Progress after 1h30min of work.
Started with some graphics, and player movement. Definetely not a mario clone.

Fantasy about cryptocurrency and life of usual Dude
(If you are Graphic or Sound Artist and looking for team -- I am open to suggestion :)

The player starts playing as a banknote. In the game, the value of this banknote decreases and becomes a coin or the value of the banknotes increases !!! to be continue…
After 2 hours, this is what I've done:

whatever the title said ^^

I've got some items, you can pick them up and whack them together or put them on tables!

Good progress is being made so far:
Progress so far: 3 servers are up. 1 for Live, 1 for Dev and 1 for database. I got the core framework done (url redirects, variable handling, security, error checking, input validations). Users can register (cannot use existing username or email). Users can submit error reports through the front end. Once registered they can log into the main game screen. The players can move around a 100x100 square world. The world is auto generated so any size can be used in the future. Each square is green to represent the amount of vegetation is on that tile.

I'm a bit late, it's orthodox Christmas tomorrow and it seems like I won't make it on time this jam.
Simplest of the simple art almost done, need a few more sprites to make this work

https://www.twitch.tv/robotik
Idk what the rules about links or anything are but i'll be starting soon
Guys we need a pixel art graph for a satanist game if someone is free ;)
As you can see my collision detection and handling is working! (Woke up 1h:30min ago so dont be too rude!)
Also, im in!
So I just woke up, started brewing my coffee and I'm ready to start brainstorming ideas. This is my second Ludum Dare. My last was LD40. I'm interested to see how this goes. :D
My best idea so far is a love story about a coin and a banker :/

Ok, I have a very very rough idea of what I want to do, and I started to do stuff on Magica Voxel.

Hey there,
this is our second LD and this time we decided to try streaming our process.
Our entry is going to be a 2D, pixel style fighting game and are working mainly with Unity & Aseprite.
Come visit us on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/remusnomos

I couldn't submit last time because of a lethal combo of overscoping and burnout, so I'm back with a vengeance.
My personal goals this time: * Submit a fun game (obviously). * Try to keep scope as small as possible. * Focus on creating the game, not the systems.
I've just come out of bed and I'm still brainstorming, so for now the toolset is unclear. but I guess I'll go with Unity 2019 or Haxeflixel as always, plus satellite tools (PS, Aseprite, Audacity, Trello, ...)
Good luck to everyone! Have fun, and take care of yourselves!
So I wanted to join, but due to some life project I don't know if I'll have to time to do something good. I'll try my best ! I'm clarifying my first ideas, I have one already but IDK what to do with it.

I'll stick with the theme, it's not a creative theme but I think it'll push the dev to their limits and that's what developing is.
So, if it's going to be a tower defense, then my concept is something like this. You as a player invaded by monster or enemies that want your unique blood because it can be used for building technologies like towers and walls and traps and so on. yet your blood is your life, and because there are invaders and you are a lonely single fighter guy, then the only option is to defend yourself by using your own blood!
Your objective is to keep alive! that's it, but how you could keeping yourself alive while you defend it by using your own life? well, currency management is your one way answer. there are shops and building store on the gui that you can buy and build your strategic deployment. it's a lane based tower defense so it needs to calculate where and when your guards should be deployed.
on the enemy side, they'll come steadily until a certain wave then they'll come in a group of badasses.
It's what I got on my mind, not that good but I think it's better than nothing.
"Your life is currency"
This thing hauted me all night. It's 11:30, just finished my breakfast. Gotta be honest, not really feeling the theme, but oh well.
I've got more coffee, let's see if an idea presents itself :D
Some of you may know me as NNNIKKI. I decided to change my nickname so it's easier to pronounce and remember.
I'm gonna make an 8-bit fighting game, inspired by Smash Bros and Brawlhalla (great game btw). However, instead of being punched further back the more damage you take, you punch others further the more damage you take. You can also buy stronger weapons the more damage you take. A nice little negative feedback loop, to keep the score even.
Oh and I'll make a combo system.
Good luck and have fun everyone!
So i'll be streaming here the whole event ( i think ) : https://www.twitch.tv/binarygleam
And here's how the art will look like I think !

So I've abandoned my first idea about timetravelling and got back to this one.
(Just look at this slime, isn't he cute? :) )
Hopefully it's simple enough to implement, yet at least somehow enjoyable
I suppose that survival-exploration is suitable to the theme
Hi everyone, we are in for Ludum Dare 44! We are going with quite a loose interpretation of the theme, as we had a cool idea and we really wanted to try it out. It's going to be a pottery game, you'll play a lonely potter who has to sell pots each day to survive.
We have a very vague mock-up of the workshop and exhibition area, going for a hand-drawn look this time around:

I don't think this will be pretty but I'm in. I too did not vote for this theme but hey time to get creative and that is what I love about this.
I'll be using my last entry as a starting point for this entry since it's open source. Publishing on itch as well.
0 Ideas found
Finished my 80-col text routines. Those were fun to write. Not!

