and the hype is killing me. Anyway, for those curious, I plan to use the following tools for the jam:

  • Game engine: Unity. If something goes really wrong with it, I may use GameMaker as backup.
  • Graphics: Pyxel Edit or Inkscape. I'll do a 2D game.
  • SFX: jfxr or similar tools.
  • Music: Rytmik Ultimate, Bosca Ceoil, Beepbox or cgMusic, depending on my panic levels (creating music is my main weakness right now).
  • Edition and others: Audacity, Photoshop.

I'll do my best to create a good Compo entry. However, depending on the results after 48 hours, I may consider switching to the Jam to be able to improve my entry with third-party created assets. We'll see.

Anyone else from Colombia, South America or other Spanish-speaking places participating?

  • SFX: jfxr o herramientas similares.

FIRST LUDUM DARE!

EXCITED AF! Will be using, Piskel MagicaVoxel Unity3D

We're in!

This time we'll participate as a team of 3 - two artists and a programmer. Yay!

We're in!

Some of us have gone solo before, but this time, we're a team! We've got the amazing @Aphid98 to do most of our Unity coding. This will be his second Ludum Dare, but his first in a team. @NorthernFlicker75 hasn't participated in an LD before, so I'm excited so see what he can do! He will take care of most of the art so we don't have to use lame programmer art. I'll be behind the scenes designing the game, sketching concept art, and coding as well. I might try my luck with some pixel art, and I will make any audio we use for the game. It'll be my fifth time in the jam, but the first time with a team. We'll be using Unity as an engine, with Piskel for art and Garageband and sfxr for audio. Here are our goals: - Don't aim too low. We have a team this time, so we should be able to get a lot more done. I want to have features that couldn't be implemented in time, so that we aren't trying to perfect the game. I've made some really bad games as an individual, and I have been done within 36 hours, leaving 12 to test and test and test something that really isn't that good. - Keep difficulty in check. I have always made LD games that are way too difficult, with barely any learning curve. I make the games to challenge me, not others! So I want a game that will still be fun to play for everyone. - Most importantly, have fun!

I'm Afraid.

Previously I have participated in some game jams, but this will be my first Ludum Dare... I don't know if I will be able to complete the game...

We are in!

Going to be using Godot in a team this time!

We're In!

Bladed CyTech is in again. The lightweight rookies in this corner! I believe this is our third LD, and each one we do, we get better at our craft. I can't wait to see what comes of this one!

Our tool list is simple, but we are trying Unity for the first time this time. Before is was always GameMaker Studio. Wish us luck!

I'm in, I suppose?

Forgot to make this post earlier, but whatever.
LD39 didn't go well for me due to being busy once again with other stuff.

Hopefully the same won't happen again. But it will.

Probably using the following:
* XNA for the game framework * GIMP for quickly made graphics * Probably other things if needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hope I can get something done, even if a small prototype!

We're finally in!

Hi, everyone! Right from the heart of Siberia we (@komnotmr, @dolorosso and I) are in for the 40th Ludum Dare! I bet it will be 500% more fun then the last time I participated because we're heading to local real life Ludum Dare-related event!

Possibly our tools will be:

  • vim for code, because it's awesome;
  • phaser as a simple cross-platform engine;
  • sunvox for music and sounds (or maybe beepbox);
  • gimp for graphics.

Good luck! Let's make some games! :video_game:

I'm in!

This will be my fourth year participating in Ludum Dare. This time around I'm going to be working on a web-based game, and probably something involving AR. I've been practicing my 3D math and want to use LD as a way to increase my familiarity with WebGL outside of three.js, so things are going to get experimental. Here's my toolkit:

Languages: JavaScript, HTML, CSS Libraries: glmatrix, VueJS (the ES6 boilerplate), webgl-obj-loader, tracking.js, webGazer.js, CCapture.js Visuals and sounds: Audacity, MagicaVoxel, Photoshop, Blender

I'll be posting updates on Twitter(@hypothete) and plan on doing a writeup of my process afterwards. Good luck to everyone!
