Hello everybody! Point Bleep Studios are in! To celebrate we are posting our list of hot tips for a successful Ludum Dare...
Good luck and have fun!
https://pointbleepstudios.com/2017/07/28/10-tips-to-survive-ludum-dare/
Hey guys, my second LD and first jam with my partner.
Might also participate in the CoronaDefoldJam if the theme is interesting enough to continue working on.
Good luck.
its been a while since i participated (i think LD27, is hte last source code i can find) but i'm looking forward to getting to grips and dusting off my Monogame Engine i wrote 3 years ago.
I have spent the last couple of days trying to get to grips with Entity component systems again, and i'm a little daunted by being able to finish but going to dive right in and see where we end up
Looking forward to the theme suggestion bring on LD39 :)
oh and also looking stream
its almost here...LD39 :D
Back to Ludum Dare :) I'm super excited!
Here is my toolset:
Joining using Unity
I'm just starting holidays today, and what a better way to celebrate than by doing some more gamedev
I've started thinking of some ideas with the final theme selection, and as far as tools go, I'm still undecided, but odds are that I'll go for the familiar ones:
My preparation plan includes some more brainstorming, checking the tools, doing some shopping for groceries, playing "for science" and hopefully having a good rest.
Best luck to everyone else! :D
Using Unity as always :)
Ready for my very first LD.
Only open-source tools : Godot Engine, Gimp and Audacity.
Fourth Ludum Dare for me, solo again this time. I'll probably be doing something with Unity/Spine/Photoshop/Cinema4D or none of these, we'll see :)
I've been into game dev for a while and was inspired by Brackeys to join!
I'll be entering the jam with my friend ZXCDani.
Here is what we will use:
Might record and upload the whole experience to youtube! So be on the lookout for that!
Good luck and have fun! Ghost.
First timer here, let's see how that goes...
Joining Ludum Dare 39 using Unity!
Programming: Python (perhaps) Graphics: GraphicsGale / Aesprite Sound: BFXR (and other various sources)

We are ready to enter for the second time as a team!
We'll probably be using Unity, Photoshop and Ableton to make our game!
Also, we often use the absolutely mad Ink language, so might as well include it.
*Let's all have loads of fun! :ok_hand:*
First timer here, so I hope you go easy on me :) I'll be using Godot engine, alongside with Aseprite and Bosca Ceoil.
Back for my 3rd Ludum Dare, feeling optimistic this time.
My second Ludum Dare :D
First time doing a jam. First time making a game....
Going to be so much fun.
Hi everyone! This is my first time in LD and I hope everything goes well. Good luck!
Will see if I manage to actually complete anything!
My bag of tools.
Engine- Corona SDK
Code- Corona XCode Editor
Art- Photoshop
Audio- I never seem to get this far...
My second jam, first LD. I'll be using PICO-8.
It's finally time for me to participate in my 3rd Ludum Dare! I'm so exited as I know it will be challenging and FUN. My main objective this time is to fully discover Monogame by finishing a game.
Here is my tool set for LD39: - Language + Framework: C#/Monogame - Editor: Visual Studio 2017 - Graphics: Paint.NET (cuz' I can barely draw pixelart :3) - Audio: Probably Bfxr and whatever simple music editor to make loops XD
And don't forget: have fun making games in 48 to 72 hours!
Hi! It's the first LD for us (Me and @klon160) and hopefully everything goes well!
Tools we are (propably) going to use:
Good luck to everyone and let's have some fun!
i'm so ready for this LD!!
i didn't do well last time
but that doesen't mean i won't make something SUPER GREAT this time!!
i don't have a great track record for finishing these, but i have more time this weekend than i have the past several.
all bets are off for bad themes tho
First time I'll be completing a game for Ludum Dare(Hopefully), Unity, Blender, Photoshop, Bfrx, and Bosca Ceoil. Good Luck to everyone participating!

I'm in! This is my 3rd ludum dare, I've used the p5js library for JavaScript for my last 2 games, but this time I'll be writing it in Java without any third party graphics libraries. I'm planning to make a 2D retro style game, but I need to see if the theme fits in to that. I'll probably be streaming it on twitch: https://twitch.tv/TheWGBbroz

Good luck to everyone!

