LD 42 August 10–13, 2018

First Time!

I'm trying this game jam thing for the first time ever this weekend. Too bad SpriteKit doesn't export to web and windows, it's the perfect engine for building something quickly, I guess Unity will have to do for me. Pretty excited to put something together though.

First time, so excited

First time developing for a game jam!!! Working together with my little brother (physicaly taller than me :3). I hope we will build something playable.

Language: Kotlin Library: libGDX Remaining points: Still looking :3

Living dangerously !!!

I'm I the only one who will be using a game engine and tools I barely know ? :D If you're like me, say Hi.

Also, I don't know any of you, but I love you all. 56 minutes to go.

I cant believe im going to miss it!

this is my first time hearing about it and being ready until i realized i am going to be gone for the whole weekend :( (im still probably going to make a game around the theme anyways)

I'm in

Obligatory post is obligatory :joy:

Not sure what tools I'll be rocking this time, I'm hoping to do something in Rust but have no clue on the engines. Possibly will revert to LibGDX or Unity depending on what I end up with.

I'm in!

:sunglasses: Once again and I'm very excited!! But first I gotta go to bed, though :bed: . Stupid time zones...

Prelude

Probably In

Looks like I only will have one day to code due to my younger daughter starting at school, but if the theme will be sth to go with I would be happy to give it a try. The last LD I participated was number 26, so I'm a little rusted anyway. Still pondering about using my established pygame toolchain or giving Godot a go, with almost zero experience.

Soon it begins

Second Ludum Dare

It has been over 2 years since I last participated in LD (uni exams and compo always line up). I didn't finish my first compo cause I spent most of my time creating 3d modeling and uv mapping. Also ended the compo very sick from a lack of sleep.

Lesson learned: Keep the game as simple as possible. And sleep.

This time I will be using: - Love 2D - Gimp - RedBull (Sugar Free)

I'm in, also got distracted when trying to learn a new engine.

I kind of wanted to try learning/using Phaser or Godot this time around but before I got really anywhere in figuring out how to use either of them during this week I ended up making a sort of one handed keyboard layout with most of the important symbols are easily accessible.

So far it looks something like this(yur being qaz normally) ```

= ! ? ← ⏎ < > / \ @ y ö ä e h { } $ § ¤ u a o i j [ ] _ *

r s v l f ( ) - +

and holding space will get these € ' " & ^ ~ ¨ 『 』 ※ n k p t z 7 8 9 「 〇 m g b d x 4 5 6 」 ∎ | q w c , . 1 2 3 0 ≈ ```

It's still not finished and anyway won't be using it just yet since no time to get really used to it though doing some typing practice with it felt promising. Anyway since I didn't end up actually figuring out enough about either Phaser or Godot I'll just stick to using Construct 2 this time.