Not really a whole lot to show for my day's progress. Hopefully tomorrow I will make up for it. Goodnight!
Update: You can find my disk image right here Requires an Apple //e to run!
A trading game...? Hoping to have lots of polishing time!

I forgot to do updates! Welp.

heres a half tiled house then, for what you ask? Maybe in a future update.
I've gotten inspired, and the game is moving forward great! My game is where you are a coin, and you collect gold to increase your value. It's a platformer and when you die you lose value. The goal is to reach a value of $1, or if I have more time, $5.
Some progress, the enemy movement from one point to another is working, the basics of our Tower Defence game.
The quality and framerate of the gif is bad, sorry for tht.

Well...

I've made some sprite this morning, pretty happy with the result so far
I've got a vague concept idea which (probably) involves procedural generation so I started working on the movement. Now its time to do some level generation

I just lost a ton of time trying to get the 2D skeletal animation work in Unity. This is as far as I got:

I give up. I just can't get it to work as I want and it eats a ton of CPU. Moving back to the good-ol' pixel animation.
Well, I am finally awake, seen the theme and started brainstorming.
I'll admit, Your Life is Currency isn't my favourite of the topics, but it does give me a few ideas. I'll update after a brainstorming session / breakfast.

I have never studied art before, and this design is a new challenge for me.
Phew, streaming and coding at the same time is harder than I first thought... Need to go for lunch.
But at least my simple character Controller is nearly done:

I've got a basic engine with texture rendering, bitmap fonts and input all working.

Now it's time to think about what my game is going to actually be!
finaly i can i can play it now time to make spawners for npcs and other npcs and ill have time for art work or power ups. and in some places the event graph looks so nice that im proud. time foer a break

First of all, the theme REALLY SUCKS!
...but we're getting over it. Here's a screenshot displaying our idea in a nutshell.

Good luck, everyone!

After working for quite a lot of time we managed to nail down a lot of stuff, and by a lot i mean a lot. Our game idea contians of both 2D and 3D mashup. Optimization is gonna be hard but we will do it too. Here is a creepy computer till then. Quack!
The game is basically done, just need to make more levels now

I've been live for a couple of hours and this is what I got! https://www.twitch.tv/mi_abuelita
It doesn't look like a lot at the moment, but I managed to get (nearly) all of the basic movement functionality working.
Instead of using my own engine which I had planned, I'm using LibGDX instead. There are just a few too much features still missing in my own engine to be usable right now, which bugs me a lot, but it is what it is.

I need some help guys: I don't really think that I will have enough time for implementing both. Which one do you prefer?
Controller/Keyboard or Keyboard+Mouse for a top-down ARPG?

It's the first time for most of the team but we are super motivated !
Here is the first mockup of the game :

Good luck to every one :v:
After 6 hours of reflexion and 3 hours of dev, we finally got our first visual. It begins to feel good, maybe it's the good time to do a little nap

We don't know which one. He used to be a mage, but now he is just a bag of gold. Beard or no beard?

So I've been up for 19-ish hours now... I managed to get the most of the core game built. Debating whether to add property simulation time, etc. since it seems to be turning into a simulation game. I might do a little bit more work, then I'll take a power nap for a bit...

I got rid of skeletal animation in 2D and got back to just moving game objects! It looks good.

I got rid of any 2D skeletal animation I was attempting before. Now back to just moving game objects. It looks good!
I have an idea and hope it is good
After ten hours I have.... an idea. Maybe. Things aren’t off to a great start, but I only promised myself I would submit something.... I didn’t say it needed to be good.
I see only "My Game", "New", notifications icon and profile icon. :-(
Baby is asleep, have the computer to myself, and all fueled up with coffee and too much sugar!
I am entering with some friends !
We'll be using Phaser 3, VS Code, Aseprite and Ableton :v:
-
Not sure how it will work in he end, but I decided to go for relatively large, hand-sketched graphics for now. I might switch to proper pixel art later on.

I see only "My Game", "New" and notification icon and profile icon
Got started a bit late today but I have a good feeling about this one! :)
About to call it a night for the first day of the compo. I reckon I got a unique enough interpretation of the theme; here's a peek into my (currently) wacky test map. Good luck, and have fun everyone.

Was in two minds for a good while, and just decided on what to make. Off we go!

This LD I decided to avoid the obvious "Cast from HP"/"Buy with HP" mechanic and make an interactive fiction piece, interpreting the theme as "Spend your one and only life on something" and tackling some, ahem, complex real-life issues.
The point is, PC is a suicide bomber. Not the Islamic kind, more like some kid who has spent too much time reading the Unabomber manifesto. I really hope that I'll manage to pull it off without looking like a complete edgelord. Maybe not, we'll see.
This bug was a nice cheer up to this jam. I hope you enjoy it too! :D

Doors and chest can be opened with your live. but watch out for the enemys. They will try to kill you! Make sure to choose wisely the door through this maze.
GIF:

Cash your life experiences in to St Peter to accrue karma to get into the BEST HEAVEN!
Using pico-8 -- end of day 1, progress is good!