Solo compo, as ever.
Unity and my base code for sure, and art and sound most likely from Inkscape and Reaper/synth.
My goal: maximize score in the Fun category.
I wasn't sure I was going to make it this weekend, but I cannot resist the urge to participate in Ludum Dare 39. So - I'm IN!
Tools of the trade:
Let's see what we get!
Good luck to y'all!
I'm participating in my first game jam ever. I started programming last summer, but I'm already super advanced. Using GameMaker: Studio 2 for coding, Paint.NET for graphics and MuseScore for music.
Ready to enter LD39 and looking forward to playing your games

Howdy!
I'll be joining LD39 - making this my 10th LD (I think I skipped LD30). Last time around I had a little too much going on and had to bow out early. This time around, my slate is clear and I'm ready to make a damn game! Depending on how things go I really want to submit this bad boy for the compo.
Rolling with the usual stack: - Unity3D 2017 - Photoshop CC - Blender - FL Studio 12 - BFXR
I plan on streaming the majority of this weekend, so come take a gander and chat at twitch.tv/thoughtreactorlive. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN! Let's get it! :triumph::triumph::triumph::triumph:
Unfortunately I missed LD38, this time I'm prepared. We'll be using Unity, Sketchup, Photoshop, FL Studio, SFXR, Visual Studio, and probably more.
My team includes @timothy-hoffman, @CosmicSpecimen, and @MatthewNoel
Good luck to everyone!
last LD didnt go well for me, but this time i will aim lower again. Just like it was seid in the keynote. Aim for 4 hours and you´ll make it (probably). Aswell as this time i won´t focus on doing smth artsy-fartsy just because.. but won´t let me put down by other games or ideas. You know, selfesteem, games are art, etc . I want to finish a game again.
My Tools: Gamemaker:Studio or Phaser-Typescript Photoshop LMMS and sfxr Coffeemachine
greetings from Austria!
This is my first Ludum Dare.
I'll be using: Game Maker 2 and Photoshop
Hope I can finish in time.
So this is my first jam and hopefully not my last. I'll be using Unity and, if i get far enough, Photoshop for the art. Good luck everyone.
Was going to give this one a miss because I couldn't get off work but screw it. I will work on something small :D.
So I will be using the following:
Engine: Unity3d 2017.1 Libs: Entitas Graphics: Photoshop Audio: Audacity and Audition
I'm in for my third Ludum Dare. Going to be using Java with LibGDX, Paint.NET and bfxr.
Looking forward to the theme reveal.
I'm not sure how i'll do. Wish me luck!
Hey Everyone,
I will be using Ludum Dare 39 to make the very first game built with my brand new game engine. I'm really looking forward to using use the limited feature and still come up with something enjoyable. Or maybe I will even add a few more features over the weekend.
My list of tools: - Game Engine: Playthos (http://www.autovelop.com/playthos/) - Art: Piskel (http://www.piskelapp.com/) - Sound FX: Bfxr (http://www.bfxr.net/) - Music: Chirp (http://chirp.rezoner.net/) - Coding: Vim (http://www.vim.org/)
Coverage: - Twitter - Facebook - Twitch

