LD 39 July 28–31, 2017

I'm in!

I'm in! This is my 3rd or 4th Ludum Dare... Not really sure, I jam a lot! (...and LD accounts were all reset it seems?)

Development Tools

Programming Language: C/C++

Framework: !ARK2D (my own personal set of libs)

Graphics: Photoshop CC 2017, maybe upscaled with !xbrzscale algorithm

Audio: bfxr & Reaper with c64 samples.

IDE: Sublime Text, if that counts.

Check out my last 2 (not Ludum Dare) jam games...

  • The Butterfly Effect: http://forceofhab.it/_files/games/the-butterfly-effect/1/
  • SWAT Analysis: http://forceofhab.it/_files/games/swat-analysis/

Good luck everybody!

My first Ludum Dare!

Also first jam ever

Weapons: Godot2, Aseprite / MagicaVoxel, FlStudio, SublimeText

glhf!

Good luck everyone!

I entered ludum dare once or twice a few years back. Haven't got the time for quite a while (or i just forgot about it :b). I'm back this time with greater experience under my belt!

I used to use unity3d. I see lots of unity and ue4 participants. For this ld, I'm going for a different approach. React will be my tool of choice :). Along with npm, I'm confident that the efficiency is not less than other game engines.

Good luck, have fun!

LD39: in

i'm in for this one. some ideas i've been tossing around this week that i'd like to try out. should be fun. :]

softwares/things: - Unity3D - Visual Studio - Photoshop CC - Blender, if i do anything 3D - Audacity - Might break out the MS-20 and/or SH-101 emus - Asana - some base code for ANNs in Unity: https://github.com/Blueteak/Unity-Neural-Network

I'm in!!!!

This would be the 2nd time (for my team) joining Ludum Dare.

List of stuff I'm going to use this time: -Engine + IDE: Unity & Microsoft Visual Studio -Language: C# -Art/Graphics: Photoshop & Medibang paint -Music: ??? (i have no idea seriously)

Goals: going to get out of my comfort zone and make something I've never did before. Hopefully I could learn something new and level up my skills.

Good luck everyone! :D

I'm in, good night !

This is the 3rd time I'll be joining the party, because it's the most amazing thing ever (^-')b

Tools I'll use : - Code : Haxe with Haxeflixel on Haxedevelop. - Mapping : Tiled. - 2d 'art' : Pyxel Edit, Krita, MSPaint, Gimp. - Soundzzz : Audacity. - Music : Well... I have no idea, some beatboxing maybe ? - Coffee : Freshly grounded with some hazelnuts, Mochaccino, with cream and 5 ice cubes. Apply to programmer 2/3 times a day

See you in 8 hours, after a nice rest o/

First time!

Hello there Ludum Dare veterans and newcomers!

As many others, this will be my first Ludum Dare too. Looking forward for the next 72 hours, it'll be a very fun experience!

  • Engine: Unity3D
  • Code editor: Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Graphics: Gravit Designer
  • Sound: Uhm...

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Ludum Dare is this weekend? AGH! I'm in

Seriously, I didn't know Ludum Dare was this weekend xD Well, what a lovely surprise... I'm in!

Hello everybody)

I will participate in LD 39 using HaxeFlixel, Krita and LMMS) And maybe I'll use Blender and UE4))))

I'm in. And ready to go!

In for my ninth event in a row, eight of which I've used TurtleBrains for, a cross-platform, C++ framework built for rapid 2D game development.

I'll be using:

  • Visual Studio, XCode, gmake
  • SublimeText 3
  • InkScape
  • Paint.net
  • Audacity
  • bfxr
And probably some other stuff.

Live Streaming

Will be streaming on twitch most of the event so do swing by to checkout progress. Also follow me on twitter @timbeaudet to catch the going-ons, screenshots and misc. randomness that happens through the event!

Some Stuff I'm Using (And you can too!)

I'm getting a template project together for the jam in Unity.

Here are a few Unity tutorials and assets (code not art) that I am using to setup my template for my entry in the compo.

A simple dictionary based Event system for Unity with an hour long tutorial and source, by Adam Buckner:

https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/scripting/events-creating-simple-messaging-system

A free Game Jam Menu Template for Unity which I made for my day job at Unity, which is available for free via the Asset Store, there's also a tutorial on how to use it if you are curious:

https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/40465

The cousins are in!

My cousin and I are in! We might also be joined by a colleague tomorrow, we'll see...

