Source code question

So, I'm just wrapping up everything, getting ready to submit for the compo, and I was wondering, what exactly do you submit for the source code? (This is my very first game jam, btw). Is it just a folder containing all your scripts? I'm not exactly sure what source code is. Thanks in advance for the help. If it helps, I used Unity to make my game.

"Four Walls Of The Boiler Room" is complete!

Screenshot (42).png

I had a blast this weekend! Previous LD was the first game I ever developed, I'm so happy I managed to make this game in less than 48 hours! Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to try your games! :)

Almost done with day 2

A few things are more work than expected, but I'm positive my team and I will finish before the deadline tomorrow.

Good luck with the finishing touches to all the compo participants!

Turret Bug is here!

Well, that was a weird weekend. Yesterday I had a long family event and thought to myself that I would not do Ludum Dare this time. But today I woke up, scrolled through what you guys posted here, felt inspired by your stories and screenshots and decided that I cannot NOT do a Ludum Dare! :sunglasses:

Today I was tiresly working to finish a game and I did it! I managed not to overscope even though I feel there could be a LOOOT of things done to make it better.

But still, the game is here and I'm happy I've joined yet another Ludum Dare :v:

Please check it our if you're interested! Endless shoot-em-up with bugs :bug:

black_box has looped into existence!

Hey guys, this Ludum Dare has been a blast. I feel like this game is leagues ahead of my 46 submission and I cannot wait to hear the feedback! The only way I can quickly describe the game is that it's a single player Among Us stuck in a time loop.

Computer updated and crashed

Well, I left it updating overnight and when I woke up it couldn't load my user profile and I had to do some tinkering and all my stuff is missing. I know it's on a drive somewhere and I'm trying to get it back but it's kind of a pain this happened during ludum dare 😭 wish me luck

Calling It

Super surprised to finish with time to spare, but after adding a camera shaking effect and some difficulty tweaking, I think my Compo entry "you are dead" is done.

This is my second Ludum Dare entry, and it's probably not surprising but having a clearly defined and achievable scope makes this SO much less stressful.

Randomized Paths!

LD47-00007.gif

Words on this post cannot describe how estatic I was (and still am) at witnessing this work for the first time. I've also got a failsafe where if enough rejected maps are generated, it'll fallback to the basic map.

Making hungry bunnies

Well, it's done. The bunnies have been uploaded to the internet and are ready to eat all your pies. Be prepared and don't say that I haven't warned you about them. I figured that I could post some of my drafts before I'm going to bed, so here is a small collection of my attempts at drawing bunnies and bakeries (notes are in french).😴 First_bunnies.jpg Draft.jpg

too much scope

probably can't finish anything solid, but ended up with some cool mechanics ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Just released my first Ludum Dare Game!

I just released my game about being a prisoner and trying to escape. Please check it out. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/stuck-in-a-prison Im super happy to have finally finished a game. Sadly I had to remove textures and good winning music and replace it with my own. I'm still super happy how it turned out.Stuck in a prison Poster.png

We did it :D

Splashscreen.png Epoch_03.PNG

We are so happy and proud of our entry and are looking forward to see what you did. Hope you had a blast with this LD - we sure did! =D

We wish everybody some amazing last minutes until the end of the jam.

Epoch_01.PNG

We did it!

Well, it was my first Ludum Dare and I think I'm not a girl anymore, I am a woman now. Anyway, play some games (especially Sinner's Hotel, well, you know), have fun and good luck everyone!Снимок 2020-10-05 00.39.19.png

I finished!

Wow i spent too much time with the weapon animation Capture.PNG

Concentric

My first entry in to Ludum Dare. I started it at 9:30am today so there's only 12.5 hours work on it but I'm pretty happy with it. It's a puzzle game where you match shapes and/or colors in counter-rotating concentric rings - let's call them loops :-) coverimage.png

Compo game done!

It's done! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/a-game-of-chance Title Page.jpg I can't talk too much about it, because I don't want to spoil the puzzles, but hopefully it'll be a mind bending opportunity!

Losing steam

I keep procrastinating on making the boss fight. It was my idea in the first place, and I have good ideas for it, but I just can't bring myself to actually implement any of them. I'm torn between doing what's going to make for a fun game and what's going to be a fun game to make. I'm sure once I actually get started it'll be fine, and this is definitely a good thing to know how to do, but it's just hard to motivate myself to start. But hey, at least the player can dash now with a fancy raycast to check that they won't be clipping through any walls!

Finished

Finished my first Ludum Dare game. It's short but an actual game. You can see it at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/bloop-1

Wow, my first LD-game is finished

RedneckLogo.png What a ride. I doubted myself so I was planning on entering the JAM, just to get a day extra, but somewhere around the 24 hour mark i realized that this can be done and I decided to go for the COMPO. This morning I played my game and realized that no one have seen a space-floating-racer but almoast everyone have seen or heard of the swampboats, so I redesigned. Since I don´t know how to model I made all the games assets from cubes within Unity, yea I know, not the best thing for performance, and when I populated the swamp with trees the framerate died. So, another designchange and the scene is now framed by blocky mountains. Well, anyway, I would be super glad if someone would like to try and rate my game.