Today is my youngest daughter's birthday and tonight when the kids go to sleep I'll head to bed at the same time as them and I'll set my alarm so I can get up in time for LD which starts 3 AM Swedish/CET time. This will be my fourth consecutive Ludum Dare and every time around I get more and more eager and excited to participate. There are so many lessons to be learned before, during, and after LD. I wish all of you the best of luck and plenty of fun!
My weapons of choice will be: * Unity 5.5 * Photoshop CS * Blender * Sound Forge * Cubase
I took part of other LD before, but I've never managed to finish anything before the deadline. Maybe this time will be different. Maybe not. But I'm definitely planning on having a great time during the next couple of days.
Tools: * Crimild Engine: https://github.com/hhsaez/crimild * Blender * Gimp * Emacs * Pen & paper
GLHF!
i'ts my first ludum dare ever, so wish me luck!
programs that i'm gonna use:
Gamemaker Studio 2, Aseprite, Bosca ceoil and Chiptone.
My second time already. Lets create something cool!
I cannot believe finally I'm able to jam at LD! Looking forward for the theme!
I'm in, are you?
9th Ldjam in a row now although I'm not excited as usual. I put this in the stupidly short amount of time since the last jam which is a shame usually I like getting all pre-hyped.
Oh well, still going to take part but most likely I wont be nearly killing myself due to overdosing on caffeine and lack of sleep. :)
Hope everyone has fun, that's the main important thing!
Hi dear fellows. As usual, I am in for the 39th Ludum Dare event - and feeling a real happiness to be with you. However I have to work tonight. For this reason I cannot know which theme will be selected by the community. I wonder if one of you could send me a short SMS so as to inform me about the theme. This way I could think about a first approach. I work in Luxembourg. For us, the theme will be displayed tonight at 3h00. If you can help me, please contact me at this address below. I will answer, giving to you my phone number. Thank you for your help. I wish you the best. Have fun ++
PS : I found someone :)
So i'm in for LD39, my 2nd Ludum Dare.
I was doubtful that i'd be able to compete this time due to conflicts with a holiday to the USA. I'm in the states right now.
Thankfully I thought of something. I arrive back in the UK, and get access to a laptop and other game development equipment, 12-15 hours before the Jam finishes. Thankfully, I have all the time before that to design a good game, so this will be fun.
Good luck to all!
Yo! Up close to the LD39!!!
Get yourselves ready, as well as some additional supplies you always need when you code.
Placing a rubber ducky on the left side and some sweets in the right are my suggestion.
Get some enough sleep, too...
If you are seeing this post, I truly recommend getting your stuff prepared and GO TO SLEEP (especially when you are seeing this post in the night time.).
I will be waiting for your awesome games!
See ya on the submission day!
Cheers,
cozyplanes
First time I'm going to participate in the jam. I'm pretty excited.
Tools I'm going to use: - Godot Engine 2.1.3 - OBS - Peek (for making gifs) - LMMS (if time permits) - sfxr - Blender as video editor - Emacs - :coffee: - itch.io for hosting - github for code
I'm going to team up with my GF - Kyasarinn. She is an artist :art: I'm not sure how to add somebody to team... but I hope I'll figure it out!
Good luck everyone and have fun!
I'm hoping this will be a nice little detraction to make my other game feel more fresh when I go back to it.
For this LD I will be using GameMaker: Studio BFXR Asprite LMMS Audacity
I'm hoping to do something different with the art or audio if the theme gives me a chance to (hand drawn, piano for sounds, etc)
It's my first time in the Ludum Dare, and I just want to say congratulations to anyone new like me to this competition. I hope everyone has a fun time, and as always, DFTBA! :sunglasses:
I am going solo for the this jam and I will be using Unity,Photoshop,Blender,LMMS and maybe Audacity. this is my first time and I hope it will be fun! good luck to everyone!
Well, today's the day! Time to anxiously watch the clock, and try not to go insane. We (A friend and I) managed to be in the "Winners" in 2 categories last time with StopWatch. Hopefully we can build something well received again!
We developers have the power, for we create the games that 1.2 billion people play. 1/7 of the world's population play video games, and we are the supply, so WE HAVE THE POWER! Put more games in that supply. Create new ideas. Try to win the Ludum Dare, so you can show everyone that YOU HAVE THE POWER! Let's do this.
I'm super excited to take part in LD for the first time, witness me!!sprays silver
Hi guys, aside from a post containing things that I'll be a part of the upcoming Ludum Dare (and of course I'll do, since I've skipped 2 Ludum Dares after 36), here's something for you all.
It's 10 hours, 28 minutes and 40 seconds remaining as I'm about to post this. I've made 2 wallpapers just to boost some motivation for Ludum Dare 39. Regardless of what theme is going to be, just do a playable game!
Save one of these images if you're interested :D

Good luck to everyone :)
Entering into ludum dare for the first time! Me and a few friends hope to be able to make a short game with pygame. Should be fun :)

