Going to attempt it to participate again for this LD. Last LD my computer decided to die on me and was unable to finish.

What I will be using for the jam: Engine: Unity Graphics: Photoshop for alot, Maya if I decide to go 3D, and substance painter if the 3D concept sticks Audio: Audacity plus a ton of other random programs I have installed.

Good luck to everyone!

For the second time in a row, I'll be making a game during this LD :)

Not sure yet if I'll have a team or do it alone, others are still undecided.

After my game is ready, I'll be streaming as much other games I can on https://www.twitch.tv/togislp like last time. I will announce my streams here and on https://twitter.com/TogisLp so if you want me to test your games, feel free to follow and join us ^^

Toolset I'll be using:

  • Unity
  • Visual Studio 2017
  • Photoshop / Paint.net / Piskel
  • bxfr / cgmusic / openMPT (if I have the time)

Good luck and have fun to everyone!

I'm in, pending life of course

I am in for this weekend, though I'm also in the middle of a release at work. Hopefully it is a quiet weekend and I can work on Ludum Dare all weekend. Anyways I will be using these tools:

  • Unity
  • Blender
  • Photoshop
  • Various proc gen music and sound tools (cgmusic :notes:, bfxr :space_invader:, etc.)

This time I want to take on a smaller scope game and polish it heavily. In the past I've gone for fully featured games (why did I attempt a city builder that one time?) and while most of the time I have finished the game, it ended up with me exhausted and the game super buggy.

And to everyone else out there: Good luck, have fun and learn a lot!

Wow I actually had no idea it was this close to starting. I just randomly visited the site to see when the next jam is, and lo and behold, here it is!

Huge respect for you, Mike Kasprzak!

Just wanted to say that I am extremely grateful for all the hard work you put down with this site/community and these events.
On top of that I want to say that I really appreciate the new approach with the transparency of the work on the new site and all of the "behind the scenes".
I think this is appreciated by most of us, so keep up the good work and don't forget that you are awesome!

From me, Brorawr Studios and most likely most of this community, Thank you.

Using Unity, Lightwave, Sceelix... Whatever else will help.

I'm In!

I'm in for my second Ludum Dare. I'll probably just do something in regular JS like last time, although I might decide to use Unity if I get an idea that needs it.

Unofficial LD Character

Someone mentionned making a character that represents the contest on a blog post so we can include a reference to the event (like an easter egg).

I liked the idea, so I made my own rendition. Meet the Dare Girl. dare girl.png Feel free to use, reuse, modify or derivate from the image as you need. If you do, could you tell me so I can play your game

Welcome to Ludum Dare 39!

Hi everyone, and welcome to Ludum Dare 39!

Final Round Theme Voting has started. Go over here and cast your vote:

:ballot_box: /events/ludum-dare/39/theme

For rules and other info, visit the event page:

:trophy: /events/ludum-dare/39

For those new to Ludum Dare, it's very common (almost tradition) that website goes down during the minutes leading up to the Theme Announcement, so we highly recommend you follow our Twitter account:

https://twitter.com/ludumdare

The theme will be announced when the clock at the top this page reaches zero.

Goals of Ludum Dare 39

For Ludum Dare 39 we're running a plain ordinary event here on the new website. Some folks felt last event was too rough, so I wanted to run just a simple clean event without as many hiccups. I also overdid it, pushing myself too far last time, so I need a chill-out event.

There's numerous bugs still lingering. If you see something odd, feel free to report it:

https://github.com/ludumdare/ludumdare/issues

We're trying to fix things as we find them.

Speaking of bugs, some of you may notice that when you login, it doesn't log you in. This is unfortunately due to a fix for a different bug that appears to have revealed a new problem. Oops!

If you're having problems logging in, it means your web browser is ignoring our login cookie. If you whitelist the following cookie domains, it should work.

https://api.ludumdare.com https://api.ldjam.com

I'll be doing a bit of maintenance later tonight. Right now the website is using first URL for the API, but I'll be switching it back to the 2nd. I hope that fixes things outright, but I'm pretty sure some folks will still have issues.

Getting this problem fixed is one of the big priorities for next time (Solution is to set up a Load Balancing server and a Comodo certificate, 'cause CloudFlare and Lets Encrypt aren't perfect enough). I totally agree having to whitelist a domain for cookies is uncool.

Keynote, hosted by Noah Ratcliff @nratcliff

Keynoting Ludum Dare 39 is Noah Ratcliff. Noah has a pretty great streak going, having submitted a game in every event since Ludum Dare 25, which was 5 years ago! Wow!

Definitely an expert when it comes Ludum Daring.

That's it for now. Stay tuned! Go vote! It's time again for Ludum Dare!

We're In!

Me and 3 other friends are going to be participating in the Jam together. Good luck everyone!

Tools we'll be using:

-Unity

-Blender

-Audacity

I'm In

3rd LD for me - 3rd time's a charm hopefully. Hope to restrain myself on scope this time and manage something a bit more polished, maybe try to pour in a less insane amount of hours, but who knows, its so much fun its hard not to. Also hope to finish in time for the compo

Tools: * Unity or possibly Phaser, Visual Studio * Aseprite or maybe Blender if I go 3D (but that already sounds like a terrible idea for keeping down scope) * Reaper or maybe try something new for music (once again probably a bad idea), probably bfxr for sfx * SourceTree and bitbucket for source control

A Shockingly unoriginal tool collection, but there you go.

See you all on the other side.

I'm in-ish for the spinach.

I am moving into new apartment in a few hours and won't have internet, so... I don't know how this will go, but I'm gonna try to participate again. Most likely my now-standard combination of basic JS and MS Paint/GIMP. Good luck, everyone!

Let's do this, I'm in!

Took part in the last LD and ran into an issue with managing the scope of the game, but this time I'm going to go in with that in mind and make what I can! I'll be using: Unity for my engine Blender or MagicaVoxel for models (if I decide to do something with models) Photoshop for textures and/or sprites Audacity, my mic, and my wonderful vocal chords for some sound effects Gl;hf

I'm In!

Will be using Typescript and PIXI.js.

My personal goals for LD39

The jam is always a great opportunity to grow as a game dev, so I set myself some additional goals this time: 1. Get out of your comfort zone! 2. Make something weird! 3. Use an uncommon setting! (see #1 & #2) 4. Create something unsellable! (see all of the above)

As always, I'll record a lot of video footage of how I fare. Good luck, everyone!