We are both software engineers, so this time around we want to try and focus on our creative skills instead of writing a bunch of complex code - the creative skills are a bit limited, but we'll see how it goes...

We'll be using: * Unity 5 * Visual Studio 2017 with C# * Piskel * Boscea Ceoil

I'm in for the first time!

I’ve been into game development for a while and watched Brackeys and he inspired me to join Ludum Dare! I will join the Jam and I'm very excited!

I’ll be using Unity 5 and Visual Studio. I will use Blender and Maya for 3D graphics and Photoshop or Paint for 2D! Audio - Bosca Ceoil for music and Audacity for soundeffects!

Good luck and have fun everyone! :sunglasses:

I'm In Once Again!

Third time participating in Ludum Dare!

Tools I'm gonna be using:

  • Game Engine - Unity3D/Love2D
  • Code Editor - VSCode
  • GFX - Piskel + GIMP
  • SFX - Bosca Ceoil

I'm in for the 6th time.

I'll be using: Code: Love2d or Gamemaker:Studio depending on how ambitious my idea turns out to be. Art: Paint.net and possibly some stuff editors online. Sound: Rarely have time for it, sfxr if I get around to it.

First time doing the compo out of town. In Boston for a summer camp at MIT, but I may have even more time than usual because of that.

My small+terrible Love2d files I always use: https://github.com/thedashdude/LoveHelpers

Good for doing nothing, but okay at making buttons and collision detection.

I'm In

Well, I'm not too thrilled with the themes but I will be taking part. I am looking forward to making a great attempt at an okay game.

We are in!

@d4nin3u and I are participating for the first time. We have no idea how it will go but we hope for the best. We are gonna use Unity, VS 17, FL Studio and everything else we can find that might be useful somehow. Best of luck to everybody!

I'll try to be in !

I'm used to have the summer Ludum Dare later in august, and I just discover 2h ago that it was this Week-End...

I'm not properly prepared but I have nothing planed this week-end so let's try !

Don't know yet with what tools I'll work with, either Blender and UE4 or maybe Gimp with a html/js game? Or a 3D printed board game ?

I don't know ! And I have any proper food ready ! :s Will be chaos !

LD39 Logo and Wallpaper

This is an adapted version of my LD38 wallpaper. Feel free to use it for any LD39-related things...

First game jam for a game making hobbyist who started out about a decade ago. I Have trouble motivating myself to finish games and to think small, hopefully this will aid in both categories!

Planning to use GameMaker: Studio Pro (first version), definitely the fastest way I know how to make small but still unique games.

Hope everyone has fun.

We are in

We are a team of 5 people. 2 Programmers 2 Artists 1 Audio & Music guy We are hoping out entry does so well. Have fun guys, may the coffee barrels be with you.

Going in for my first Ludum Dare!

Hi there everyone!

I think I'm going in for the first time after years of missing the opportunity!

My setup will probably be: - Processing / Unity / Pico-8 - Magica Voxel / Aseprite - Bfxr / Audacity / SunvoxTracker / CausticOsx - Pen and Paper - Red Bull

Lets see how far I can get with these! :) Good luck every one!

Looking for artists for Ludum Dare 39

Hello everyone!

I’m looking to participate in Ludum Dare 39 and this time hoping to gather a team to work with hopefully over discord, as for me I am a programmer (primarily C# and C++) I will most likely be using either Unity or SDL to create the game (and maybe some other libraries thrown on top).

If you’d like to see my previous work head over to: http://www.wickedstudios.co.uk/pages/games.html

If you’d like to get in contact with me add me on discord at:  Wicked#3867

Thanks in advance

Ready to jam!

Fourth time LD participant, this will be the third one in a row this time around though. Looking forward to the theme announcement, working from Östersund, Sweden, so the theme will be announced around 03.00 local time, will start t'morrow around 09.00.

This time we're at "Mina Bästa Polare" here in town, here's a picture of my workspace :)

ld39-01-small.jpg

I'm in!!!

I'll probably be using either JavaScript or C++/SDL this time around.

Oh yeah

Here is my first attempt at a Ludum Dare game. I have absolutely no experience in game development and associated tools. This should be fun. My goal is to actually submit something that someone will play for at least 1 minute. Lofty goal…

I will be using gamemaker studio 2 and that is it.

Hell Yeah !