Thanks for this wonderfull weekend, on to the ratings =)

Light it up!

ld47_2.gif

Almost done. It's not much, but it's honest work.

Well it's not happening people! No game this LD

Needless to say I got like 3-4 hours and that was about it. That is what happens when you have to adult I guess. Will enjoy playing some of the games. And always love the buzz of all games being developed, see ya for the next one hopefully with a little more time.

I walk away with some grass and water tiles and a single wizard sprite frame.

In over my head

KloneemKarts/em1.gif I was a little more ambitious this time around, which had its pros & cons. I found that while I have lots of interesting features and potential, I fear that the project lacks the depth I've been able to produce in the past. A great experience altogether.

Periphery

I just completed my Compo entry, "Periphery". Please check it out!

ss_03.png

First one in the bag..

Can't actually believe I got it done, but it's there, it's playable, and I actually did it. First time for me, and I Was pretty unsure, but it was a BLAST!

Out of time

I got the bulk of my game finished. Adding sounds and polishing tomorrow. tm.png

Confined: Day #2 Progress

  logobig.png

Well this weekend sure rushed by quick. This morning and early afternoon was all about finishing my weekly song, entirely unrelated to Ludum Dare. But I am happy with how quickly I finished that, and it didn't take too big a bite out of my scheduled gamejamming.

day2d.png

What then followed was building a simple logic system in my game that I, as a logically-challenged artist, found quite difficult to put together. I think it's functioning okay now, but it doesn't have the depth I had originally envisioned.

day2c.png

Aside from that, I had to wrap my head around the story further. I have caught up to the point that I had figured out in my mind, and now I have to decide exactly how to conclude it all. This really is a familiar feeling for day #2 of any Ludum Dare for me. I hope I can turn it around successfully on day #3 again, but sine I am doing this on my own for the first time there are no real guarantees.

day2b.png

I keep wanting to go back through what I have coded so far and integrate everything in an elegant, more stripped down system, but there is that deadline tomorrow. I have to remember it's the result that counts, not my sloppy workflow and multiple instances of the same code, at times side-by-side.

day2a.png

Hopefully a night's sleep will make the narrative conclusion more apparent to me. And, even more hopefully, tomorrow's workday won't wear me out before I can continue with just 6 to 7 hours remaining in the jam.

Goodnight!

thumbs3.png

Finished

Just finished my firsr LD game (compo)

Hamsters again.

I had a half baked idea for the first day that had way too much scope to be done well, this is what I came up with today, hence it's rather basic look.

There are hamsters and acid though.

waaaaaaaa.jpg

Up and running!

My game, "Just in Time", is now published! Paradoxically, it's the first time I didn't publish my game jam entry just in time . Here it is: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/$220761

My second game for ldjam is complete!

I'm pretty satisfied with the concept I came up with, and this is my first time making original music for my game!

Honestly execution-wise it's not great, though I wasn't able to really dedicate a ton of time towards it. I probably spent a grand total of 6 hrs on it, and at least 4 hours were just spent writing ad re-writing the physics logic. I probably should've used a real game engine this time, but I started the project on a flight with no access to the internet, so this was the best I could do. Still proud of my self for finishing though.

Here it is: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/karmic-circle

It's done!

I took the musical interpretation of the theme and made Beatbox Gardener, a game about music-making potted plants!

title.png

Each plant controls one track of a continuously-repeating loop. When you drag and drop a plant from the store to the jam zone, it plays its audio and animates in time with the music. Plants in the jam zone accumulate points that can be used in the store to unlock more plants. There are nine plants and nine tracks in all.

screenshotemtwo/emplant_jam.png

This was both fun and stressful as always. I'm proud of what I made and hope you get a chance to play it! I'd like to write a more in-depth post mortem later on, but right now I need some rest.

This is all i have :(

i can do the jam version and take an extra day but i honestly have no idea where to take this game.samplrun.gif

All done!

I've finished and uploaded my entry, Station 8. Not the most inspired use of the theme, but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out. Play it here.

cover_image.png

Day 2/3 Update!!

Hey all, how’s jammin’ treating you?? Better than 2020 I hope. This update is mostly geared towards Day 2’s progress as I didn’t post yesterday.

Well, I managed to waste most of the day on rl commitments, I still write some more code on the main loop. Imported some roughly made art assets, and throw together a little level design.

Sadly it’s still a mostly thrown together jumble of random mechanics, with only 24 hours left, we’ll see how far I manage to get!!

At this point, I feel like I can more than likely submit at least something that resembles a game by the deadline. So, good luck to all!! -HoC

PS- still no screeners, possibly tonight??!!