We spent all morning (after waking up late thanks to the cat going crazy in the middle of the night) hashing over ideas, and sticking post-its around the place, but we think we have it cracked. We're going for a card game route, similar to Hearthstone, where you have to spend your own life to play cards instead of spending mana. Wheels is doing well with the coding side. Cats has discovered she is worse at drawing on a computer than she is with pen & paper. This will be a cool game with some terrible graphics.....
We managed to think on something that might work with the theme :)
Beginning to make some movement tests
.
all mechanichs are done so fare,i just have to make more asssets and content.
the game is a simple topdown shooter when you get hit you lose cash when you kill enemys you get cash, and you can buy upgracdes after every wave. The story is about a offic worker finishing documents ..
Added some Enemies and Projectiles to keep me entertained.

Will work on a Wave Spawner Next!
Spent what feels like an hour (and probably was about that, if not more) on figuring out how to decelerate the player by, say, a total of 90% every second when the framerate is user defined, but turns out just decelerating by 1000% of the speed worked out a lot better. Oh well. Leasson learned.
I've managed to get a lot done so far. You can traverse the (obviously unfinished) game world, collide with buildings, and even chat with NPCs!

I also have the basic system for entering and leaving buildings, but there are no interiors right now, so touching a door just teleports you to the top-left corner of the map. Interiors and collectable items/clues will be next on the agenda after lunch.
I think this is the most I've ever gotten done by Saturday lunchtime in a Ludum Dare. All my hard work in the TIC-80 engine is really paying off!
My progress thus far, I got the UI ready and movement script. A huge improvement over last jam. (It is a fish underwater)

Going for an egyptian theme.
I drew this thing

Some more progress on the game: Cells get more expensive when they move around, and cheaper when they stay still. This influence the score you get when you harvest the board. Becoming a game, maybe?
OK! After some brainstorming, we now have a concept for our game.
* There will be a map.
* There will be enemies.
* There will be boss.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is making tons of progress with their Ludum Dare entries. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I just wanted to stop by and share my progress with my LD entry. I am using GB Studio and I spent most of the night learning how to shake and move in the wicked little tool. Had to use GIMP to change the colors of the tileset I am using and I used Tiled to make the maps. I've probably been working on this for about four or five hours and I've made a lot of progress. Here's a video showing most of what I've gotten done.

Hi everyone ^^
After much brainstorming we came up with the idea of creating Drytown!
Drytown is a topdown, 1 bit game where players controls an airhead character that must escape a town full of thirsty vampires by using the only thing valuable in him, his blood.

🦇 We hope you like it! 🦇
No need to draw on a whiteboard. Use static scenes in Unity instead!

hhmmm....

HHhhmmmmm....

HmmhHmmmhHmhmhmhmMMM.....
Meanwhile some people have already completed their game. >_<
I'm in. Just preparing some graphics assets. Stay alive!

Hi guys, I hope the game jam's going fine for you!
First day here, we started working like 6 hours ago and everything's doing great. We found our idea after only 1h20 of brainstorming! We're doing a card game, where you have to pay the costs of the cards with your life. Your cards are basically people and they get older the more you use them! To summon a card, you may either pay with your life or with other cards lives! And of course you're fighting against monsters with those people whose lives you own. At the moment we're preparing the basic gameplay: the player, the monster, the cards and the scene. We're a team of like 5 developers so hopefully we'll be able to implement all the mechanics we'd like to! I can't wait to see the first version and I'll post some screenshots once we have something to show ;)
Good luck and don't forget to eat, drink, take breaks and sleep!
Progress so far :D! Everything is created using only one 1x1 pixel image!\
In this Lifeless Space you are an ethereal "body" that can move by releasing its own elements. You can interact with other "bodies" through this, but the cost is so high... Your life is currency
A lot of stuff come together and additionally the theme just doesn't click for me and I can't get an idea which really motivates me.
But I will appreciate the theme of this jam over this weekend. Your life is currency, which means that your life (or better your lifetime) is what you use to trade to get money (at least in most jobs) to be able to live/survive. The only problem is that you can't really get additional lifetime. Once it is spend it is gone and you won't get it back.
So every second you trade/spend is really precious. Therefore, I will use the time I planned for the jam to really improve my skills in programming/drawing, to be in a better condition for the next games/game jams.
But I wish you all the best for your games and I'm really looking forward to playing them.
I think I've settled on an art style.
Ignore the weird GIF artifacts. The individual frames are solid colors.
We've got stamps! you can stamp!
More generally speaking this is exciting because i can have anything interact with anything else now, but its a start!

The picture below might not look like much but it is :-)
Skeleton parser written, I can now animate fighters ingame!

Just starting out and googling around for some inspiration.
I just stumbled upon this.

Wouldn't be a bad basis for something interesting?
