Waiting is hard...
Waiting is hard...
(some work from my past jams)
I'm going to be streaming my 4th consecutive Ludum Dare! If you'd like a stream to chill at while you work, I'll be drawing all kinds of quirky pixel art. It will be fun!
Stream: https://www.twitch.tv/lumpytouch Twitter: https://twitter.com/LumpyTouch
First time doing one solo and using UE4,(got 3 previous jams under my belt, but with a coder friend using Unity).
My aim is not to make pretty stuff (I'm an artist) but to make stuff work and expand my knowledge of Bluepints and game making.
And here is my Battlestation for the weekend

Also I will be streaming the over on twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/angelofdeath1000
I'm in.
Wishing you all the best of mental capabilities!
Hopefully this time I'm in. I missed a couple of LD lately and I am still too scared to do this one.
Let's hope the theme is somewhat okay and I feel like doing it.
Nervously waiting for the theme now... <.<
This is my first Ludum Dare, but I've been in one game jam before. I've participated in the Global Game Jam 2018. I learned how to create git repositories just for Ludum Dare. I will be using the following for my game development:
I have been working on my engine for a while, and it makes OpenGL and OpenAL extraordinarily easy to use. I will be using my engine for this Ludum Dare 42. I will also be developing it further, alongside the game.
I'm In. Although I've yet to decide which game engine I will decide using this time
Pretty happy I finished my game last Ludum Dare so I'm back for more!
I will be using:
Engine: Phaser 3
Graphics: Affinity Designer
Sound: Bfxr
Hoping for a good theme. Good luck everyone!
This is going to be my first ludum dare.
I wont be using an engine but I will use the SFML library. Good luck everyone!
I really think the theme should have been the meaning of life.
And my physics/collision response/resolving kinda works! It would suck to use my time on collision so im hoping on finishing before i go to bed (its evening for me now). Anyway already made an im in post so not doing that again. Good luck to everyone!
Done some last minute learning of Affinity Designer. Ain't gonna make anything too pretty, but I think I can generate some sprites that are not god awful now and, what's most important, mine. Now, animating characters... Thaaat's going to be a different story.
So, what's your opinion? What's better for a newcomer to graphics throw themselves in, some in Unity tool like Anima2D or go out with Spriter Pro?
I just realized I've barely done research about GarageBand in the meantime. Gaah. This game jam is going to be a clusterfuck.
I know I can just go out and get some assets - but I want to make fully my own game, even if it means not making a really good end product by the end of the jam. I'm comfortable with just sending the game with placeholders if it comes down to it, really.
It's been too long since I've actually sat down and made a game from scratch. Am I taking too many unknowns? Probably. I've barely ever made 2D games, I've never done graphics, and I've certainly never scratched music.
Still, let's go. Let's have a good one. :)
i left it somewhere arround..
please tell me if you happen 2 find it. thjx
Don't know what kind of time I'll get during the weekend, but I'll be participating and will also likely record some footage and edit for YouTube/Twitch.
Very likely to use Unity this time. Previous projects have involved JavaScript, Unity, and the XNA Framework. I've been around a while!
I run a shoptalk blog at CodeWritePlay.com where I talk about game dev and this is where we host the #GameDev Breakdown Podcast. Good luck everyone!
Just started learning programming so this will be fun! Haxe with HaxeFlixel Asesprite and Tiled Bosca Ceoil Visual Studio Code On a Mac xD
T - 60 MINUTES PEOPLE
In the intrest of saving time let me just say now (before the theme announcement), that I hate this theme...
Again to save time, let me say I'm starting to come around to it. After all some of my favorite work was on game made for theme I was not crazy about.
I'll be working with @solifuge and @naali this time around, and this will be my 17th Ludum Dare event!!!

My goals for Ludum Dare 42 are: * Make a game with (original) audio (Sound Effects and Music -- since my last 5 games had no Audio ranking). * Make a less original game (stressing about the uniqueness of my past games has caused them to suffer in other areas, I'd like to make a fun game this time, and hope the uniqueness comes out of the process, but is not the focus). * Have a game that could be finished (but needs polish) as soon as possible, ideally by Sunday night (in the past our Jam entries have pushed the time limit, and never recieved any proper playtesting -- I would like to fix that).

and we're gonna kick some ass
GL and have fun everyone !!