Not gonna finish competition unfortunately :(. Jam instead :)

Looks like I'm not gonna have time finish before the deadline for the competition, but I still look forward to entering the jam and will be treating the jam like the competition still. Figured I'd post a little screenshot of the game so far cause I tried my best to finish before the deadline. The idea behind the game is that you can create loops of yourself to that can interact with you to help you complete the level. Here is a little screen shot of one of the game loops! One of your loops is jumping the gap with the player in hands. notgonnafinish.png

Submitted for the Compo

Phew !

I wasn't sure I'd make it for the compo ! Yet somehow I made it.

I'm especially proud since last time I had to submit for the Jam since I had to take some extra time to polish the game.

Without further ado, I present to you: Press the Buttons !

Another successful Ludum Dare!

Screenshot_1.png

Time to get lost in the shuffle of "here's my project" posts. Well, here's my project! I'm very happy with how it turned out. I think it's a lot of fun. If you play and rate, please comment and I'll play and rate your game as well. Congrats to everyone who finished a game!

Cat’s Delivering Service

Imagine the world, where only cats live. Interested? Then let's go!

unknown.png

Encouraged by the theme of loops we decided to do the game, where you can not only feel the tension of being stuck in a loop, but also relax. Chill, calm down and enjoy beautiful landscapes, lovely characters and their stories.

In our game you can: * Talk to different characters (each of them have their unique stories) * Interact with objects and follow chain actions * Run a game in a game * Lo-Fi Unique soundtracks! * BONUS: If you like cats you will definitely love it!

We are doing our best now to accomplish all we've planned. And we'll be very happy to see some feedback on our game! =)

Just published my game 10 minutes before the due date!

La boucle du Dongeon

La boucle du Dongeon - LD 47 - CryVeck - screenshot.png I made a jam with friends a long time ago, and now, I've done the compo because I am alone, and tomorow I need to go to school :/ I am happy to made a playable game !

When you get stuck into a dungeon and you are trying to escape with your magical stone...

A simple game made in Java with build in JDK librairies (as java, javax, ...) without any external librairies. I am some disapointed due to the little number of level. They are too easy. I spend too much time on functionnalities. (Rarely there is a collision bug, I need more time to correct the bug, so is too late)

Hope you get some fun and idea !

If you like it and want more level let me know, I may post some updates in the future.

Java is require on your computer in order to run the game ! (only tested on Windows)

Hey folks,

it's time again. I've not very much time this edition of Ludum Dare, but i'll try to come up with a game anyways... So i've got maybe 8 hours left to work on the game tomorrow. I've did some pixel work and composition done for the general feel of the game. Should i continue?

Yay ! Finished ! Loops in pool !

That was close. There is about a tenth of all I wanted to put at the beginning.

But it's here, and (IMHO) it is playable. Well, at least for 5 minutes.

Finishing Touches Complete (Hopefully)

ldcover.png

Just about finished the final polishes and audio on my game Looper. Its my first Jam, so i'm just happy to have made a game, even if it might be a tad simple. Go check it out here and (hopefully  ) enjoy it.

finished my game, Orbital Defense Cannon!

I've just finished my game and uploaded it to Newgrounds (it's an HTML5 game). It's not a super duper game it's just a little time killer that I had fun with. Enjoy!!

Just completed my First Game Jam!!!!

After 2 days of hard work, I have finally finished my game. While I didn't get to everything I wanted to, I'm proud of my first attempt. As the saying goes, ""art is never finished only abandoned". If you would like to check my game out, here is the link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/assembly-loop.

I can't wait to see what others have created. At a short glance at the games page as well as the recent blog posts, there seem to be some very interesting concepts.

Well,

after 4 days of Brackeys videos only - i decided to take part in this ludum dare. And nope, i never did anything in Unity before… Nice experiment…

Take a look at my game HERE :v:

library9.gif Polishing levels, menus and whole game sequence next! Hopefully we have some time to make some custom music for the ending ;x :punch:

Whew...

I was completely unaware there was a submission hour. I'm here freaking out because I didn't have the right module downloaded to upload this and everything on my computer decided to freeze up but it looks like I might be able to get it in!

Little update before going to sleep.

LD47_Gif5.gif

It's going well, I have 5 small levels.

Tomorrow's checklist: - Going to work - Fix camera - Fix death Fx - Fix UI - Creating and integrating art - Add sound effect - Add the level selector - Finish win condition.

Well, if I have time to do everything it will be a miracle ^_^

Good night everyone. Tomorrow will be a hard day :D

My first Ludum Dare!

Just finished my first Ludum Dare!

It was a ton of fun, but I definitely need some sleep now...

It is done!

I've submitted my game "Ejected" for the Compo! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/ejected

The last 24 hours have been a stressful grind of prioritizing and scope cutting, but I think I managed to put out something acceptable in the end.

The one thing I wished I had more time for was audio. I didn't expect to have time for any audio at all, but I managed to squeeze in at least some spooky space ambience in the final hour.

Playing and rating will have to wait until tomorrow, all I want to do right now is sleep.

Finished my Second Ludum Dare Event

This was a tough theme. Didn't have a enough time, but enjoyed making. There's gold to collect in the game, but it's good for nothing. Made it again in Unity. Probably there's bugs in it.
