Im In...
My first ludum dare. Good luck everyone!
My first ludum dare. Good luck everyone!
(personal opinion begins) ...theme democracy sucks. I keep seeing the least exciting themes swim up to finals. Feel free to disagree but I'm starting to think LD may have attracted a lot of people who don't understand LD spirit, and who are upvoting themes which will improve their chances of "winning" rather than ones which will challenge them as game designers. Worst themes fall into two categories: 1) themes which define genre or gameplay more than they should, 2) themes which are seen to often in commercial published games. Best themes are the ones which are just an idea, a word or two or a sentence not related to gameplay.
Also, did you ever had a feeling that there might be such a thing as "Ludum Dare theme mafia", groups of developers&friends who organize into upvoting themes which will suit them rather than ones which will challenge them? Call me paranoid, I would agree. Anyway, good luck everyone and have fun on this upcoming LD.
Yup, I guess I'll be joining my first LD jam. Using GameMaker: Studio and GIMP, FLStudio if needed for sound. Good luck to everyone who is in!
...or will try to. The time zone difference make attending the even a bit difficult since it start early morning Saturday my time, and I work on Sunday.
Last LD I attended (and my first one) was 34, in which I tried sinking my teeth into Unity. This time I'm going to other way and attempting to use a codeless development environment - Stencyl - in order to focus more on gameplay and less on actual coding.
I've a vague idea for what I aim to achieve, but will have to wait and see what theme get selected.
Cheers!
Time for my second Ludum Dare! I got 9th place in humor for the compo last time around, I'm not expecting I'll be able to repeat anything like that this time. Especially considering I'm trying a new engine this time, so I'm gonna have to learn an engine and make a game at the same time this time around.
But no matter, Ludum Dare isn't about "winning" to me, so I've no doubt this will be a great experience :)

Do you remember our LD38 game -- Protolife? It was cute and small:

We decided to complete it. Thanks for all comments and feedback -- the best motivation.
And now it is almost a full-featured game:

Just following a tradition.
I need to speed up if i want to finish the engine i'll be using.

I often end up out of town on LD weekends, but I have absolutely nothing going on this weekend, so I'm doin' it! * Unity 5/Visual Studio * Blender * MagicaVoxel * PyxelEdit * LMMS/Beepbox/Bosca Ceoil * sfxr * audition/photoshop * OBS Studio
Remember: take breaks, get some exercise, eat some apricots (if you like apricots (I do))
First time joining a Ludum Dare! This is going to be exciting! :D
For anyone interested - the toolset I'm going to use: - Game Maker Studio 2 - Aseprite - beepbox (or FamiTracker if time allows) - sfxr
The development will be livestreamed @ Twitch.tv (twitch.tv/herrdekay). I'll also try to update the devblog during LD as often as possible. Due to the unfortunate timing for Europe though (the jam will start at 3am in the morning for me), I'm probably going to be kinda short on time. We'll see how it goes!
If I'm actually able to finish my game, I'll also try to release the GMS2 source after the LDJam deadline.
Also looking forward to playing all the other entries! :D
In and looking forward to this. My last entry was the first LD I did "just for me". I didn't try to create something that other people would enjoy, just an experience that meant something to me. This time I think I may try half and half to see how I go. I didn't push or vote much on my last jam as I was incredibly busy around that time. Hopefully get more of a chance this time. Here is my last entry - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/genesis-planet-kit
Looking to better that one :)
Usual tools Unreal 4 Photoshop Audacity BFXR Space tea and minimal sleep breaks.
See you all in the Jam!
So I've got some stuff to do this weekend which is going to get in the way of valuable Ludum Dare time. That said, I can't just not do it...
Who needs 48 hours anyway, by my count I've got a good... 16? Let's see what I can do...
First Ludum Dare! I hope it will work quite fine... :) Good luck to all of you!!
my first ludum dare game jam, and my second game jam ever!
i'm not in here to place the best, i'm here for the challenge and experience with some tight deadlines.
(it might not help that i also joined a game jam that starts the day after ludum dare ends.)
using: * gamemaker studio 2 * bfxr (se) * aseprite / photoshop / pyxeledit (not decided)
Not fully committed yet, but I am looking to try to make something. I am going to be building the game in Rust using glutin & gfx-rs. I plan to pull some common components and systems from my in progress game: https://github.com/agmcleod/agile_archer. Such as transforms, animation, etc.
I'm also doing a little something this time! My weapons of choice will be: - Pyxel Edit - sfxr - beepbox - PhaserJS
Really excited to see what everybody's gonna make. Have fun everyone! c:
Also, if I'm getting stuff done, I'll post it on my blog over at http://necodos.de