Am Not Gonna miss it despite i didn't pass ._. i'll do my best wish me luck as i do for all who are participating, i'll be using Unity Engine, Photoshop, Audacity, Blender, Substance designer and substance painter

software: Unity, sfxr, Aseprite, Bosca Ceoil.

Angry Squirrels is in the place!

Hey guys!

For the I-don't-count-anymore time, the Angry Squirrels collective is in! This time (thank you holidays) we are only 3 in the team.

The team

  • @tbaudon: the Unity coder
  • @sentsu: the 2D/3D/4D/InfiniteD graphist
  • and myself: the musician

Let's keep in touch to share our progress. Please, support us!

@angrysquirrels_

Im in, I think

Im in for ludum dare 39, if life doesnt get in the way.

In for 3rd time

I'm in for 3rd time. I didant finished 1st game first time (me and my friend), second one turned out really bad (I had to do it in less than a day). I hope this time it will be at least ok, and I'll be doing it with the same friend that I did game for my first LD.

As for what we'll use... we actually don't know yet. Depends what we'll want to do, but we are thinking about monogame or one of js frameworks.

Created a Zelda/LudumDare Wallpaper mashup

Hey guys, check out this wallpaper, pretty simple stuff but it looks nice I guess.

ZeldaDare.png

I do feel like Ludum Dare is kind of like climbing a mountain and the achievement you feel when you get to the top is amazing. Much like iin Breath of The Wild.

Also bug report? These emojis don't work. (That comma is not there in edit mode but shows up in preview mode.) :womanshrugging: :manshrugging:

First LD and First Game Jam

First time doing a game jam and I'm super excited.

Using Unity, Pyxel Edit for art and LMMS for music.

I'm in!

This is going to be my fifth try.

What I'm going to use:

- Ignis Game engine -- my very own 2D game engine (almost bug free...almost)
- Aseprite -- 2d Pixel editor
- Sunvox -- sound and music

I would also like to add that ludumdare helped me a lot in my software engineering career. I actually see improvement when I participate in this event.

I'm in!

This is my second LD, 4th or so game jam. Now I know way more about timing and sleep and the gamedev process in general, so hopefully I'll put out something more polished.

Using Unity, Cubase, Photoshop, and Blender.

3rd time's the charm!

I have to go back to coding for work, but I won't be coding between 5pm and 9pm at least!

Engine: HaxeFlixel or Unity, depends on the theme

Language: Haxe or C#

Editor: FlashDevelop or Unity IDE

Graphics: Blender, Inkscape, GIMP

Audio: Stuff lying around...

I'm hopefully in...

I'm not looking good for this one. Having "some" burnout and i hope that i am able to create something. But i am gonna try, so good luck all and "i'm in".

also if you have some tips for burnout please share them, i can realy use them.

LD39: I'm in !

Hello everybody ! It feels strange to make a new ludum that early, but hey, it's duty call ! I've hesitated about which technology to use, but I'll go on HaxeFlixel this time again. I used Godot in my previous ldjam entry, but the web export is still not fully functional, that's sad.

So here is a recap on technologies I'll probably use this week end : * Haxe * HaxeFlixel * Inkscape

and maybe ... * Krita * LMMS * SFRX * Tiled * Synfig

Obviously, I'll use Staaxe and Polom.

I'll be with some friends from Vikindie in the week end, we plan to stream on Twitch, stay tunned !

Some warmup footage :

warmup.gif

Have fun.

Mama didn't lie

This time I will try to finish compo in 24 hours, because my mom will come to visit me. Will see if I have time to polish game on Sunday.

Lesson learned from last LD, with try to start small.

Tools: - JavaScript, PixiJS, RequireJS, some code from last Ludum Dare - PikoPixel, Blender - GarageBand - and screwdriver.

I'm in!

It will be my second LD and the first one I'll be doing alone.

I have prepared food and drinks for the weekend (including  :stuckouttongueclosedeyes:), so I'm prepared to not leave home for 2 days .

Good luck to everybody and have fun!

LD39, I'm In!

This is my first time, after a long time of being busy, I got a free weekend. I think i will use Unity as game engine. maybe Paint.NET or Photoshop for art. sounds, I got 0 idea what to use, so I will just choose something in the last hours.

I didnt know that ludum dare is this weekend, so I'm coming without warmup. I will do a 24 game, as I got stuff to do in sunday. Good luck, everyone.

hype

We are going to finally make a good game this year. New studio name, new motivation, we are hyped.