I will be using GameMaker: Studio to make my game, and will be using ,PDN, GIMP and Photoshop for the artistic style of my game. I hope you all do well! See you on the other side!
Another Ludum Dare! I'm excited. Going to dust of Unity for this I guess...
The past Ludum dares have been a real blast! I'll be joining with a couple of friends using Java. Good luck!
Godot 2.1, Renoise, GIMP and/or Krita.
Let's do this!
This time I plan to finish.
Good luck everyone!
Excited for my second attempt at a Ludum Dare event! Took the day off to relax and prepare. Lets make something cool! Best of luck to everyone! :gem:
Development Tools
Since it isn't yet linked on the new site, I'd like to remind everyone that the official LudumDare IRC channel is still alive and running at #LudumDare on irc.afternet.org
Just point your favorite IRC client to join, or use kiwiirc's web client:
Been a while since the stars aligned and I was able to jam, but they have and I am! Using Unity, probably Ableton live for music, not sure what to do for art? Maybe Magicavoxel or photoshop. We shall see.
Kapricorn Media is back for another Ludum Dare! We did LD36 about a year ago. We're two people, an artist and a programmer, looking to create something worth your while.
For now, here's an LD39 splash screen we'll be using for our game:

This'll be my third Ludum Dare. Haven't done one in a while so we'll see how this goes.
Good Luck!
OMG! Ludum Dare!
I'm totally excited for this event :) I hope everyone has fun, and I hope we get a kickass theme! Good luck all!
Just saying I'm in! Gonna try the compo for the first time! I've done the jam several times (and submitted a few!) but I've never tried going solo and finishing in 48 hours.. so this will be fun!
Also.. I'm glad I decided to check in early.. I'm in a new timezone and just realized the LD starts two hours earlier than I'm used to! :O
Anywho.. I was kinda confused as to how to get to make a new post on the site.. turns out you have to "make a game" first... strange...
My first Ludum Dare! Pumped.
Unity, Visual Studio, Blender, Photoshop, whatever is called for
First time in a year! Didn't think it would come to that. Was hoping to try a C++ type game this time but haven't got far with graphics yet so I'm sticking with Java. Also hoping to make a space game (if the theme permits ;) ) Good luck to all!
My first Ludum Dare experience :) Blender/unity/gimp/bfsx/bosca-ceoil. I should have everything to start! So excited!
The title says it all
Had a blast last time, which was my first ever game jam. Looking forward to getting stuck in this time around too!
Not sure how inspired the theme will leave me, but hopefully I'll go for it and have a slightly more chill and relaxed jam experience.
For those who make a Goa the quiet time to program:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwpAm-gh2H8
I haven't tried in a long time because I only had 1 successful submission about a year and a half ago. I wish I never stopped but I'll use this weekend to pick gamedev back up again and hopefully get something out there
Good Luck, Have Fun and Happy Programming everybody!
First Ludum dare, Good luck to all. Can't wait to see all the games that come out this time around! also hoping for a good theme! :)
Still not quite sure as to whether I need to do this twice or not, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
LD for the first time!I Hope everything go well:D Hype!
First time doing compo and just checking if it's ok if I use RPG Maker MV as long as I create all my own tile sets and art and music. I'll be creating my own scripts as well but it's just because I'm experienced with RPG Maker.
I'm in for my 11th consecutive Ludum Dare! I won't be able to work on it Sunday, so i'll be joining the jam instead!
I'll be using Unity, visual studio and Paint.net.
Have fun!
I'll be using UE4, GIMP, Cockos Reaper. I'm into doing some graphic design/texture stuff and music/audio but not real strong on the programming front. Message/comment if you'd like to team up!
First Ludum Dare hype! Best of luck to everyone and may the best game win :trophy:
Programming Language: Java
Framework: LibGDX
Graphics: Photoshop CC 2015
Audio: Ableton Live and Audacity
IDE: Intellij
What's up guys. I'll be streaming on https://www.twitch.tv/9chuckeles9. Unity3D, FlowCanvas, Aseprite, Bfxr. My goal is to finish the game and to keep it down to one core idea, as simple as possible.
And we're once again, very excited!
