Ludum Exam

Greetings everyone,

My name is Dusan (Dušan), I'm from Serbia and I'm gonna tell you how I got here as short as possible, since it's my first Ludum, wanted to introduce myself. Friend motivated me to start learning about cryptocurrencies (beginning of January), I dived into that area and start realizing that I know so little about computers and how they actually work so I decided to take a step back and start from beggining (in short). I wanted to get a feel for code (like really simple stuff, HTML/CSS), web programming sounded fun (at the time, I had some browser games in mind, little did I know) so I dived into that (CodeAcademy, YouTube community I salute you!). I wanted to see a wee bit of everything, basics (to advanced): HTML/CSS/SASS, JavaScript, SQL, PYTHON. Execution of this plan could go better but what's done is done (only in terms of laziness). Fast forward, I remembered my friend who started learning UNREAL engine, he also told me to check out PYTHON, but I knew that was C++ and I didn't wanna go down that path at the beginning. Fast forward, YouTube search lead me to BRACKEY'S (wonderful channel, now, I might add BLACKTHORNPROD, recently discovered, quality learning channel) video "How to create a video game". After watching that I knew I wanted to try Unity (by making Cubethon). So on July 28th I made my first lesson/project "3D Physics", following the amazing UDEMY tutorial(/tutorials, you need to look everywhere, I used that "modular" approach for learning and it's great, might seem overwhelming at first, but all that data makes sense really soon, as you keep on learning and most importantly - CODE, which I kinda failed to do, or at least I could've done it more) which lead me to a next course and more youtube videos. Heard about LUDUM also via Brackey's and I kinda saw a good opportunity to check my progress. That's why EXAM in the title. This is a great event and a great way to test yourself and get your name out there in time. This is an amazing journey, learning about game development and I think I finally found my calling. :)

Best of luck!

P.S. I graduated from Faculty of organizational science, Quality management and Standardization, so no programming background at all. And I'm 28.

P.P.S. Team: my friend (learned C++ for Unreal, game dev. begginer, so we are not compatible as engine goes but we'll make it work) and me, so it will be fun. Also, I learned GIMP at basic level, BLENDER and BOSCA CEOIL for music. Gotta catch 'em all. All (at least I will try) studying references will be linked when we finish this project (hopefully). Cheers!

42 - Life, The Universe and Everything

So I just noticed it's LD42 - The Ultimate number! That might be totally from my cultural context, but looking on Wikipedia at the number 42, it's got a huge number of correlations to culture, history, mathmatics blah blah blah

Anyway: Since it's LD 42, Y'all might be as interested as me to read about the number https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42_(number)

And anyone making a game, who put's an easter egg or some nod to the number 42, let me know so I can check your game out!

link-ga.me

Hey! I've create a little tool to share easly the different link of your game. All the information are store into the URL. You can add link to Itchio, Newgrounds, Gamejolt, Steam, Armor Games, Google Play, App Store, Github and Ludum Dare. When you add a link to Ludum Dare, you can enable a banner on the top of the page to display the game are made for the LDJam.

When it's finish, you just have to generate a link at the bottom of the page and share this link!

Bare the Dare

We're just under the eight hour clock and I am ready to Bare the Dare!

Every Ludum Dare I make a terrible game that never quite gets finished, and I will not disappoint, this time will not be any different! I shall bring the worst, terribly unfinished game I can!

I'll be using the Godot Engine, once again, with a slightly better understanding of it than the last Ludum Dare-- but, just barely.

Come and join us!

Here is the discord server: https://discord.gg/GnZ4ZN

Unity|C# Programmer Looking for Group

Hi! I am a UnityC# Game Programmer from Brazil, looking for a group in this LD42!
My abilities: UI, AI, game mechanics, Photoshop, Git, C++, Data Structures, Design Patterns (not only Singletons), Visual Studio.

It will be my first jam, but I have some good programming experience! I don't mind joining a novice team, but I would like to stick with Unity/C# for this challenge. I am not planning to go crazy this time, I just want to offer any help and have some fun and meet some intelligent people!
I speak English and Portuguese!

See some work at my Portfolio

Looking for art

We're still looking for a 2D or 3D artist to help us out, if anyone's looking for a group. We have a programmer, designer, UI artist, and composer. We've done a ton of game jams and are willing to work with people with no experience.

I'm In :D

I'm an embedded programmer (just me) who got bored and decided to enter something. :) I'm going to make a top down RTS with a hexagon grid, dunno what it will have in it but that all I have decided (theme be kind).

Will be using the following: - Own Engine - SDL2 - Gorilla Audio - FreeImage - Inkscape - Paint.NET - Audacity

Plan B: - SDL2 entirely - Drastically simplify game
