Less double suggestions this time! Last time there were 100s of 'win = lose XD'

I've made a wallpaper last LD, enjoy

Toying around with Unity as I'm waiting for the start of the LD ! Only 5 days now :D

???
Hi all! This is Victor. We are a team of 2 audio designers, 1 programmer and 1 game designer, and will be making a smaller but creative (probably 2D) game with Unity. If you're an artist and you'd like to work with us, please contact me! Thanks!
After putting it off again and again, I'll finally actually give it a shot. 48 hours. I'll be streaming it too if you want to watch the disaster. Anyway. There's no twitch category for Ludum Dare (anymore?) so what do you guys set instead? I'm on linux, and will be using godot3, and any other tools i need (gimp, audacity, etc)
Hey folks! It's Ludum Dare time again. Tune in each day this week for a new Theme Voting Round. On Wednesday we'll kick off the Final Round Theme Vote.
My apologies for my unavailability as of late. I've been caught up the past year working-on and launching an online game, Arena Stars, that we just released a week ago. *phew*
Now that the project has wrapped, after I take a little bit of time for me, I should have time again to work on Ludum Dare things. This week though I do have to power-through and do my business taxes, but later in the week I should have time to catch up on account changes folks have requested. If I've missed or forgotten you, you can reach out to me, and I'll do my best to address your requests before the event.
That's all from me. I'll catch you again Wednesday with the Final Round kickoff and keynote.
Hey, one of my suggestions ("Unusual magic system") made it past the theme slaughter; that's a first for me!
The ninth game from this team, here it goes again.
Tools:
We've got a basic repository for the game up here already. The "game" can even be played here thanks to GitLab's CI. For now, enjoy a nice spinning dev texture.
And now the promised wallpaper, 3840x2160.

Today, as you might have heard, is the 30th anniversary of the Game Boy. Since I'm going to be using PICO-8 or TIC-80 anyway, perhaps I could try making my game in a monochrome 4-colour palette? It'd be an extra challenge, and a celebration of the Game Boy's birthday - the first console I ever owned was a Game Boy Color, so I'd like to do something to honour it.
I guess I'll decide once I see what the theme is and settle on my game idea. But for now, it's an interesting thought.
I'm stoked to be participating in LD44! This will be my third LD (also 3rd game jam) and as was my goal last time, I hope to keep improving and make something better.
I missed out on LD43 because I was wrapping up production on my debut solo title "Bud Blitz". If you're interested in checking it out it is currently on sale on itch (ends today) for 20% off. The itch purchase also comes with a Steam key!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Let's make it a good one!

Hello everyone! Happy to report that Site12 is going to be a part of ludum dare 44. This is going to be the first ludum dare that we've ever done. We're going to be using unity if we decide to make a 2D game, or unreal engine if we decide to do a 3D game. Just to double check with those who have more experience, in order to "join" the event we have to create our game in the top right corner of the website right? Thanks for anyone who replies. Good luck everyone! I can't wait to see what awesome stuff comes about.

Should be able to get a few hours in for LD, these always seem to fall during the busy times for me any more.
Just finished voting in round 1 and have been messing around with pixel art today, this is what I've done this afternoon in Photoshop. Let me know what you think, feedback would be great!
Finsihed my voting for round one of themes. Out of all the current theme's there are only like four that I think I really could do something cool with. I've already figured out what type of game I want to make so I'm probably gonna spend this week roughing out some design documents for diffrent themes so I can figure out what I am aiming for before the start of the Compo. I'm also gonna look back on the comments I got for my LD43 game and see what positives egatives I can take away from there and try to find what my weak points are so I can make a really fun game this time.
Also the theme of Old Technology and all the post with wallpapers make me want to give making one a try so here is my (poor) attempt at those 1970s brown stripes that you see on old Winnebagos.

I even went ahead and gave it an old resolution. Admittedly I did go for 3:2 rather than 4:3 but I mean what is old tech if not weird and non-standardized. Also I'm sure you can tell but I'm about as much a graphic designer as a child with a box of crayons so for any actual professonals I wan't to apologize for my bastardization of your craft.
I will have about 20 hours for the game this time around, so I sure do hope I will be able to make something nice I can be proud of.
As always, I will do compo.
I am super thrilled about it this time, as I was forced by my uni to write a lot of C++ in the past month, with the past week meaning ~2000 loc of C++, so JavaScript will be a beautiful break from the rigid, formal and strict world of C++. I cannot wait for all the beautiful things such as garbage collecting, loose typing and just the overal light, easy and fun development cycle in JS .
My toolset will be pretty much my default and trusty:
HTML5 + CSS3 + ES6
Google Chrome dev tools
Notepad++
Krita (may not make any actual graphics since the last time was a bit disappointing, considering how proud I was of myself for the graphics)
Audacity / bfxr (if needed, may not have time for sound design)
(perhaps MySQL + phpMyAdmin)
I would love to make something that involves some real-life component (if not a board game altogether, in which case the toolset would obviously change). Eg. printing stuff as you go through the game and solving some puzzles with pieces of printed paper.
Anyway, I must not overcomplicate it. Some very simple straight-to-the-point idea. Just make it small and nice, there's simply not much time for anything more.
School may get in the way, as I have two deadlines the two days after Ludum Dare. Better get to work during the week, so I have time for the important stuff during the weekend
Unfortunately with a 1pm start here in NZ I lose half a weekend day.
Still very keen to put something together. I need the Jam to give me a kick to get some games made.
Planning on using Godot and whatever art and music tools do the job
Good luck everyone!
This will be my first LD, and I might have been a bit harsh during slaughter round yesterday.