Im In!!!

First Game Jam! I'm pretty inexperienced, but i have a team. Hopefully we can whip up something fun in the time allowed? ;)

LET'S GO LET'S GO

Alright, we're going for the third. Last time I personally screwed up real good, but maybe we'll aim for something smaller this time around.

  • @Devastus | https://twitter.com/devastus
  • @Mindhead | https://twitter.com/NikoFinsk

Our approach might be a bit dependent on the theme and idea, but most likely we'll be going with the good ol' basics:

  • Unity3D 2017.1 Engine
  • Reaper & bunch of VSTis for music
  • Blender & Maya
  • Pyxel Edit (if going for 2D)

Good luck everyone! Here's to hoping things go smoothly (sure thing bro).

Looking for a team?

Join us! We will be working on a group submission. Anyone can help, we need ideas, testers, artists, musicians, coders, Unity experts, moral support, and pizza.

We'll be making a 2D game in Unity. The rest is TBD once the theme is announced.

I will be streaming as much as I can this weekend at http://twitch.tv/HardlyDifficult

First Ludum Dare

I don't know how much I will actually be able to make but hopefully I learn a bunch

My first proper Ludum Dare!

I've been in before, but only symbolically, as my game was rushed together in a couple of hours :p This time however, I'll put in a bit more of an effort. Good luck all!

I guess it's kinda required...

...to say that I'm in LD39!

It's also my first time, so I'm not sure how it'll go :P

Engine: Gamemaker (because it's the only one I've worked this year)

Art: Paint.NET (keeping it simple)

Sound: Bfxr & Audacity

Music: Bosca Ceoil (if I even get this far)

We are IN!

Our first LD! One robot, one muffin! One designer, one programmer. From Spain. Already prepared, voting last themes. Good luck!!!

Our technologies: * :robot: Cordova + HTML5 + JS + p5.play + some physics library * :icecream: Photoshop + Illustrator + lot of love

p1.png

I'm In?

Second Ludum Dare! Let's go! Still have no idea what I'm doi- wait a minute...

It's time to stare at a computer screen for 2 days and somehow have a game by the end of the event. Good luck to all!

I'm in!

Competing in LD 39 with 2 friends! Good luck all.

LD is so close right now! Here are some GM control scripts!

With LD so close, and my mind freaking out about the theme, I realized I didn't do something I should've done last week, so here it is! :stuckouttongue:

These are some control scripts I made for GameMaker:Studio, might work fine on GMS2 too: - YX Control Scripts: are some control handling scripts, inspired by Derek Yu's Spelunky Classic control scripts, there's a bit more stuff, I tried cramming some 4 player setup and it's ready for control mapping/saving too (uses INI files); - YX Touch Controls: are some objects I used while I was porting the last LD entry I made (Rainwater (is Free)) to Android, they consist of an on-screen analog and button widgets you can use and watch for updates;

They're not the best stuff, there might be better ways to handle controls, but are the solutions I found would fit me better, it might work for you too! So feel free to use'em on your games!

And that's it! Back to my nail-biting hours before LD starts!

Good luck to y'all, have fun and some amazing gamedev there!

I'm really eager to make and play this time! :video_game:

Cheers!

In with my first (hopefully) procedural game

Hi!

It's been years since I've managed to crank anything out for LD, but I've decided I want to go again. Given how short I am on time on the weekends (fatherhood!), I am setting my sights a little low :).

I will be doing everything in Pico-8, which has quickly become my favorite way to program games. It's so fast!

I have also become obsessed with procedural action games (Splunky and Isaac are basically the only games I ever play anymore), and so I want to take a crack. I've made a bare-bones level generator for a bare-bones platformer that I've released (https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=42855&tid=29695) so I can utilize it. I don't know exactly what it will be yet, as I am waiting on the theme, but we will see!

Have fun, and if you are interested in using this level generator in Pico-8, let me know! It can probably be ported to LOVE without TOO much effort, and I would love to help there if you are interested.

-PBG

I'm in for the first time!

Hello everyone! This will be my first Ludum Dare. I only started game development a few months ago and I've now gotten confident that I'll be able to make a game in 72 hours!

Around five hours to go, so I'm using the time to set up some starting code.

Have fun, everyone!

#The In message#

Greeting from Alicante - Spain, 2nd Ludum dare and third game jam, hopefully in this one we bring a fully functional half-polished game. And if not, at least we'll get the laughs off of it. Hopefully you'll get through the event learning something and having fun.

I'm in :)

I'm a Belgian student and try my best for this LD. I will use Löve2D + Paint.net + {insert here some audio software}

I'm In

Using LÖVE for the programming and Aseprite for art. Sounds will probably come from FreeSound.org. :D

Good luck to everyone participating!

I'm in!

This is my first jam, heck !!!

Pixelbukkake is in!

We're glad to be in! Greetz from Germany. Follow us:

https://twitter.com/Pixelbukkake?s=09

Totally in this time

At last I have some time for another Ludum Dare, still haven't decided between Game Maker, Unity, butterflies. Depends on the theme mostly. Have fun!

The site is already choking, please post the theme on Twitter as soon as you can people.

I'm in!

Second Ludum Dare for me. Looking forward to participate again. I will be using Delphi, and maybe Bosca Ceoil for sound and music.

Preparing...

Preparing myself for the LD! Gonna do some groceries, try to set up a very simple blog for logging the development. Probably gonna use GameMaker this time, again. :stuckouttongue:

Also, just set up an empty repo, and it's here: LD-39. Only a README and LICENSE now, but soon it'll have a game, right?

And, if you didn't see it, I made some GameMaker control scripts available in these repos here: - YX Control Scripts; - YX Touch Controls;

Feel free to use'em!

Good Luck Everyone!

I'm in! First gamejam.

Programming noob, taking the opportunity to build some skills.

I'll be using Godot. Not totally sure if I'm making my own graphics yet. Wish me luck!

we're in

my first jam i'm 13 and will be working with my dad and i'll be working in game maker studio my dad doesn't think we'll get something done but we must do it because its my first jam

I'm in

This will be my third LD, and I'm probably more ready for this than I think.

This time I'll be using: * A custom game engine (if I can get it into a workable state) if I decide to do 3D, or LÖVE if I do 2D. * Blender for 3D art and GIMP or Krita for 2D. * Either Bosca Ceoil or LMMS for music; not sure about SFX yet.

I'm in

for my fifth Ludum Dare I'll try the Jam solo I'll use :

  • Gimp
  • Unity
  • Bfxr (http://www.bfxr.net/)

others probably

Methyltheobromine cares, Methyltheobromine loves you.

I'm in

Using Java and Paint.NET (and FL Studio [and probably JLayer]).

I'm in!

I think this is my 6th or so time participating. This time I'm practically unprepared. I only chose what to use and set everything up. Oh well!

Tools that I'll be using: - Engine: love2d - Graphics: gimp - Sound: bfxr (and something else if there will be time. But there won't )

Sooo... I guess it's time tu learn Lua syntax!

I'm in

This'll be my first Ludum Dare. I've been making games as a hobby for a few years, hopefully I'll finally make something worth putting out there.

I'll be using Love2D and Moonscript.

I'm in :)

For my 14th participation, I'll do my best! I just hope the theme will inspire me (and not too late). I wish good luck and a lot of fun to all the LD community for that 39th edition!

well, to be honest it's my 15th one, but I had to give up my 13th atempt because I did not have any usefull idea until few hours before the end, and I was not able to make something functional before the deadline

I'm in (I think...)

I may not have the time for it this LD but hopefully I can get something together. Once the theme is announced I will do a bit of brainstorming for a couple of hours, if I can get excited about an idea I will try and follow through with it.

Tools: I'll mostly be using a bunch of tools I have no clue how to use, but either have student licenses for or got in humble bundles. If its a 3D game I will most likely be using 3DS Max, and possibly substance designer / painter. If its 2D or isometric I will probably be using MagicaVoxel, Marmoset Hexels and maybe a couple of other things I have never used. I will be using Unity for the engine and probably FL Studio for the audio.

Some sleep before the Jam

Jam starting at 3am in Europe? Sure, let's get some last sleep :P 739889.png

Obligatory "I'm In" Post

This is my 7th LD after a couple of years hiatus. The last I had heard was that LD was going down, so I'm so happy to see it's still alive and thriving!

Best of luck all, and get some sleep!

Custom map editor!

P.S.: None of the graphics will be used in the actual game. It's for testing purposes only. enginetest3.gif

I'm in!

This is going to be my 12th jam. Construct 2, Photoshop CS5 and FLstudio. Good luck all!!
